Next day, we started our journey again without any obstacle. After our talk last night, I went back to sleep, I was tossing and turning all night trying to stop his words getting to me.

I won't let you die.

His voice ringing in my head. He said this with so much conviction that I believed him for the time being.But I know better to trust on his words. They are just words to deceive me.

We step out of the forest and walked to a dirt path, silence surrounding us.

Can't they just use teleportation so that we can save the time  

"Alex" I called him, he looked at me curiously, as he walked towards me "What is it?" he asked joining beside me. "Doesn't anyone of you know teleportation?" I asked, I am tired of walking, my body is giving up on me. He chuckled "No, we Midnightian doesn't have that power", my shoulder slumped with his response. At time like this, I really miss my powers.

I was so used to them that I never thought I had to live without them one day

We walked on the path, this morning we got some fruits from the forest to fill our stomach, but they weren't enough because my stomach is grumbling again in hunger. "I am hungry" I said loud to no one in particular, Annalise scoffed from beside Chase, she was practically leaning on him. 

How cute.

"Just wait for a little bit, we will find something on the way" Chase said  casually without looking at me, I frowned, I would have waited for a whole day if my condition was not this dire. Will looked at me sighing, I tried to smile back, not to show him my condition, my feet are swell and I am feeling sore all over my body. My eyes were blurring due to lack of sleep. "You look like shit" Caleb said from the other side, his voice light, I rolled my eyes, he always have to joke "I feel like shit" I replied back. "Where is the lover boy?" Alex whispered near my ear startling me, I scowl at him, "Don't do that", he just shrug his shoulder sheepishly, then I realize he said something, I looked at him, "Who is lover boy?" I asked, confusion clearly written on my face. 

"Your best friend Will"  He said wiggling his eye brows, I elbowed him in his ribs with full force, as much force as I can use in this condition, he chuckled obviously not feeling the pain of my weak blow, "He is not a lover boy" I said as I looked around me and as Alex said he wasn't there.

Where the hell he went?

I frowned and stopped walking, "Caleb, where is Will?" I asked him looking at him questionably, he stopped and looked around. Everyone stopped as well "Why are we stopping?" Annalise annoyed voice speak, Chase looked directly at me, his eye brow raised in question, But I didn't replied to him, instead I started shouting Will name, turning around and going back from where we came, Caleb quickly followed me as well as Alex, "Did he tell you something?" Cal said walking beside me, keeping up to my pace. I shook my head, Will was walking beside me one moment and in next he was gone, 

Is he in some danger?

He can take care of himself very well but we are in unknown territory, I don't want any bad thing to happen to him just because he came here to save me. "William" I shouted, cupping my hands in front of my mouth, suddenly I heard footsteps from right direction, I quickly moved towards it, then I saw Will walking in our direction, holding different type of fruits in his hand. I sighed in relief and ran to him hugging him, "Where were you?" he was startled by my hug but nonetheless returned it, after breaking the hug, he showed me the fruits he was holding in his hands, "You were hungry" he said gesturing to the fruits, I chuckled and punched him on the shoulder, "So, you would go in the forest without telling any one, you had me worried" I snapped but I was smiling, he brought me food. "I was worried as well" Caleb said coming towards us and punching Will on the shoulder, he winced from the impact. I chuckled, he should get more punches for pulling this stunt.

"Now, eat" Will said giving me all the fruits he gathered, There were berries, green apples, pears and many more, Caleb quickly snatched a pear from my hand, I rolled my eyes but let him have it, I pop one berry in my mouth, its sweet taste hit my taste bud making me close my eyes in pleasure.

"Its delicious" I said popping more berries in my mouth, Alex came to us, as well as others "You went to get FRUITS" Annalise voice screeched making me rub my ears, she is so loud, "She was hungry" Will replied to which she rolled her eyes and looked other way, Will sighed.

Why is he explaining to her?

I squinted my eyes at Will, there is something going on which I am not aware about. I looked at Caleb, he just shrug in response.

"If your hide and seek game is over, shall we move along" Chase said loudly looking directly at me, I scoffed, it wan't a game, I was worried about my friend you asshole. "Yes your highness, we should" I replied in mocking voice and started to walk forward. Suddenly Chase came beside me and started walking side by side with me. "You are ill, that's why I am letting you use this kind of tone on me" his voice cold, he was staring ahead.  

Whatever

I need not to reply to him, after I will be cured, I will see his your highness self.

I ate the remaining food while walking, he was still beside me, his facial expression blank. I raised my eye brow, where is his Queen, I looked back, she was walking alone and Will was behind her, her face has a scowl on. 

Well she always looks like that, no surprise here.

Then Will said something which was too low for my ears and I have lost my enhanced hearing to hear their conversation. I narrowed my eyes in confusion. Chase chuckled from beside me. "What?" I said cocking my head towards him.

"You don't know, do you?"

"Know what?" I asked wary

"They are mates" he said casually, I stopped in my track not moving.

They are mates? How?

I was stunned in silence. How can this bitch be mate of my best friend. How can fate allowed this to happen. I am not believing this but deep down I was suspicious when they stole glances at each other, when suddenly Annalise behavior changed. There were signs but I was too preoccupied to notice them.

He turned around to look at me, smirk evident on his face, "We don't have all day"

I glared at him and turned around, walked forcefully to William, he was staring at Annalise. I took his arm in my hand and stopped him. "Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, my voice icy, we are best friend and he is hiding this important part of his life from me. "Tell you what?" he asked confused, by then everyone stopped to stare at. "When were you going to tell me that you found your beloved mate" I asked fake smiling at him and gritting my teeth. His expression morphed into guilt.

So Chase was right.

"I wanted to tell you, but it wasn't a good time" he tried to explain, I scoffed, good time my ass. He just had to say four word that he found his mate but he didn't. I am angry at him not because Annalise is his mate, I am angry because he didn't care enough to tell me. He opened his mouth again but I held my hand in silence gesture "No need to explain anything to me, Its your life, your choices, Congratulation by the way" with that I turned around and walked away from him.

We were taking rest after covering half of the ground, if we continue with this pace, we will be able to reach our destination by tonight. I was sitting against a tree away from these people. I needed some peace and silence which can only be possible if I am away from them. My eyes are red due to exhaustion and weakness but if some one see me like this, they will think that I have being crying. Well actually I did cry for a bit feeling betrayed by him but I should have understand that why he didn't want to tell me because she is an enemy, because of my condition, my mind is not working properly.

"Hey" Caleb sat beside me leaning against same tree. I hummed in response, "You okay?" he asked, I can feel his stare on me while my eyes were close. "I am fine" I muttered without opening them, my voice sounded weak even to my own ears. "You don't look fine to me" he stated poking me, I groaned "I am exhausted-"

"-And sad" he said pressing his lips together.

"I told you I am fine" 

"And I told you, I know you more than you know yourself" he said smirking, I put my head on his shoulder for support. "I am just sad that he didn't trust me enough to tell me" I said looking at the trees stretching  entire forest. "Me too, I didn't know about it as well" he said , I looked at him curiously, he is taking this news normally. "How are you doing this?" I asked frowning, he chuckled "Maybe he has some reason to hide it from us" he said in his know it all tone, I rolled my eyes "We will see".

Just then I heard shouting, we quickly stood up in alert position, my sword instantly in my hand.

We made our way to the others, they were on the ground groaning in pain, while Chase fought a girl, she was facing the other way, her hair blonde wearing warrior attire, swords in both of their hands clashing to each other. Caleb was frozen beside me. I raise my sword to attack the girl but halt in my steps when I saw the familiar bracelet shining in her left wrist.

"Katherine" I whispered.
