PSA: A cat can be named one of these after a family member too, under just about all circumstances. But also keep in mind, a cat can have a name that doesn't fit their physical description if it has another meaningful reason.

PELT: MARKINGS/TEXTURE

Brindle — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with brindle markings. These cats are always black, red, tawny, or brown mixes. All have a tortie pelt. Tortoiseshell is the same as a brindle cat. 

Bristle — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a coarse or messy fur.

Curl/Curly — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a curly fur which is rare.

Dapple — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a pattern of irregular patches or splotches of light pigment overlaying a darker base color.

Fleck/Flecked— (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a darker color flecked markings over their body that are a few shades darker than their overall pelt.

Fluff — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a fluffy or staticky fur.

Freckle/Freckled — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with spots resembling freckles.

Fringe — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a coarse or messy fur.

Fuzzy — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a kit-like fuzzy fur which is usually staticky and hard to groom.

Jagged — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with uneven or unruly/untamable fur.

Marble — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with two pelt colors. One the base, the other overlays in a marble pattern overtop. They can be any color, however these cats are most commonly  a tawny base with chocolate brown marble, or a silver base with darker silver marble .

Mask/Masked — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a racoon style bandit mask over its face.

Mottle— (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ Irregular spots, patches, or smears of color. Often a bi or tri colored cat.

Needle — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a messy fur that is usually sticking out all which ways.

Patch  — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with very large patches of color randomly, often a bi-color cat. These patches should cover about half the body overall.  Any color.

Prickle — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a messy fur that is usually sticking out all which ways.

Ragged — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with uneven or unruly/untamable fur.

Rosette — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ Often spots that are on a Bengal. They have more than one shade of color in each pattern. Spots that fades in color toward the middle and cover the body.

Satin — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with very silky fur, often thin and soft.

Shimmer — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with shiny fur that seems to catch the sun.

Shine/shiny — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with shiny fur that seems to catch the sun.

Silk — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with silky, soft fur. Often for cats who usually swim in water often.

Sleek — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with sleek, soft fur. Often thin for cats who usually swim in water often.

Soft — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A very soft, often thick haired cat with either long or short fur.

Speckle — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ Has very small dot-like spots along the ribcage, fading in color the lower they get the the underbelly. These cats are often are one color, with a darker shade as the spots and a lighter one as the base.

Spire — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a messy fur that is usually sticking out all which ways.

Spot/Spotted — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with a pattern of irregular patches or splotches of any color.

Stripe — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat covered in tabby stripes. Can be classic  or mackerel.

Sunder — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat who has many split, unruly hairs.

Tangle — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with unruly/untamable fur.  

Tattered — (𝙻𝚈𝚁𝙸𝙲𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A unruly cat at birth.

Thistle — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
⸻ A cat with prickly fur.

Torn — (𝚃𝚁𝙰𝙳𝙸𝚃𝙸𝙾𝙽𝙰𝙻)
