Chapter 7
Echoflight woke to Dawnmist shaking her. "Quick! You've got to go to the gathering island! You might have someone to treat!"
"And that was worth waking me up for?" Echoflight sneered before rising to her paws. "Alright."
As they walked, Echoflight had a thought. What would they call the cave? If she was becoming official, then it needed a name.
"The Cave of Peace," Echoflight tested the name on her tongue. It sounded perfect.
Dawnmist realized what she was doing and nodded. "There! She's right there. Go!"
Echoflight padded to the centre of the gathering island, where she found Amberclaw of RiverClan.
"There you are! I've been waiting for you for ages!" Amberclaw spoke up.
Echoflight purred in amusement. "Good patience."
"Actually, that's what I need help with. I don't have patience and I keep yelling at my Clanmates. Make it stop!" Amberclaw ordered.
Alright, jeez. Better not let her see my uncertainty, though. I was expecting someone like Dawnmist.
Echoflight mewed, "Alright, calm down. After all, that's what I'm here to help you with. This is what we need to do. In two nights, time, meet me here, yes, right here, the gathering island. I'm going to bring you to a place called the Cave of Peace. It's a cave a little out of Clan territory. Dawnmist and I use it as our place."
"Okay," Amberclaw nodded. I wonder what she's thinking?
"And...don't tell anyone about this stuff. It wasn't meant to be this dramatic. Just...a new role in the Clans, I guess." Echoflight thought about possible scenarios where everyone would expose her to be a fraud. One cat at a time, Echoflight. One cat at a time.
"Alright, I won't," Amberclaw retorted. I see. Yes, she really needs help. I can see in her eyes the trouble her anger's been giving her.
Echoflight dipped her head before leaping onto the tree-bridge, waving her tail.
Exactly two nights later, Echoflight met Amberclaw at the gathering island. They walked in silence, Amberclaw clearly wary of Echoflight. Echoflight suspected that the ginger she-cat was going to tell everyone very soon. It doesn't matter. I guess its time, anyway.
They reached the Cave of Peace, Amberclaw's expression turning from anger to amazement. She took in the glowing river and the soft moss. "I see."
Echoflight breathed in a sigh of relief as Amberclaw's angry expression turned into a peaceful one. "You're really legit. I thought it'd be fake or something."
Echoflight let out a small purr. "White Doves don't lie."
Amberclaw dipped her head in respect and sat down, setting herself comfortably. "How does it work?"
"Well, you have anger issues," Echoflight mewed nervously, afraid she'd mess it up. "I'd start with some breathing exercises. You should breath in, count to seven, then breathe out. You can repeat this as many times as you need."
Amberclaw tilted her head curiously and closed her eyes. A few heartbeats later, she opened her eyes in amazement. "It works! I haven't felt this peaceful in ages!"
Echoflight felt a warmth settle in her and she purred loudly. "You can also do exercise, maybe run some laps in your territory, climb some trees, you know, push yourself, but you need to know when to stop. Take breaks as well, sometimes being around cats can make you very angry."
Amberclaw nodded. The ginger she-cat seemed to be taking the information and memorizing it very quickly.
Echoflight nodded in the general direction of outside the cave. "Go exercise. Stretch your muscles. Be tired for a bit."
Amberclaw looked somewhat reluctant. "What if there are foxes or badgers?"
"You'll be fine. You're a warrior," Echoflight snorted.
Amberclaw shrugged and padded outside. When the sun began to show, she came back in, extremely puffed. But she seemed more peaceful. Much more peaceful. Her tail had stopped twitching and her eyes were still.
"Thanks, that really helped," Amberclaw breathed in wonder. "I'm always worried about getting in trouble. My Clanmates call me the Star Warrior. I get to eat first, order cats around, but it isn't really fun. I want to be a normal Clanmate, but every time I mess up, they get really mad and I get so disappointed. I feel as if I've let them down and I love them. I don't want to let them down. But when one of them irritates me, even if it's just a little, I always start a fight. And my Clanmates always back me because I'm the Star Warrior. I need to learn to control myself, and I think you've helped me."
Echoflight felt moved and she ran forward, pressing into the ginger she-cat and nuzzling her. "You'll be a great warrior."
A/N - I'm sorry about the short chapter but I didn't plan this chapter very well and as a result, it didn't turn out too well. I'll try have a longer chapter next time!
