Flamepaw's POV

Flamepaw ran after Mousepaw towards the Three Stones. The full moon shone down above them casting faint shadows across the ground. The air was still thick with heat. "Flamepaw!" Spinning round he caught sight of Dewpaw running towards him. Her silvery pelt shimmered in the moonlight. She ran over and pressed her muzzle against Flamepaw. Flamepaw sighed, breathing in her soft scent. "I've missed you." He breathed. They broke apart. Flamepaw caught sight of Mousepaw coming over to join them. She greeted Dewpaw with a friendly lick, then rubbed against Rainpaw. The four of them settled in the grass, in a sort of half ring. "So, whats been going on?" Dewpaw asked.
"Nothing exciting. Well, exept for the fact that Thunderclaw and Rivertail ambushed me in my territory." Flamepaw replied.
"What?" Dewpaw looked confused. "Thunderclaw?"
"Yeah. They were saying something like; if I was the one. Thunderclaw said that the reward was his."
"What reward?"
"Didn't Duskstar send them?"
"Not that I know of."
"I saw them! Thunderclaw was limping and Rivertail had a long scratch. Said they'd ran into some brambles." Rainpaw exclaimed.
So Duskstar didn't send them. What were they doing though? Flamepaw thought.
"Its all very nice that you're making friends, but do you mind not interrupting the meeting?!" A sharp voice startled Flamepaw out of his thoughts. Jerking around he saw an old cat. Her tortoiseshell fur was mattered amd voice raspy with age.
"Sorry Brooktail!" Dewpaw mewed quickly. Waving her tail she gestured for them to follow her a bit further away. Flamepaw glances up at the ledge where Poppystar was finishing her report and Stormstar stepped forward. "So, the news has probably gotten around, but Stripestar drowned over half a moon ago." The crowd rippled with sadness and words of respect. A cheer broke out. "Stormstar, Stormstar!"
"So, anyway," Mousepaw mewed, jerking Flamepaw's attention back to the conversation. "If Duskstar didn't send them, who did?"
"I don't know." Dewpaw replied, looking uncomfortable.
"Flamepaw!" A sharp voice called behind him. Spinning round he caught sight of Sunflare stalking towards him. "What do you think you're doing?" He demanded.
"Getting to know some cats." Flamepaw replied icily. "Against the law now, is it?"
"It's...it's fraternizing with the enemy!"
"What?" Flamepaw was taken aback. "It's a gathering you mousebrain! We're meant to make friends!" For a second Flamepaw thought Sunflare might claw him. Then a new voice came from behind him. "Not disobeying your deputy now, are you?" Foxshade asked calmly. Flamepaw forced his fur to lie flat again. "No Foxshade."
"Good." Foxshade looked hard at him, green eyes flashing, almost warningly. "Now lets go." He turned and stalked away, gesturing for Flamepaw to follow.
"Is that your mentor? He's really mean!" Dewpaw exclaimed.
"I better get going. See you at the next gathering." He turned and started to walk away but she ran after. "I don't want to wait that long! Can you make it to the edge of the Thunderpath at moonhigh tomorrow? By the tree that was struck by lightning. You can bring your sister, Rainpaw wants to meet her" Flamepaw could see Foxshade waiting for him. "Ok." He whispered before running back towards Foxshade.

Flamepaw couldn't sleep. The thought of meeting with Dewpaw in the middle of the night was thrilling. They were friends! Surely this was ok. The moon slowly crept higher as Flamepaw waited. All he could think of was the meeting. Finally, unable to wait any longer he got up. Careful not to disturb Thornpaw he poked Mousepaw.
"Time to go." He hissed. She stirred and, to his horror, kicked Eaglepaw in the back.
"Hey!" Eaglepaw snapped, waking up. The other apprentices, Thornpaw and Pricklepaw started to wake too. "Go back to sleep! Everything is fine." Flamepaw mewed pretending he aslo was woken. When they seemed to have drifted to sleep he hissed, "Come on, mousebrain." before leaving the den, Mousepaw on his paws. She looked hurt.
"Hey, you don't need to be so mean!"
"You almost blew it!" He turned, running towards the forest not even waiting to see if she followed.
When he arrived at the dead tree he was panting hard. His heart lifted as he saw Dewpaw, her tail wrapped neatly around her paws. "Flamepaw!" She breathed. "She stood and padded over the border to greet him. Mousepaw arrived shortly after. She mewed a happy greeting to Dewpaw before touching noses with Rainpaw. Suddenly Dewpaw leaped to her paws. "Race you to the dead tree!" She yowled before pelting off, leaving them to scramble after her. Flamepaw raced ahead of Mousepaw and Rainpaw, gaining on Dewpaw. He flashed passed her and crashed into the dead tree. "I won!" He mewed as Dewpaw arrived, closely followed by Mousepaw and finally Rainpaw.
"We make such an awesome team!" Dewpaw panted. "We need like, a team name or something."
"Yeah, that would be awesome!" Mousepaw agreed eagerly.
"We should all come up with some ideas for names till next time." Rainpaw suggest.
"Great! Same time same place tomorow?" Mousepaw meowed.
"Kay." Dewpaw turned and started heading back into their territory.
"See you tomorrow then!" Flamepaw called after her. She flashed a smile over her shoulder as she disappeared into RockClan's territory.
