Chapter 15

Blossompaw's POV:

The cream furred she cat jolted from her nest when she heard a loud, "OoOoOO!" coming from outside the den. She immediately felt a warm body against her and looked up to see a fidgeting Shadepaw resting with her, his tail curled around her body. Blossompaw purred, wanting to be in his hold forever, but she needed to investigate the strange sound from outside. Was it an intruder?

Stepping outside the den, Blossompaw saw Strike circling Flare and Zephyr with a wide grin. She watched as the winged tom purred. "Soooo, how long have you two been together?"

"We're not...?" Flare murmured uncertainly, her fur bristling in embarrassment. Zephyr, too, had a similar flushed look to him as he watched the red and black tom circle them.

Blossompaw forced down a chuckle at the two flustered Enforcers. It was a rare sighting to see them like this, especially Zephyr. She drew closer. "What's up?"

Strike looked at her. "Oh, Blossompaw! You can help me." He grinned. "These two aren't admitting their absolute admiration for each other and we need to make them."

Blossompaw chuckled as Flare attempted to walk away but Strike flicked her back with his tail. "There's no escape!" The red and black tom hissed, smirking widely.

"Strike, it's none of your business." Zephyr sighed, glaring at him.

"But it is. Flare's my sister." Strike grinned, but the moment he said that, Zephyr pressed his paw to Flare's side and they blinked away. A burst of red mist was left behind and Blossompaw watched as Strike's face fell. "Oh."

After a short while, Strike turned to Blossompaw. "They were sharing tongues by the fresh kill pile." A deranged laugh escaped his lips. "They are the cutest couple!"

"And you disturbed their time together to embarrass them?" Blossompaw rolled her eyes, strolling away to grab something to eat.

Strike padded after her. "I couldn't just sit back and watch."

"Whatever." She chuckled, picking up a mouse and sitting down. Strike sat nearby. It was obvious he wanted to continue to chat about Flare and Zephyr and she was the only one around to talk to. With a sigh, Blossompaw mewed. "What is it, Strike?"

The black and red tom immediately shuffled closer, giggling to himself. "Those two are just such a perfect pair.." He started rambling on about how great Zephyr and Flare were as mates. He didn't even notice Tyler was sneaking up behind him until his brother pounced on his back with a screech.

As the brothers tussled on the ground, Blossompaw finished her mouse and rose to her paws. She buried the remains of her meal and then headed into the warriors den to wake Thunder for training.

After training, Blossompaw spotted Shadepaw disappearing into the Prison. The cream she cat narrowed her eyes and crept after the tom. Where was he going? Why was he going back into that den?

She passed the guard with no problem at all, creeping into the den silently. She saw Shadepaw padding through the group of prisoners with a friendly smile on his lips. The prisoners dipped their heads to him, some showing fear while most looked at him with hope brimming in their eyes. A spark of anger flashed through Blossompaw as Shadepaw stopped by Bluesnow. He sat down beside the blue she cat and began talking softly to her, his voice too quiet for Blossompaw to hear.

Forcing down a vicious growl, Blossompaw fled the den before she was noticed. Why is he back in there? Was my lie not enough to keep him away? Will I have to come up with something else? Blossompaw sank her claws into the ground and glanced at NoName's den. The red she cat was grooming herself outside the den, her white eyes stone cold as usual. Should I tell NoName about her son's visits to the Prison? What will happen if I do? If he finds out I turned him in, he'd hate me!

Fear pricked at her heart and she turned away from NoName. Blossompaw would never risk losing Shadepaw. She'd have to find another way that made Shadepaw continue to like her. Maybe if she framed Bluesnow for something. It would be easy to convince NoName to kill her since she was Flamestar's sister.

Blossompaw jumped when something prodded her flank and she looked up to see Shadepaw beside her. "Are you okay?" He asked, blinking his golden eyes at her.

"Fine." She replied through gritted teeth, trying to calm her racing heart.

"Are you sure?" A sly grin slowly rose on his lips as he gently pushed her over on her back, his paws attacking her belly. Blossompaw shrieked in surprise, uncontrolled laughs bursting from her lips as the dark furred tom tickled her mercilessly.

"No stop!" She flailed, giggling and writhing against Shadepaw.

"Not until I see a big, happy grin on your lips!" Shadepaw replied, grinning. Blossompaw immediately let her face relax into the grin she had been holding back, more giggles escaping as her face creased in laughter.

At last Shadepaw sat back, leaving Blossompaw heaving and gasping on the ground, still letting out faint giggles. The apprentice chuckled and placed a small lick on her muzzle. "You're adorable."

Blossompaw purred.
