A cold, winter breeze blew through the window of a Twoleg nest. A beautiful white and grey she-cat was laying in her bed, with her 3 little kits. "Mama?" asked a tabby grey kit, "When will father return?"

The she-cat turned her head to her kit, "Hopefully soon, he hasn't been out this long before." she said with worry for her mate, "I hope he isn't hurt." Just then, a black and white tom appeared through the window.

"I'm ok, Luna." the tom said, "I got caught up, talking to an old friend." Luna looked at her mate, surprised, "Who was it, Smudge?" Smudge didn't hesitate to answer, "Rusty!"

"Rusty?" asked a small brown tabby kit,"Who's he?" Smudge looked at his daughter.

"He's a friend of mine when we where kits, just like you, Ocean." Ocean was curious about her father's friend, she wanted to know more about him,"Where is he now?" she asked.

 "He's a forest cat." he said, aware of her curiosity.

"Wow!" said the tabby grey kit,"That sounds so cool!" Luna looked at her son, alarmed.

"No, Storm!" she said,"Life in the forest is dangerous and cruel, the wild cats who live there are aggressive and vicious!" Storm looked at his mother with round, terrified eyes, and looked down at his paws. Ocean was more focused on what life would really be like as a forest cat,That would be amazing, she thought, I want to join them!
