Chapter 14

Silverstar's P.O.V:

Silverstar felt herself come back to the world of the living. She felt ice cold. She blinked open her eyes and slowly raised her head. As soon as her head moved, however, everything went spiralling and her head hurt terribly so she timidly placed her head back on the cold hard ground.

Cats filled the clearing. Silverstar moved her gaze up at the Hightree where the silhouette of a cat stood. The cat was yowling something.

"Fine! Leave then and never ever come back!!"

No! The cat was banishing Stormflame!!!

But Silverstar couldn't do anything about it. She tried desperately to move but her muscles wouldn't work. Then she suddenly felt a strong breeze flow into the clearing. She wondered how it suddenly started.

Then the wind actually lifted Silverstar up as if she were as light as a feather. But instead of being swept away she stayed in one place. As if the wind was part of her.

All eyes were on her as Silverstar floated a tail-length above the ground. The wind had died down slightly and it only encased her. Everyone outside seemed untouched by the hurricane that kept Silverstar up in the air.

But, surprisingly, Silverstar felt as if the wind was giving her power. She felt strength flow into her limbs and the pain in her head lessened enough for her to focus on what exactly was happening.

After a short while, Silverstar suddenly had an idea. What if this is a new power I have developed? What if I am becoming the Wind element that we were talking about?

So Silverstar closed her eyes and pictured the wind gone and... it did! In a blink of an eye, the strong hurricane was gone and Silverstar free-falled a couple of tail lengths down to the ground.

She fell with a thump but somehow quickly recovered and rose to her paws again. Once she was fully standing she glanced up at the Hightree. The cat on it was Fernpelt. I knew he did not like Stormflame. Now he's looking for an excuse to kick him out. She blinked and saw Clearlight, Waterfly, Cloudwhisp and Cloudkit with Stormflame. And it looks like he's throwing out any cat who joins Stormflame too.  She remarked.

"Cats of Lightclan!" Silverstar meowed as strongly as she could, "What is the meaning of this?" Her voice faltered slightly as the last of the wind died down. It seemed that the air was taking away her strength that it had just given her.

Fernpelt stayed on the branch he was on and stared at Silverstar. His eyes were noticeably wide; he was most likely shocked about Silverstar's awakening like the rest of the clan.

At last, Fernpelt spoke. "Stormflame tried to kill you with his mouse-brained fire powers and to make it worse, all of our senior warriors are taking his side!"

Silverstar couldn't help but glare at Fernpelt, "Stormflame saved me! I fell from a tree and he created a net of fire that caught me just in time to save my life. Would you have preferred me to have lost a life? Maybe even die from the fall?" She lashed her tail and stalked closer to her deputy. "You have no right to be up there barking orders and banishing cats without my consent!"

Silence filled the camp and Silverstar kept her fiery gaze fixed on Fernpelt. The deputy seemed speechless. Then he jerked a bit as if to wake himself up and quickly climbed down the Hightree. When he reached the base of the Hightree he dipped his head low and mumbled, "I'm so very sorry, Silverstar. I did not realise what I was doing. Please do not strip me of my deputy position."

Silverstar stood in front of Fernpelt now, fur bristling. She debated whether she should make Fernpelt a warrior again and give another, more experienced cat, the deputy position. But Lightclan did need a young cat to be deputy so that if Silverstar were to die soon, he would be able to lead properly.

Finally, Silverstar dipped her head to rest her muzzle on Fernpelt's still-bowing head, "You are forgiven, my deputy."

Fernpelt shot his head up, eyes sparkling happily and his tail twitching like an excited kit, "Oh, thank Starclan!!- I mean.. Thank you, Silverstar " he composed himself and smiled up at Silverstar, "I promise not to do anymore leader duties until it is time."

Silverstar nodded and looked over at Stormflame and the others. She padded over to them and pressed her nose against Stormflame's cheek, "Thank you again Stormflame." She whispered in his ear and pulled away, purring.

Stormflame purred back, "No problem."

"Ehem?" Clearlight coughed jokingly, "Save it for the nest, you two." He grinned and stooped his head down to pick Cloudkit up by the scruff, "Come on, Cloudkit. Let's go back to the nursery and return you to your mother."

Waterfly stepped closer to Silverstar and whispered, "What was that wind all about?"

Silverstar felt a pang as she remembered the hurricane that gave her strength, "I think I have developed Wind powers."

Waterfly nodded, "I thought so. What's missing then?"

"Earth." Stormflame answered for Silverstar.

Silverstar nodded, "Let's keep a look out for any cat that looks like they might be developing Earth powers." She winked, "We don't want them to accidentally wreck the camp."

The three of them chuckled and Waterfly meowed, "I'll go tell Clearlight, see you later."

"Ok." Silverstar nodded. Then she turned to Stormflame, "Wanna continue the assessment? This time we'll add in 'Power practice.'" She smiled.

Stormflame smiled back, "Sure."
