Deep oceans
The night blood took deep shaky breaths as she listened to the scene going on above her head. If she and Raven weren't quick...her boyfriend would be hanged by someone she had vouched for. Someone she had confided in.
Raven turned behind her. "I think I found it. You two should be there when it opens."
Makira hesitated slightly. "Will you be okay down here?"
"Yeah I'll be...ah!" Both girls let out a small shriek as it sparked. The night blood's eyes widened. They had to move...now.
Panicking, the elder girl threw herself on top of the mechanic, groaning as a bullet went through her shoulder into the girl beneath her. She had never felt anything so excruciatingly painful. It felt as if her muscles were on fire.
Groaning, she moved off of the younger girl. Distantly, she could hear the yells of the others, including Bellamy. "You okay? Wait...stupid ..ah question. Let's get us above, then I can treat us."
Raven grimaced in pain. "Y-yeah. Sounds good."
Hoisting Raven with her good shoulder, Makira crawled with Raven to the exit. Together, both girls limped towards the group, leaving a trail of red and black blood behind them.
Bellamy lunged for his injured girlfriend. "If the grounders don't kill Murphy, I will."
She winced. "I'm okay. I heal faster than most."
Jasper eyed her cautiously. "What you told Murphy...you weren't lying, were you?"
Bellamy glanced around, his brown eyes challenging his surroundings. "Lying about what?"
Makira diverted her eyes as if she were ashamed. "About the black blood. About the conclave..." Her breath hitched slightly before she continued. "About my name."
His eyes hardened as he set her down. "Your name is Makira."
She closed her eyes, a single tear slipping down her cheek.
"Not my birth name. Makira was a name I choose based on how I was treated. Makira means an animal like person; a person who is just weird in general. My name is Aleah, meaning 'to ascend'. No one's called me that in so long..." More tears started to stain her face.
Bellamy kissed her forehead. Rubbing her uninjured arm reassuringly, he muttered softly. "It's okay, Aleah. It's okay."
Sniffing slightly, the girl attempted to sit up more. "Y-you're not mad? I left a major part of my life in the dark until now. And I told a man who tried to hang you first."
Clarke eyed the two as she took the knife out of the fire. Without warning, she pressed it onto the wound causing the night blood to scream. The blonde winced. "Sorry. Can you turn over so I can get the back?"
Bellamy shifted, helping his girlfriend turn. "Course I'm not mad. I think you would've told me on your own time if we survive this stupid war. Just one question: do you want me to call you Aleah or Kira, because I can't do both."
Letting out a laugh of relief, the night blood nodded. "I don't care. You choose, ai haihefa."
Bellamy ran a hand through his curly hair. "Aleah, can you walk?"
She gave him a 'seriously' face. "You do realize I was shot in the shoulder, not the leg, right?"
He let out a nervous chuckle. "Good. I already packed our stuff. Stay in the middle. Us moving now is risky, it'll make us exposed. I don't want another scratch on your badass grounder body, you got that?"
Hiding her grimace with a smirk as she stood up, Aleah, for the first time in a long time, felt free. "Yes sir. Just one last thing before we go..." Raising her bloodied hand to her face, she smeared the dark sticky liquid around her eyes. (as seen on the cover)
"Alright," Aleah paused slightly as she grabbed her spear, ignoring the others' grimaces of disgust, "let's roll out."
Bellamy's chocolate brown eyes followed her as what was left of the 100 exited their sanctuary. Despite her pain, her face was stern and almost void of emotion, almost as if she had done something of the sort before.
Mentally, he made a note to dive further into the deep oceans that contained her backstory on a later date, because clearly, he hadn't even scratched the surface. Not even close.
