Jackaldusk let out a huge sigh, relieved to finally get some space. He looked expectantly at Minky, as if encouraging her to pick him. The brown tabby she-cat glanced at the russet tabby tom nervously, shifting her gaze towards Deerstar.

Deerstar seems to be a rather unpredictable cat... Who knows what she would do if she was to mentor me, Minky thought, shivering at the idea of Deerstar forcing her to do tortuous training. I think it's safer to pick Jackaldusk... At least I know Frostthorn will be around to keep him in check. They seem like good friends.

Minky snorted, laughing at herself. What a weird way to decide, Minky. You're a pure genius.

When Frostthorn and Jackaldusk raised their eyebrows questioningly, Minky, shrunk back, feeling sheepish. There's no way I'm telling them how I chose who I want to mentor me...

"Have you decided?" Deerstar's soft voice rang in Minky's ear. Minky straightened herself before freezing, her eyes wide. Deerstar really is scary and unpredictable... What a chilling atmosphere around her...

"I have," Minky nodded, trying to compose herself from Deerstar's icy stare. "If I may, could I ask Jackaldusk to train me?"

The brown tabby she-cat observed the PeakClan leader anxiously, hoping she had not offended her. What happened to the gentle voice I heard? This chilling atmosphere is almost unsettling... What a shift.

After a tense moment of silence, Deerstar gave a brief sigh and smiled. "Of course. Let's announce your arrival to PeakClan formally."

Minky immediately brightened, a forgotten emotion churning in her belly. Is this excitement?

"However," Deerstar meowed, voice solemn. "You will not be an official member of PeakClan until you pass your warrior assessment."

Minky pushed away the earlier emotion and nodded. This is what I must do to be accepted...

Deerstar softened her gaze and beckoned them to follow her with her tail. Frostthorn and Jackaldusk entered a hushed conversation among themselves, leaving Minky alone to wander around in her own thoughts.

"Where are we going?" Minky asked, her curiosity overpowering her tendency to keep quiet.

"The Meridian Rock," Frostthorn answered, shifting his attention to Minky. "It's where we hold our ceremonies and announce important announcements."

What a strange name, Minky thought. "Why is it called the Meridian Rock?"

"You'll see when we get there," Jackaldusk cut in, grinning. "You'll be amazed."
