Chapter 2

Viper Strike padded across the clearing.
"Viper Strike." A voice mewed her name. Ginger Foot padded over to her. "I never meant to snap at your brother." Turning around he held a mouse in his jaws. "I caught this earlier just for you." His purr was sweet.
Viper Strike looked at the mouse and sat down curling her tail over her paws. His eyes looked anxious and his claws seemed to flex in the snow.
The ginger tabby she-cat looked to her brother trying to talk to Violet Leaf, who had her back turned to him. They weren't mates yet, but hey sure acted like it.
Viper Strike sighed. "I guess it's alright Ginger Foot." She mewed. The white and ginger tom purred with delight and licked her ear in a sudden burst of affection.
Viper Strike rolled her eyes and smiled slightly. The ginger tabby she-cat looked back to her brother again. They weren't mates yet, but they sure acted like it.
"Violet Leaf I.. I'm really sorry.." he mewed. "You said that many times and it hasn't gotten you anywhere. And you've also said it won't happen again and you'll do better and complimented me. I want you to prove it to me and stop saying it."
"My my now." Sage Pelt purred in a quiet voice. A few of the other grown cats joined in a quiet huddle.
"I will prove it. I promise." The black and white tom meowed. His mew was determined.
"Then do it. And maybe I'll forgive you for acting moss-headed." She huffed. Wolf Fur's tail drooped. Violet Leaf sighed looking away. Hawthorn sat by Leaping Breeze. "Does this always happen?" She asked.
"Nope. But recently it has. Specifically with two couples." The reddish-brown eared she-cat replied.
"Wow." Owl mewed in astonishment. Wolf Fur sighed and looked deep in thought. He had to make it up to her somehow. Violet Leaf got up and padded to the fresh kill pile.
"Do you think he'll succeed?" Orchid Petal asked Grass Shadow.
"Maybe." The black she-cat replied. Flick twitched his ear while Wren played with his tail. "What will he do?"
"I do not know." Grass Shadow replied again. Wolf Fur went over and got fresh-kill as well. He looked down at his paws. Violet Leaf didn't look at him.
"Alright this is pitiful." Shade mewed and trotted over to the young tom. Wolf Fur feebly pawed at his food.
Violet Leaf padded away to Viper Strike who was going hunting. "Want to come?" The ginger tabby she-cat asked.
"Yes please." Her companion replied. The two she-cats walked out side by side.
Violet Leaf flicked her tail. "Your brother is desperate."
"I can see that." Viper Strike mewed. Violet Leaf nodded her black and ginger head. "He really wants your forgiveness. I agree he needs to work for it." She went on. Violet Leaf She nodded again. "He's a mosshead and I love him but..."
"But?" The green eyed she-cat mewed, wanting her friend to go on.
"He's too violent." Violet Leaf responded. She wasn't wrong. The young tom had been getting sort of eager lately. The ginger tabby she-cat nodded in agreement and touched her tail to her. "Hey, sometimes me means well.. he just wants to protect the group..."
"But why so...violent?" Violet Leaf stared her friend in the eyes, desiring for her question to be answered.
"After our father's vigil, I knew he was never the same.." Viper Strike meowed. "But he's still the same old Wolf Fur. Who loves you." She went on after hearing a sigh escape Violet Leaf. "I know." She smiled slightly. The ginger tabby she-cat smiled back.
"Come on." Viper Strike lead the way. Violet Leaf followed after her.

The pair of she-cats caught some decent prey. "Well done you two." Little Ear commented. Wolf Fur, chest puffed out slightly walked to Violet Leaf. "Um..? Violet Leaf? I thought about it and I wanted to make it up to you." He meowed. "You and me...? H-hunting?" The tom's eyes were soft.
Violet Leaf thought for a moment. "Alright."
"I'll make this right!" He purred happily. "I promise." His tail was fluffed up.
"When?" She asked the black and white tom. "Tonight?" He offered. "I-If that's okay!" He curled his tail around his paws in embarrassment.
"Sure why not." The black and ginger she-cat mewed. Wolf Fur smiled at her as she smiled slightly back.
