Sister

Aleah bent down on her knees. "Sister." Raising her bowed head, her eyebrows furrowed slightly. "Indra told me of the assassins. They were of Skaikru?"

Lexa's calculating stare held Aleah's. "Yes. I want you to find the killer. If you can deliver us justice, it will be easier for the clans to forgive your crimes." Bending down, Lexa places her hand on her sister's shoulders. "You can come home."

Aleah's eyes hardened. "You can forgive me, but what about the others? What about myself? I was the one who picked up the gun, even if I didn't fire it. We were wrong. The legends weren't talking about the mountain men. They were talking about Skaikru. It's all my fault, don't you get that?"

Tears were cascading down her face silently. Lexa wipes the tears from Aleah's cheeks. "Don't be stupid. You couldn't have known. Her softened expression hardened. "Find the killer." Lexa shoved a drawing into Aleah's chest. "Come home."

Lexa stood up, pulling her sister with her. "You'll stay with me tonight. When you're ready, you go after the murder. Come, we have much to catch up on."

Aleah sniffled slightly. "Y-yeah. When was the last time we talked? You've gotten so big, ai ange." [My angel.]

Lexa smiled softly. "So have you." She closed the door to her chambers, before turning around with a genuine smile. The usually strict commander leapt onto her bed, causing it to bounce slightly. "So...I heard you have found somebody. Tell me about her."

Aleah let out a dramatic huff. "Oh no, I am done with pretty girls. They always find a way to break your heart, one way or the other. No...um, it's a guy."

Lexa blinked before giving her sister a teasing glance. "Oh. Well, he must be special if you were willing to abandon us that quickly."

Aleah's face was practically dark as the sky outside. "Em tagon ste Belomi." [His name is Bellamy.] A light smile graced Aleah's lips as Lexa ran a brush through her tangled hair. "He was willing to shoot his leader to help his sister, the consequences be damned."

Lexa raised an eyebrow. "So...he's an idiot then."

Aleah winced as Lexa tugged at a not of her hair. "From what I've seen, he only acts like that if someone he loves is in danger. He's good at battle strategy and he has the makings of a good warrior if he can learn to calm himself and think."

Lexa started to separate Aleah's hair into sections. "He still sounds like an idiot to me. What does he look like? If he isn't at least cute, I'll be severally disappointed in you."

Aleah rolled her eyes playfully even through Lexa couldn't see. "Yeah, he's cute. Bellamy is tanned considerably for someone who's skin had never seen sunlight up until a couple of weeks ago. He has dark eyes and lightly curled hair. Most importantly: he has freckles."

Lexa nodded. "The freckles are what did you in." Tugging firmly on her sister's hair, she continued. "It was that way with her too. I just don't you to get hurt again."

Aleah's lips drew themselves into a thin line. "Yeah, I know. That's why you sent me away after Costia, why you told me to disappear. And I obeyed. But pain is apart of life, my angel. You can't avoid it, no matter how hard you try."

Lexa finished the braid. "Which is why you'll bring us justice."
