Chapter 8

Wolf Fur's ears pricked as he looked at the massive animal.
Then it spoke.
"Cat need no fear." A couple of cats gasped in shock.
"D-did it just...?" Light Mist murmured. Grass Shadow's mouth was wide open.
"I am Twilight." The wolf's voice was deep and raspy.
"I don't buy these dreams for a moment!" Gray Sky shook his head and dashed forward. He went straight through the the wolf. "What in the name of,"
The creature's throaty laughter interrupted his shock. "Fierce. But now fight is not needed. No do. Only talk." The wolf lowered itself onto its belly. Wolf Fur looked at the creature he was named after. It had a combination of colors. Gray and almost white.
"For many days my kin speak of blood and days of death." He rasped.
"Well, tell them to quit." Light Mist snapped. "Star cat speak of trying days. Cats of man land, forest, and of nowhere pick side. When snow no longer on ground and my kin head to home of high peak." Twilight turned his mighty head to the mountains in the far distance.
Wolf Fur remembered Fish Scar's words.
It is time. Do as we say.
Their lives weren't safe here. Nor easy. Especially in this cold hard season. "Maybe if we get more of us, we could send your kin back to the mountains! It's the only option!" Wolf Fur declared, his white paws tingling in excitement.
"No offense Wolf Fur, but do you have feather-down in your ears? We can't drive off wolves!" Moth Foot meowed. "But if cats join us we can try." The young tom pointed out.
Gray Sky stood up. "Obviously we need to fight them off!" He unsheathed his claws. Twilight drew his lips in a snarl. "No! Only dead cat come of fighting!" He growled in rage. Wolf Fur flung himself back in fear, never seeing a creature so angry.
"It's clear we need to meditate on this matter with Little Ear. We should get back before we're frozen out here." Grass Shadow meowed.

Wolf Fur was pawing a rabbit he was eating beside his sister in camp. "I'm telling you, if there were more of us, we'd drive off the wolves for good." His voice was filled with determination. He told his sister about what happened on the patrol.
"Are you insane?" She asked her littermate. The tom sniffed. "No I'm not." He responded. "Look I know you wanna drive them out but-"
"We can try. If we can just get more cats," He was stopped by his sister this time.
"Everyone's too weak." She pointed out. And she was right. Flick was busy fussing over his only kit. Eagle's Speck's kits were still young, Dove's Pelt was expecting kits. And the rogue cats had done them in after that attack. Not to mention that Sage Pelt was still grieving for her dead brother.
Wolf Fur felt his hackles begin to rise. "The Ancestors told me it was time. We have to do what they say or they'll be furious with us.." He meowed.
"We are all weak from the rouge attack we must rest." The ginger tabby she-cat meowed. Wolf Fur huffed in annoyance and anger. She was right again.
"We will all suffer more than we already are if we choose now." She went on.
"But we can do it now and have it be done." He argued.
"But most of us will die!" She countered. Wolf Fur shook his head. "I just want the wolves gone. You know what they did to dad. Driving them out will mean we avenged him." He mewed.
"Father wouldn't want us to lead our group to death. A clan to death." Viper Strike told him. There was that strange word again. Where had his sister heard it? "He told me now is he time. Make our own Clans. We can join forces! Combined, we can send those mutts fleeing!"
"Clan?"
"What?"
"What's a.. Clan?" Their groupmates were watching it all unfold.
"They're wolves Wolf Fur! They are large! They have sharp teeth and claws and they kill cats!!!" She shrieked.
He and his sister were nose to nose. "I just want what's best for us! For our new home here! Maybe you don't see that.." he growled. "I have visions for the future. Our ancestors give them to me."
