Leader: The cat who leads the Clan. They have 9 lives and their suffix is usually -Star

Deputy: The cat who will inherit the rank of Leader when they die.

Medicine Cat: A cat who gives up fighting and hunting to learn about herbs and heal their Clan. They follow a different code, the Medicine Cat Code, along with the Warrior Code. The most of these cats seen in the book is 2 at once.

Medicine Cat Apprentice: A young cat, from 6-14 moons, who is in training to become Medicine Cat. They have the suffix -Paw

Warrior: A regular Clan cat who hunts, defends, and fights for their Clan.

Mentor: A Warrior who is training an apprentice.

Apprentice: A young cat, from 6-12 moons, who is training to become a Warrior. They have the suffix -Paw

Queen: A Warrior who is feminine. They are either pregnant or nursing Kits.

Kit: A very young cat, from 0-6 moons, who cannot fight or hunt. They eventually become an Apprentice or a Medicine Cat Apprentice. They have the suffix -Kit

Elder: A very old cat or a cat who cannot do their warrior duties, so they retire. This rank is often overlooked, but also crucial to Kits and Apprentices get told stories of their ancestors or the Warrior Code.
