Chapter 9

"Willowstar! Help us fight!" Featherstar called to the PoppyClan leader.

"I think I'd rather leave you to it. I'm bored of it already. Have a nice battle." Willowstar yawned and started heading back to her Clan's territory.

"Oh no you don't!" Featherstar yowled. The CloudClan leader dashed after Willowstar.

"Featherstar, we already have Graystar pinned down." Raincloud meowed, but Featherstar didn't seem to hear her Clanmate.

"I don't have to listen to you! I'm not in your Clan! I'm a leader of my own Clan!" Willowstar hissed as she turned back and unsheathed her claws.

Featherstar leapt over Willowstar and pivoted on her hindpaws, facing the blue-gray she-cat again.

"Don't forget that you helped Graystar invade our territory. You can't meow for yourself. You will help us." Featherstar hissed back.

Scorchheart had Graystar pinned down on the ground like Raincloud had tried telling Featherstar.

"Your Clan leader...does she do this every time she has a battle?" Graystar asked Scorchheart under her paw.

"Only when she has bees in her brain." Scorchheart answered.

"Or when she is crazier than a fox in a fit." Raincloud added.

"Or when someone made dirt in her fresh-kill." Scorchheart gave a mrrow of laughter.

"And when she has a badger." Raincloud purred in amusement. *

"Don't forget that she is sometimes a birdbrain." Scorchheart removed her paw from holding Graystar down.

"Oh, and the times she is a foxheart!" Raincloud meowed.

"How about when it's that time of the season?" Scorchheart gave another mrrow of laughter at her own joke.

"I remember that time! Can you remember when she acted like an elder that was annoyed with a medicine cat?" Raincloud mewed.

"Wasn't that like Crowscar and Eagletalon?" Scorchheart asked, remembering stories of Redfur's former Clan.

"Yes! It was! That's why our medicine cat left!" Raincloud purred again.

"We don't have a medicine cat because Featherstar ended it!" Scorchheart meowed in amusement.

"Wait, ended what?" Graystar asked.

The two she-cats forgot that Graystar was still next to them. In fact, they forgot about the whole situation they were in.

"Featherstar stopped being mates with Snowface!" Raincloud answered a bit too loudly.

"WHAT?!" a yowl sounded from the PoppyClan border.

"Oh foxdung. I messed up." Raincloud whispered.

"Yeah, you did." Scorchheart whispered back.

"I say we make a run for it." Raincloud replied.

"Yep. That would be best." Scorchheart agreed.

The two CloudClan she-cats turned around and dashed away to the CloudClan warrior's den.

"You flea-pelted furballs! I'm coming over there and when I do, you are mouse-meat!" Featherstar ignored Willowstar, who had held her ground and defended herself when Featherstar attacked her while the she-cats were joking around.

Willowstar turned to her Clan's territory and got away.

"Featherstar, you will do nothing of the sort!" another meow called out.

Featherstar paused. "Who challenged me?" she hissed.

"One of your own warriors. I think they are a tom named Nettlepelt, right?" the cat answered.

"Nettlepelt, what have you been doing when this battle was going on?" Featherstar growled as she approached the CloudClan tom.

"I've been standing next to Graystar, Scorchheart, and Raincloud before they ran off." Nettlepelt answered.

"Graystar escaped?! Why did you let him go?!" Featherstar was about to claw Nettlepelt before she was knocked over and saw only darkness.

"Featherstar. You are losing a life: the life of respect," meowed a luminous gray tom with dark blue eyes that appeared from the darkness, "You have to realize what being a Clan leader means. You must respect your Clanmates and the other Clan leaders.

Because you have lost this life, you will be met with a fate worse than the Dark Forest. A fate worse than losing your last life. A fate worse than losing your leadership in CloudClan. A fate that is your doing, your own trap on yourself. You have been warned, Featherstar."

The tom faded away and Featherstar only saw the darkness. Another voice meowed from the dark, "Watch for the enemy from the forest. They have a power that of which you do not have. They are the one cat you must keep a lookout for. Watch your back, Featherstar. Always watch your back."
