Chapter 11: Thy who mourn

-Hollyleaf-
"Its down to the last eight." She muttered while Crowfeather ate his prey and she did the same. The two had been well nourished in the den, only going out to hunt for entertainment and see who died. Hollyleaf wondered how her brother was faring right now.
"Yeah. What about it?" He asked and Hollyleaf looked down
"The games will be over soon." Hollyleaf didn't like the topic she was pushing at but this needed to be negotiated.
"Fine." Crowfeather sat up, a scowl printed over his face. "When three more cats die and we're down to five, we'll go our separate ways." Hollyleaf nodded in agreement and began to eat.

"Crowfeather." She asked and he looked at her.
"Have you killed anyone yet?" She asked and Crowfeather nodded.

"I finished Pebble off when stealing supplies from the Tribe cats. She was in a lot of pain after Nightcloud had stabbed her with a sharp stick. You killed Tawnypelt though." Hollyleaf sighed.

"It was self defense." She snorted
"Pebble attacked me too. I was also protecting myself." Crowfeather responded.
"Anyway, what do you think killed all those cats earlier today?"
"Hm.... I don't know. It couldn't be the tribe cats because now only Talon remains and Tigerheart too." Right then a guttural growl sounded outside the cave.
"What was that?" Hollyleaf crawled out of the den, followed by Crowfeather. Only to see a ugly sight. There was a small group of dogs. All had cat scratches and blood on their faces and paws. Hollyleaf could faintly smell many cats on their pelts.
Rushpaw, Willowshine, Dawnpelt, Heathertail, Jag..... These were the Game Creators' dogs.
The dogs turned and their eyes locked on the two black cats.
"Run." Crowfeather whispered and Hollyleaf stiffened.
"RUN!" He snarled and the two bolted for their lives. The dogs on their tails.

Hollyleaf tried to yowl above the blood rushing in her ears.
"Climb a tree! We'll lose them there!" Crowfeather yowled back his approval and ran to a tree, Hollyleaf behind him.
Hollyleaf kept climbing but found her claws were struggling to dig into the bark and she stopped. Then pain shot down her spine as a dog latched onto her tail. Hollyleaf wailed in pain and Crowfeather looked at her before he darted up higher into the tree.

"No! Crowfeather don't leave me!" Hollyleaf wailed and felt her grip begin to slip.
"Duck!" Crowfeather yowled and before Hollyleaf could ask, a splintered branch plummeted toward her. She pressed her body against the trunk and watched as the branch punctured through the dog's eye. The dog howled in agony before falling to the ground, twitching as it gave in to the darkness of death. Hollyleaf also realize a thick black tuft of bloodied fur was still trapped in the dog's mouth. Hollyleaf slid down the tree before she realized the blood dripping from her tail. Hollyleaf's eyes began to glaze over and she fell to the ground. Crowfeather jumped down beside her.

"Hollyleaf! Hollyleaf stay with me! Its just a bite. I'll go to the den and grab the medicine! Hang in there." Hollyleaf felt the world slipping away as the blood flow rapidly increased and she faded away into the dark tides of unconsciousness.
Crowfeather ran to the den, hunting for the medicine. He snatched it up and ran in Hollyleaf's direction, then he heard the thunder. His speed increased until he reached Hollyleaf who was only limp. She looked so innocent and if it weren't for the torn off tail tip and the pool of blood around her, she would look like she was asleep.
Crowfeather hurriedly applied the medicine to her tail but she blinked open her lush green eyes.
"Father?" She asked and Crowfeather stiffened. She never had called him that.
"Yes, Hollyleaf?" He asked, struggling to hide his worry and anxiety
"D-Do you remember when you first saw me after I disappeared?" She asked and Crowfeather nodded
"Y-you had joy in your eyes....." Crowfeather struggled to see the dying warrior and only saw the sweet, innocent apprentice he first knew her as. His daughter.

"I-I love you, father......Tell mother I love her too.....will you?" Crowfeather pressed his nose to hers
"Y-Your going to get to tell her. Your going to go home to Leafpool...and Squirelflight....You'll go home soon..." he whispered and Hollyleaf let out a weak laugh.
"I-I love you father..... Let the clans know that..... Let them know you won't become a heartless killer for the rogues......Promise me?" She asked and Crowfeather nodded

"Good....... I'll....watch over you.... from Starclan...." then Hollyleaf's eyes slid closed and her lips curved into the smallest smile. Then the thunder sounded.
Crowfeather felt his eyes well up with tears. He buried his face in her still warm pelt and he began to bitterly sob.
"I-I love you....my daughter." he whispered he looked up at the sky. The skies lit up and displayed Hollyleaf's face. Almost immeadielty a high pitched wail of grief pierced the air and Crowfeather realized it must be Lionblaze. Crowfeather turned to the dead dog that had brought his daughter so much pain. He felt grief pierce his heart, followed by anger.
"I-I'll show them, my daughter. I'll show them I will never disobey the warrior code. I will win that way. For you..." He stood up.
"FOR THE CLANS!" He yowled and charged into the forest.
-Lionblaze-
Sobs racked his body.
"I-I'm so sorry." Whitekit murmured and Lionblaze smiled at her, although his tear stained face made it seem fake.
"A-At least she isn't in these horrible games anymore." Moonkit said, trying to make good of the situation.
"Yeah. Now she will get to be with our ancestors." Lionblaze smiled at them and then realized. He decided to talk when they were eating
--
"I think we should seperate." He said out of no where. The kits stared at him.
"What?! Why?!" Whitekit asked and Lionblaze looked down
"This is the last seven. Dovewing, Tigerheart, Talon, Me, You, and Moonkit and Crowfeather."
"I honestly don't want to have to end up with you guys as the final three. I couldn't bring myself to kill either of you." Lionblaze looked down and the kits looked at each other.
"When one more cat dies, we'll go our own ways. Alright?" Whitekit asked and the alliance nodded. They would seperate after the next death
(How did your feels fare when Hollyleaf died? Anyway, who do you think will win? Comment down below)
