Snowdrops's POV
I was carefully sorting through the herbs, arranging them by type, when I heard the familiar sound of pawsteps approaching. Looking up, I saw my mother, Hareheart, padding towards me with a gentle smile on her face. Her presence always brought a sense of comfort, even amid the bustling activity of the camp.
"Hareheart!" I breathed, my heart lifting at the sight of her. "What can I do for you?"
As she drew nearer, I noticed the small bundle of orange and white fur cradled in her jaws—my little sister, Bearkit. Hareheart carefully set her down at my paws, her eyes filled with warmth and a hint of exhaustion.
"Please, can you help her sleep?" Hareheart asked, her voice soft but edged with fatigue. "She's been restless all morning, and I'm afraid I'm not much good at getting her to settle down."
I looked down at Bearkit, her bright eyes half-closed, but there was still a flicker of energy in her. "Of course! I'd be happy to help," I replied, smiling down at my sister. "Come here, little one."
Bearkit blinked up at me, her tiny body twitching with excitement. "I'm not tired!" she declared defiantly, though the droop in her eyelids suggested otherwise.
"Oh really?" I teased, lowering myself to her level. "What if I told you a story about brave warriors? Maybe it'll help you feel a bit sleepy."
Her ears perked up at the mention of warriors, and I could see her interest piquing despite her earlier protest. "Warriors?" she echoed, her voice a whisper now. "Like you and Mom?"
"Exactly," I said, glancing up at Hareheart for a moment, proud to share a connection between us. "There are so many brave cats in our Clan, and I have a special story just for you."
Hareheart watched with a tender smile as I settled into a comfortable position, Bearkit snuggling against my side. I began weaving a tale of great adventures—of Fireheart, who had faced fearsome foes and discovered the true meaning of courage.
As I spoke, I noticed Hareheart relaxing, her tension easing as she watched Bearkit's eyelids grow heavier with each word. My sister's small body slowly began to rise and fall with a more steady rhythm, and soon, she was nestled against me, fast asleep.
"Thank you, Snowdrop," Hareheart said softly, her voice filled with gratitude. "You have a real gift for calming her."
I smiled, feeling a warmth spread in my chest at her praise. "It's easy with such an adorable sister," I replied, gently smoothing Bearkit's fur. "She just needed a little distraction."
Hareheart's gaze softened as she looked down at Bearkit, her expression shifting to one of protectiveness. "I worry about her sometimes. I don't want her to grow up too fast or carry the weight of the world on her tiny shoulders."
I nodded in understanding. "I know what you mean. But as long as we're here for her, she'll always have support. We'll help her learn about the world in her own time."
Hareheart let out a small sigh, and I could see the love she held for both of us shining through. "You're wise beyond your moons, Snowdrop. I'm proud to have you as my daughter."
I felt my cheeks warm at her words, but before I could respond, Hareheart gave me a quick nuzzle. "I'll let you rest with her for now. I'll be in the medicine den if you need me."
"Alright," I replied, settling in more comfortably. "I'll keep an eye on her."
As Hareheart padded away, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over me. Bearkit was safe and sound, and in this moment, the world outside felt distant and unimportant. With the sun filtering softly through the trees, I continued my story, my voice a gentle murmur as Bearkit nestled closer, lost in dreams of adventure and courage.

Humming softly to myself, I padded through the forest, the scents of fresh earth and vibrant greenery filling the air. I was on a mission to gather herbs, my paws brushing against the cool leaves as I searched for anything useful. My thoughts wandered to the healing supplies we needed back at camp; every little bit counted.
Suddenly, I caught a whiff of something familiar. "Yarrow," I whispered to myself, but before I could follow the scent, I heard a rustle nearby. My heart raced a bit, wondering if it was a small creature scurrying about. Just then, Cinderpelt emerged from the underbrush, a cheerful smile on her face, a stick clamped in her jaws and cobwebs tangled around it.
"Snowdrop, hey!" she greeted, her voice warm and inviting as she dropped the stick at my paws.
"Hey, Cinderpelt!" I replied, my eyes brightening at the sight of her. "What are you doing out here?"
"I was just gathering some herbs," she said, tilting her head slightly. "I found this stick—it could be useful for treating wounds." She glanced at me knowingly, as if to say she'd found something more valuable than just a stick.
I chuckled softly. "Only you would think of a stick as a treasure!" I teased, nudging the stick away playfully. "I'm looking for herbs too. I thought I smelled some yarrow nearby."
Cinderpelt's ears perked up. "That's a good find! Yarrow is perfect for bringing down fevers," she encouraged. "Let's see if we can find it together."
As we walked side by side, I took in the beauty of the forest. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting a warm glow around us. I felt a sense of comfort being out here with Cinderpelt, who always seemed to know how to make any task feel lighter.
After a few moments of searching, I finally spotted the yarrow. "There it is!" I exclaimed, bounding over to the patch. My paws danced in excitement as I carefully plucked the vibrant green leaves.
"Great job, Snowdrop!" Cinderpelt praised, and I felt a warm flush of pride.
"Thanks! I've been practicing," I said with a grin, carefully placing the yarrow into my small bundle.
As we continued gathering herbs, I felt the bond between us grow stronger. There was something special about sharing these moments with her—the way we worked together seamlessly, the laughter that flowed naturally as we shared stories about our family and Clan.
Soon, our herb collection was growing, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment. "I think we've done enough for today," I suggested, looking down at the bundle of herbs. "Let's head back before it gets too late."
Cinderpelt nodded, her eyes sparkling with approval. "That sounds perfect. Besides, I could use a good meal after all this gathering!"
As we made our way back to camp, I felt lighter and more connected to my sister and the Clan. The forest, with its vibrant life, reminded me that we were all part of something bigger—each of us, like the herbs we gathered, playing a vital role in the healing and strength of our home.
