Chapter 5

When Mousepelt neared, she saw Amberheart belly deep in the water. The brown speckled warrior pelted toward the golden ThunderClan she-cat.

"Amberheart!" Mousepelt shrieked angrily.
"Mousepelt?" Amberheart turned to face her. "What are you doing here?"

"Get out there this instant!" Mousepelt grabbed Amberheart's scruff and yanked her out the water. "Are you always reckless, or are you just plain stupid?"

"You dared me to do it." Amberheart lowered her ears.

"That's what makes you so stupid!" Mousepelt shot. "Remember when we were kits and I dared you to climb that tree when we were kits? This is dumber than this! Now that we're in different places, you shouldn't listen to me unless it's about Silversol!"

The moment Mousepelt said that, the bushes shuffled. Both she-cats turned. The darkness made it hard to see who was there. Mousepelt's fur stood. Whatever it was, was calling her.

Without thinking she pelted off toward it, leaving Amberheart behind. Mousepelt could hear Foxtail calling the ThunderClan warrior and no patrol was heading toward her as she ran. Mousepelt ran along the stream that separated ThunderClan from WindClan. The air hitting her face made her want to find something to find something warm to bury her face in. She then smelled SkyClan. She stayed low, in case any cat grew suspicious of a ShadowClan warrior this far from her territory.

As she passed the area behind WindClan and ThunderClan. Mousepelt saw the stream went toward a small piece of forest. She padded through the water to see it dropped down to a small pool of stars. Hypnotized by the strange beauty, Mousepelt jumped down and saw stale paw prints in the sand. She put her paw over one and saw she was much smaller than the print, but she could feel ancient cats had walked here once. Far away from Twoleg Place, away from StarClan, away from the warrior code. Lowering her ears she continued walking to the pool. She looked down and saw her reflection staring back at her. The stars all around her. Mousepelt lowered herself down and drank from the water and closed her eyes.

"Mousepelt," The warrior opened her eyes to find herself in some starry space. She looked up to see a sleek, thick-furred, muscular, large black she-cat with green eyes, and stars all over her pelt look down at her. "Good evening, young warrior."

"Who... Are you?" Mousepelt asked, standing slightly, something telling her to stay close to the ground. "Where am I?"

"My name is Shadow," the stranger answered, "I was once leader of ShadowClan, I've been hoping to see you for a long time young one."

That's when two toms came out from a starry mist. One was short with black guy and blue eyes. The other was... Midnightmoon! Mousepelt looked at her dead clanmate in shock. He looked much healthier and chipper than he used to look.

"Do not be frightened, Mousepelt," the first tom assured, "I am Shadowstar, I was leader, not long before your birth."

"Is there something you three need to tell me?" Mousepelt sat up, her tail wrapped around her paws. "Is it about the prophecy?"

"Yes," Shadow nodded, "Shadowstar." the older StarClan cat moved away, allowing the tom to lead Mousepelt to a pool. He placed his paw in to the water and as the water rippled, he gently took his paw back and instructed Mousepelt to look in to the water. She saw two shadows in the water, surrounded by many other shadowy figures of cats.

"Listen Mousepelt," Shadowstar's voice spoke, "you and Amberheart are prophesied to be the ones who end Silversol and keep peace, but, there is much you must do before you are ready to stop her."  the image then turned to the two main shadows in the battle crouch, looking at a shadow between them. "There is much darkness in the world, some of it is born, some are made." images of ancient cats appeared, all scarred and blood thirsty. "These kinds of cats can still try and provoke you, they'll try to bring the darkness to your heart. They'll train you in the ways of blood soaked war, battle moves outside the warrior code, and they'll make you suffer as you stand alone in the dark."

Suddenly, images of Mousepelt covered in blood appeared. She stood next to dark shadow like cats, their eyes full of insanity and power. They stood over the blood soaked dead bodies of many cats. The images then went to Mousepelt battle crouched before Amberheart. The golden warrior's eyes were full of fear as Mousepelt pounced at her and sliced her claws across the she-cat's throat. Then Ravenclaw appeared, looking happy. His happiness turned to hurt and horror as claw marks appeared on his throat. Jumbledstar then appeared, his different eye colors looking disappointed and hopeless. His image then appeared lying down in a pool of blood. Blackclaw's two she-kits looked at Mousepelt with deep admiration, which immediately turned to terror stricken faces as they lied in a pool of blood. Then Navi appeared before her, with her usual disinterested, then her green eyes turned to pain as trickles of blood came down her chin.

Mousepelt let out a frightened wail and backed away from the pool. The StarClan warriors looked at her sympathetically. The brown warrior could feel her legs shaking as the dead cats began walking toward her. Shadow then let out an angry snarl as the mist engulfed her and her decendents. Mousepelt looked around frantically for help, but they had disappeared.

"Hello, Mousepelt," Mousepelt spun around to see to see a sturdy, heavily built, scrawny, battle-scarred brown tom with wide front paws and thorn-sharp claws, look down at her. His amber eyes glistening with mischievous anticipation. "I've been wanting to meet you for a long time."

"Who are you?" Mousepelt shook backing away from the tom.

"My name is Clawface," he purred, "I can tell your lost and frightened, but there is nothing to worry about, all you need to do is return here when you want to train to get stronger, there are other cats here who will help, if you're interested, just return to us."

Mousepelt jumped awake. She looked around, but she was wide awake at the Moonpool. She saw it was almost sun high. She bolted from the water and quickly made her way to ShadowClan, but froze when she saw Flightwing. The young grey warrior looked up and her eyes glittered with interest.

"Flightwing, I-" Mousepelt began, but was stopped when Flightwing raised her tail.

"I thought I smelled ShadowClan," She purred, getting up and making her way to SkyClan, "but since you were with StarClan I'll let you go."

As Flightwing left, a stone at the bottom of Mousepelt's belly told her, she wasn't just in StarClan.
