Chapter 8.
"Andoria!" Queen Nalia cried as Andoria walked into the throne room with two guards behind her. "You've finally arrived!"
"You've grown, you look so poor!" Delphinea laughed. "It's a surprise you could hide for so long!"
"You're definitely more mature," Queen Nalia noted and looked at the guards. "Did you guys check for weapons?"
"None," The guard replied.
"You've come to your death, Andoria," Queen Nalia announced. "You were arrogant then, and arrogant now. That will be your cause of death."
Queen Nalia's tone darkened and she made an evil smile. "Torture her and display her head outside the kingdom."
Andoria remained unfazed.
"You know your highness..." Andoria started to say. "I've never called you mother."
Andoria then laughed. "Well mother, you are right about one thing, I'm arrogant."
She then grabbed a ball and threw it on the ground. A dozen guards appeared near her.
"Salona Knights?!?" Queen Nalia shouted. "W-What?!"
"Protect the queen!" A Salona guard cried out.
Andoria grabbed her arrow and directed it at her mother and sister.
"Take her, not me!" Delphinea cried and pushed her mother.
Andoria then fired the arrow and shot it at Delphinea's back. She then fell and bled to death.
Seeing this as a distraction, Queen Nalia then fled the throne room. Andoria then quickly followed her.
"WAIT ANDORIA!" Dior shouted but Andoria kept running.
She wasn't going to miss her chance.
Andoria finally cornered Queen Nalia in a room.
"It's over queen, you let in a traitor," Andoria said. "How does it feel to stand there defenseless? I was you 5 years ago. Now it's time for your end, your majesty."
"If I go down, you go down with me, The late king and you are the same." Queen Nalia shouted. "I should've killed you when you were a baby. You aren't even my child! You are that- that disgusting commoner!"
"I am a royal, and he was going to divorce me for a commoner?! Never! I poisoned him so he could die a painful death, then killed his lover," She blurted out.
"No wonder you treated me not as your own," Andoria gritted her teeth. "You are a monster, you were never fit to be queen."
"And you think you are?!" She asked and then laughed. "You are stupid enough to fall into a trap here. Do you think you can rule an empire with just justice?!"
Hundreds of Sterulia guards then surrounded them.
"This is the most protective place in the empire," She cackled. "There are over 100 soldiers here."
Queen Nalia then pointed at her. "Behead her. Now."
One of the guards raised his sword.
"You- I am your future queen," Andoria said and turned to Queen Nalia. "All your soldiers know that in the back of your mind, once I kill the current queen the throne is mine."
Andoria turned to the guards with a sympathetic look. "Remember Sterulia Empire before the king died? I'll turn it back to what it was meant to be."
The guards still held their stern gaze.
They didn't believe her.
Andoria smiled. "I know this is your job but think for the other people. Either you stand back and respect your future queen," Andoria's eyes then darkened. "Or you all will suffer the consequences when I'm crowned."
"What?! You can't do that!" Queen Nalia retorted. "They are under the obligation to help ME! They will die if they don't!"
"They won't die if you are gone first," Andoria said.
Suddenly, A guard behind Andoria raised his sword, but Andoria kicked him in the shin and he dropped his sword and fell to the ground.
"Have you decided?" Andoria asked the guards. "Continue following the evil deeds that your current queen does, or join the new revolution."
Andoria turned to the queen. "You want to know the reason I came back? I came back for the citizens."
One guard then bowed down and the others followed him.
"N-No!" Queen Nalia stammered. "This wasn't meant to work out like this! I-I was meant to-"
"A queen has no power without her people. Don't you know hope is more powerful than fear?" Andoria asked. "I know you are like this out of jealousy and sadness that my biological father never loved you. But because of your mistakes, many lives have been lost."
Andoria looked down. "Even with everything, you could never get the love you wanted. I'm sorry for the way you turned out."
"I didn't have anything! I don't have the beauty that your father liked!" Queen Nalia blurted out. "In this world, outer beauty is more important than inner beauty. No one gives a chance to see if you're beautiful on the inside if you aren't on the outside."
Andoria took a deep breath and prepared her arrow at the queen.
"I-I never wanted it to end like this," Queen Nalia trembled.
"I never knew who you truly were, mother," Andoria confessed. "But now on the brink of death, I can get a glimpse of what you were before jealousy and greed. I guess we don't know who someone is before their death."
Andoria let out a sad smile. "Goodbye, mother."
I wish I could go back in time, maybe I wouldn't be so evil if I wasn't controlled by jealousy. Queen Nalia thought and braced herself.
Queen Nalia smiled. My mistake.
Andoria then shot the arrow.

FLASHBACK
A younger version of Queen Nalia watched as a man paced around the room.
"I'm in love with her, Nalia!" The man cried.
"What about me, Halrond?!" Queen Nalia shouted. "I love you! Is it because she's prettier?! What about our children?!"
"I love our children to death, but I cannot keep lying to you! I never loved you!" King Halrond blurted out. "I was forced into this marriage because you kept annoying my father. You never let me free! I couldn't even hang around my friends! You are just jealous of her."
"Call it jealousy! It's just I fear losing you!" She replied. "She doesn't deserve you! She is a disgusting person that's just using you for the throne!"
"I can't accept insults to myself, but not to her!" He angrily shouted.
"You treated me like a fool! Telling you to love me while lying!" Queen Nalia retorted. "How dare you?! I'm the queen!"
She got what I wanted to get for years, just like that. Queen Nalia thought.
"You are making me hate you by clinging on to me!" King Halrond argued. "I already have had a child with her! Her name is Andoria and she will be the next queen."
"WHAT?!" She screamed. "What about our two children? Delphinea is meant to be queen! I've been so kind to you..."
"I'm sorry, you are such a kind person but..." He hesitated. "I don't love you."
I've been tricked... My kindness... Went to waste. She thought. I saw the signs but I convinced myself I was overreacting.
You have been lied to.
No one will love you if you are unattractive.
No one wants an ugly queen.
"P-Please!" She pleaded, trying to shut the voices in her head.
"I'm sorry... I want a divorce."
Queen Nalia's love for him turned into pure hatred. A new emotion popped up.
Vengeance.
"I understand," Queen Nalia answered.
King Halrond's eyes lit up. "I knew you would understand! I'm so sorry. I'll give you the noble title and you can live freely for the rest of your life!"
Queen Nalia then grabbed a cup of tea, and when Halrond wasn't looking, she poured a few drops of the poison she had always kept inside her pocket for emergencies.
"Cheers to finding your happiness!" Queen Nalia exclaimed and gave him the tainted tea and grabbed a normal tea for herself. "I wish you the best!"
King Halrond drank the tea and suddenly started coughing. His legs went weak and he dropped to the floor.
"W-what did you do...?" He coughed.
***
"Telerie..." He whispered as Queen Nalia brought a beautiful, pale brown-haired lady into the room, covered in scars and eyes closed.
He sobbed and held her hands with the last strength he had. Then, his eyes stopped blinking and he went limp.
What have I done?! Queen Nalia thought as she watched the dead couple.

"Are you okay?!" Dior asked and hugged Andoria.
"Yes..." Andoria nodded as the guards carried the dead queen.
"I'm so glad you managed to escape that..." Dior murmured, choking back tears.
"Teacher?" Andoria asked, surprised by his tears.
"Aren't we family?" Dior asked with a smile.
Andoria then leaned her head on his shoulder.
"Sister?" A voice asked.
Andoria let go and turned around. She saw her sister Theia, her hair down, wearing ragged clothes.
"Theia!" Andoria exclaimed and Theia hugged her tightly. "I've done it, I'm so sorry for taking so long."
"I'm so proud of you, sister," Theia said. "You've done the impossible."
