Dark Decison

The moonlight showered the tree tops above with an eerie white light, casting long shadows to reach out across the ground. Movement flickered across the darkness, followed by the rustling of grass and crunching of crisp leaves.
A dark figure was dragging itself across the ground, pain and worry pulsing off her body. The trees seemed to stare down at her with disapproval as their tall and menacing appearances towered over her.
Soft whispering disturbed the still silence when a sharp blow of wind shook the forest.
"Don't worry." The gentle and angelic voice oozed like sweet honey as she spoke. "I will help you out. You're not alone in such a troubled time."
The dark pelt was now partially illuminated by the starlight she transmitted with her mere presence.
She stared up at her deceased relative and bowed her head with sincere gratitude for being at her side.
It had only been a few moons since she had been walking these grounds looking lively than ever. But her star lined pelt was now I reminder of where she resided; walking the ranks of StarClan. The simple thought of her absence made her heart ache.
The StarClan she-cat gently placed her tail tip on her belly. "They're coming. Here, bite down on this when you feel the pain."
She nodded and prepared herself to bite down on the stick. "I'm scared," she whimpered softly.
"I know you are but that is why I am here. Everything is going to be alright," she meowed, meeting her troubled gaze with warmth and reassurance.
The gnawing pain grew more intense in her belly until a ripple passed down her body, causing her to shudder at the sensation.
Her breath came in short but quick pairs. She leaned her head back, closing her eyes trying to contain the pain that flared inside her belly until it became so strong that she snapped the stick in half and yowled in pain.
"One more to go."
The queen had no time to pay attention to her kit as a second spasm passed through her so strong that her claws slid out.
"You're doing great. Just fight through the pain. It'll be over before you know it."
Her yowl of pain was drowned by the rumbling of thunder and she collapsed on her side, panting heavily. It was as if the air had vanished from her lungs and she was struggling to regain it.
The StarClan she-cat was on her paws and instantly licking the newborns until they came alive.
Eventually, the pain subsided and the queen was able to rest with her two identical kits curled up at the crook of her belly. The new mother had her gaze filled with love, but in the depths of her eyes hung a dark shadow of worry and guilt.
"As we had foreseen: twins."
The StarClan warrior had just echoed the young she-cats thoughts. She groaned, flattening her ears to her head, feeling as if someway-somehow, this was her fault. Why had the dreaded twins been born to her? What was its significance? Why couldn't she have had normal kits like the rest of the queens? Or even better, why had the law of forbidden kits ever been made?
She knew the answer to that, and the reminder of the near destruction of the Clans sent shivers down her spine.
"Have you decided what you will do about this?" The voice of the StarClan cat shattered through her moment of tormenting herself and snapped back to reality.
To her question, she nodded slowly, figuring there was only one way out of this.
"I know what i must do."
The StarClan she-cat closed her eyes, seeming to concentrate on something unknown to the queen.
"What is it?" She asked her slowly.
"I see its future," she noted as her gaze dawned upon one of the kits. "That one. He's the one who will cause our fall."

A low growl rumbled from the sky and a flash of bright light sparked from above. The sound of high pitched mews rang in the air but they were soon drowned by the roll of thunder.
The silver tabby she cat trekked through the ground carrying a small ginger kit in her jaws. Her chest was heavy with guilt and sorrow for what she was about to do. But it was for the best. She had to protect her second kit from death and there was only one way she could.
Her eyes were stained with tears as she struggled to fight back the urge to cry.
'I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!'
She knew her conscious would forever be tainted after she finished this. How could she live with herself? How could she go about living her life like nothing ever happened?
Her paws trudged through the puddles of rain and she could only think of how much she wanted this to be over. Her tears blended in with the pouring rain but she blinked them away. Crying wouldn't help her out in a time like this. It would only make things worse.
When she raised her head, her destination came into view; a cliff hanging over the sea.
The thought of what she was about to do made the tears come falling quicker. She couldn't help it.
She walked up the rocky slope, feeling her pawsteps grow slower as it became hard to hold in the sobs. She thought about what would happen if she happened to lose her footing and tumble down the rocky cliff. Not only would she kill her kit but herself as well but that didn't seem too bad for her, except that who would watch over her second kit? He was the reason why she was doing all of this. To secure his place in the Clan without having to worry about anyone finding out about this secret.
After her hike through the cliff, she found herself staring down at the roaring waves of the sea below. Rushing water licked the side of the cliff as they ran quickly, roaring madly.
She placed the kit in front of her and her eyes once again filled with tears. "This is what I must do," she repeated over and over to calm herself. But as she looked at her helpless kit, she just couldn't find the strength to do it.
Something gently touch her shoulder and she looked over. The starry she-cat who had guided her appeared at her side giving her a look of sympathy. "You know you're only doing this for the best of the Clan and your other kit."
"One life sacrificed doesn't compare to the larger amount of lives that would be lost if this kit is to live."
The queen nodded in understanding and watched the she-cat fade away. She picked the kit up by his scruff and it squirmed around, letting out soft and protesting mews as if sensing its end.
With a cry, she shut her eyes and leaned her head over the cliff. She swallowed, feeling as if stones had piled up in her throat. Her heart hammered in her chest and she forced herself to push every feeling aside and let go of the scruff of the kit.
It felt like time had frozen for the queen and after a few long heartbeats, the sound of the kits body splashing onto the roaring water, drifted into her ears as his body became one with the dark water.
She collapsed onto the ground and sobbed uncontrollably, already feeling the weight of guilt. Her wails were filled with sorrow and grief but nothing would change the reality of what she had done no matter how much she took it back, no matter how much she cried. It wouldn't change anything.
She had killed her own kit.
Hey guys! It's Raven! I have returned from my break and I guess it is time I resume my books. Unfortunately, I have terrible writers block so all I can do for now is edit my books. And hopefully after that, my writers block will go away and I'll continue writing new chapters! =^.^=
