Chase P.O.V

"My people, Ready yourself for the upcoming war" I yelled looking at the Midnightian. "Our home is in danger, our people are in danger" I said looking around, "Threat is coming at our door and this time we will finish it" I yelled, every one shouted in acknowledgment. This people won't think twice before dying for their King, I am sure about that. I don't want my people to suffer from the upcoming danger but they need to know about what happen so they can prepare to save themselves. I know she will come here, my heart is telling me that she will be here and I will be prepare for her. 

"You are dismissed" I said, people starting walking out of the throne room mumbling with each other about the danger. "She will be here, isn't she?" Alex said staring at me alarmed , "I know, I will be waiting for her" I said clenching my fist in anger.

"But why will she be here, there is nothing she want from us?" he asked confused, his eye brow furrowed. 

 "She will be here for Alyssa because Alyssa is a powerful Witch and she can use her" I said remembering the time when Rose looked at Alyssa curiously, she could feel the power of her magic and I am sure she will be here. His eyes widened in shock and he clenched his jaw, I raised my eye brow at his behavior.

Am I missing something here?

"We will save her, right?" he asked staring at me with hopeful expression. "Do you by any chance not starting to like that Witch?" I asked frowning, his body tense all of a sudden "No, why would you think that" he said nervously,  I rolled my eyes. Liar. "But she is under our protection, we will protect her" he said, I sighed and nodded in response. I am not protecting that Witch just because she is under my wings, I am using her as a bait to get to Rose and get my mate back. Emerald is trapped inside that monster, I have to save her not because of my selfish reason, I want her back because she is the light of my darkness, I crave her, she is the only one who can control my demons. She made this stone heart beat again. When I get her back, I will never let her go. 

"We will protect her" I gave him my words.

"King Lorel is here to see you My liege" one servant came in the library when I was searching about the history of Rose.

There is something missing.

I wasn't fully convinced with the story Alyssa  told us, that's why I was in the library searching for clues or something to understand the motive behind Rose deeds. "Lead him to the Throne room, I will be there in a while" I said and he nodded in response, I wasn't surprised that he is here because he would have come here sooner than later. I turned around to search for more books which have even slightest bit of information about her. 

We don't even know what type of creature is she? By looking at her wings, it looks like she came direct from the hell  but we can't be sure.

I walked out of the library and made my way to the throne room, first thing I notice when I entered in the room was King Lorel was alone, he didn't have any guards with him, I quirked my brow but decided to let it go because we have a bigger issue to handle here.

"Welcome to my Kingdom, King Lorel" I said standing in front of him, he nodded his head, his facial expression wary. "I wouldn't have came here unannounced if the situation wasn't this dire" he said forcefully, a smirk appear on my face. His mean is he wouldn't want to step on the ground of my Kingdom because he hates us, well feeling is mutual. His face hardened seeing the smirk but he control himself. "She came in my Kingdom" he said instead, I raised my eye brow waiting for him to elaborate. "Rose, she came in my Kingdom, she wanted to know Cassandra whereabouts" he said, I frowned hearing this.

Cassandra is the most powerful witch of our time, what does Rose want with her?

"And?" 

"I didn't tell anything about her so she invaded my mind for the information" he said gritting his teeth. "And then she was gone" he said making me confused.

"She didn't kill anybody?" I asked curiously, he shook his head "She only snapped our Gate keeper neck, other than that she didn't harm any one" he replied, I scrunched my brow, she was thirsty for blood then why did she leave them unharmed. 

Is it because--

King Steve looked at me with a knowing look "she is still there somewhere" he murmured, I understand who the 'she' is here. "My daughter is still there, we can save her" he said, his voice waver a little. My eyes widened in shock.

Daughter?

"Emerald is your daughter?" I asked just to confirmed it. She said she was a Sabriyan but a Princess! I never asked her about her heritage because I wasn't least bit interested in the information. I should have guessed earlier, how she always carried herself, how she has air of authority around her, she is a royal blood. 

He looked at me in confusion "I thought you knew about it, that's why you have kidnapped her, didn't it?" he said curtly, his fist clenched when he said the word 'kidnap'. I shook my head "I never knew she was your daughter, I went to search for Rose and I found my mate instead" I said, he flinched at the mate part, whatever, I don't care if he approve this or not. Emerald is my mate and she belongs to me.  "I know you are her mate, It's just came as a surprise to me because Sabriyan doesn't get destined mate" he replied. "I am not letting her go, I don't care if we are enemies or not, she is my mate and she will stay with me" I said, no one can take her away from me. "I understand" he sighed "But we have to save her first" he said, his voice pained from losing his only daughter.      

I stared at him, his shoulder shagged, his eyes were dull, he looked defeated. "We will save her" I said, my voice filled with determination. He looked at me for a while searching for something in my eyes, I looked back without blinking then a slow smile appeared on his face "I am glad she has you" he said with approval. I furrowed my brow "What do you mean?" I asked to which he let out a small chuckle "It is difficult to not like her and I can see you care about her" he said smiling, I wanted to reject the idea but deep down I knew he was right. I do care about her more than I think that's why I haven't kill her yet.

"We will get her back" I assured him, just then Alexander entered in the room, he was breathing heavily "S-she killed everyone in the Witch town" he said panting, I quickly went beside him, "What happened there?" I asked grimly.

"She destroyed the whole town, not even one soul is spared" he said angrily, I growled clenching my fist in anger.

"Where is she going now? I asked in calm tone but from inside I was seething. 

"She is searching for Cassandra" King Lorel said coming and standing beside us. "And she won't stop until she finds her" he said, his body tense. I frowned "We have to stop her before she finds her".

"Call the Red head Witch and tell her to do a tracking spell to search Rose" I said to Alexander, he nodded without questioning and went away.

"You know she is too powerful for us" King Lorel said looking at me "Its the fight we can not win" he continued.

I shake my head "No, we will win, We have to!"

(Evening before the Ball)

"What are you doing here?" I asked staring at her, she was sitting on the couch outside in the garden staring at the sky. She looked at me and turned around again to stare at the sky "I am watching the sun set" she murmured lowly, her eyes shining bright.

What's so mesmerizing in watching sun set?

I turned around to walk away from there, I don't have time to waste on useless stuff. "You know, nothing is constant in life, if there are sorrow in one moment then there would be happiness in next, this sun reflect that he has to go away every night but he will come back tomorrow filling us with light" she said with content. I raised my eye brow at her behavior, she is acting differently. 

"Are you alright?" I asked standing in front of her blocking her view, she sighed and looked at me, her eyes were glittering with tears. She scoffed, her face turned into a scowl "I am fucking perfect" she snapped and stood up from her seat. I narrowed my eyes at her, she quickly rubbed her eyes "Don't act civil with me, I don't need your sympathy" she glared and walked away from there leaving me bewildered at her behavior.

I was just curious about her, Its been almost a month that she is here, she always face whatever shit I throw at her, never breaking but today I saw the crack in her facade. But she is still optimistic about the situation.

I sighed and sat on the same couch she was just sitting staring at the sun set, marveling the view for the first time.

She was right, it does look mesmerizing.

"Where is she?" I asked to the Witch, she sighed and closed her eyes muttering some spell under her breath. We were in the throne room, Witch came here with her voodoo stuff to perform tracking spell. She groaned and opened her eyes looking at me "I can't find her, her energy is too extreme to track" she said, her shoulder sagging, I growled "What do you mean, you can't find her, you are the powerful witch, Can't you just do an easy spell like tracking" I glare, Alexander quickly stand beside her "Brother she is trying" he said  on her behalf, I rolled my eyes "I need result" I said gritting my teeth and walked away to the nearby window.  Sun was just setting in the sky and it will be night soon. I looked at the sky remembering Emerald. The evening before the ball when she was upset and I made her more upset and angry. I sighed and went back to stand in front of Witch again. 

"Maybe you can use Chase to find Emerald" King Lorel said coming towards us, I raised my eyes brow in confusion. "You are her mate, you have a connection with her even if she is not herself now, she is still her" he said staring at the Witch, she smiled and nodded "We can do that".

She made a deep cut on my palm and took my blood to perform the spell. "Do it fast" I muttered annoyed, she rolled her eyes "Patience is a virtue" she said and started her spell closing her eyes. 

"What will we do when we finds her?" Alexander said staring at the Witch, I sighed "I don't know". 

"It happened before, isn't it?" I asked to King Lorel, he looked at me and slightly nodded "It happened but never like that, Emerald only lose control for a little bit and then come back but this time it is different, its like she doesn't even recognize us" he said. 

"Is there any way to get her back?" I asked 

"I am not sure" he shook his head.

Just then Witch eyes flew opened and she shuddered "I found her" she murmured staring at us but her eyes has a faraway look on them.

"Where is she?" I asked urgently, she looked at me in fear, her eyes widened in fright and she looked behind me.

"Here" A new voice said which I recognized all to well.

I turned around and glare at her, she was smirking looking at us but her eyes fixated on Witch who quickly stood up and stand beside Alexander. Her eyes fell on King Lorel "Hello again, Daddy dearest" she said with wide smile, King Lorel glared at her in return. Then her eyes found mine "Hello love, did you miss me?" she said in her cheery voice, I growled at her "What do you want?" I asked covering the view when her eyes flickered to Witch again.

"Nothing much, I was just passing through so I thought to say my greetings" she blinked innocently, I scoffed at this bull shit. "Really" I said sarcastically, she stare at me with small smirk on her face "You don't believe your mate" she said sighing. She act really well, one minute she is so innocent and next she is evil. "You are not my mate" I snapped, this monster can never be my Emerald. "Awe, but she is here some where" she said pointing to her heart and I glared at her. 

She chuckled "Well, I am here to get that Witch" she said staring at the Witch, her eyes shining brightly, "No can do" I said flexing my arms, I know she is about to attack and things are going to get ugly soon. She frowned "I wasn't asking" she said and in instance move forward to get to the Red head, I quickly stand in front of her and pushed her away, she fell on the floor with the force and glared at me. She quickly stood up dusting herself. "Not good King" she said and put her arms on her hips. "You are not touching her" I glared at her, she smirked "Do I detect kindness here" she said laughing, "I never thought I would see the day where you would protect someone" she made a 'tsk' sound not believing what she is seeing.

"Why would it matter to you, you will never understand" I scoffed.

She rolled her eyes "I don't need to understand and she need to die" she said, her eyes going back to the Witch.

"Why are you hiding behind him, I thought you were very powerful Witch but it turn out it was all just a facade" she sighed in mock sadness. "Leave before I ripped you apart" I threatened her, she put both of her hands on her mouth pretending to be shock. "You will kill your own mate for a Witch" she gasp putting her hand to her heart, I rolled my eyes "You are no mate of mine!" I said with disgust. 

She sighed "But she feel something for you" she said staring at me "Do you want to know what she feel for you?" I stare back at her blankly. Of course I want to know what Emerald think of me because I have only given her pain for the time she was here.            

"Disgust" She laughed and my face fell a little but I quickly hide it. I know she is lying to anger me.

"My daughter is not like you, she always help others and save life, you on the other hand are a monster" King Lorel said furiously staring down at Rose. 

"But is she here?" Rose said smirking which made me angry. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths to control my anger. 

She is planning something. 

I opened my eyes and stare directly at her, "Don't worry we will get her back as soon as I get rid of you" I said smirking, she glowered at me "Well one can always dream".

She opened her arms wide and a mist appear on her hands, she directed the mist towards us, I frowned recognizing it quickly, "She wants to suffocate us" I yelled quickly when the mist came closer to us. Her powers are lethal.  "I have got it" Red head muttered and put a shielding spell in front of us which stopped the mist coming close to us. Rose stare at us and smirked "That's good, I wouldn't want it to be easy" she said and took back the mist. 

"Can you put a spell that will stop her from getting out of here" I murmured loud enough for Red head to hear, she shook her head "She is too powerful for that, she will break right through it" she replied back. I nodded and looked at King Lorel "Got something?" I asked sneaking a glance at him, "Not yet" he said, Alexander who was silent all this time spoke up "You know what you have to do brother" he said with knowing tone, I nodded not looking at him.

"I know" I whispered and looked at Rose.
