» Chapter 1.10

» In Chapter 1.9, you chose: PeakClan.

The brown tabby she-cat felt all eyes focus on her as she pondered. She frowned when she noticed Pinpoint was no longer relaxed. His claws were unsheathed, and his eyes narrowed. What could be bothering him?

Minky glanced up at the two starry figures, her mouth dry. She had no idea what was laid out in front of her, and was unsure if either of their offers would benefit her.

"Why me?" Minky whispered, lowering her head. She felt small and vulnerable in front of the dead cats. "I'm insignificant."

She heard Pinpoint gave an exasperated sigh, and the two starry cats chuckle in amusement. She felt herself burn with embarrassement. I must look like a joke to them.

"Little one, you are so much more than you realise," the two starry cats scolded in unison. "Do not judge your worth based on what others deemed you to be. Now, would you choose?"

"I..." Minky flattened her ears, feeling overwhelmed.

"You know, if you don't want to go with them, you can always come with me," Pinpoint muttered.

At first, Minky thought he was joking, but when she gazed into his eyes, she knew he was being earnest. If the two dead cats specifically came to me, I should be polite and choose.

Sighing, she shook her head. "I'll choose."

Minky thought she felt a wave of disappointment coming from Pinpoint, but she dismissed it as her imagination. He's just a stranger I met and known for less than a day.

Though she told herself that, she realised that the two cats before her were dead, and only came to her a few moments ago. She chided herself for being so foolish before looking up to face the two starry cats.

"I've decided," Minky mewed, her voice wavering slightly from stress. "I will join PeakClan."

"A wise choice," the first starry cat nodded in approval. "Your arrival will be announced to the living cats of PeakClan. We wish you all the best to your future."

"Pinpoint," the second starry cat addressed the agitated golden-furred tom. "You will always be welcomed to join Minky."

"I'll never join wildcats like you," Pinpoint growled, his fur bristling. He turned to Minky. "Until we meet again."

"Wait!" Minky called out, her eyes stretching wide in shock as she watched Pinpoint darted away from the border of forest and mountain.

"I... I sincerely hope I made the right choice," Minky whispered. Pinpoint's rejection strangely hurt more than any physical or emotional wound inflicted upon her by Ren's group.

"PeakClan resides deep in the forest. You should be able to find most of your way until a patrol arrives to fetch you," the first starry cat meowed.

Minky watched the two starry cats dissolve into the air, disappearing from sight. She felt lost as she threaded into the forest, looking back once before continuing.

This is the end of the first chapter! It took longer to get this out because I was waiting for more responses to the question as I believe it is a decision many would want to make. How do you feel about everything so far? Do you think Minky will meet Pinpoint again? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
