Characters that are about to die manage to fit an entire good-bye and inspirational speech before their death.

* Cliché, yeah, but it would just be pitifully funny and not-sad if your super major character just died without saying anything memorable. If you're character is gonna give a sad goodbye, do something like Yellowfang where it's after the major event. A tragic speech in the middle of a battle is a bit less believable.
