Jake is adorable and amazing and he's super awesome.

Before writing this, I was thinking... Hmm, yeah, I think Jake is alright. Then I went back and read Tallstar's Revenge again, and read Pinestar's Choice.

He had just the most caring, thoughtful, kind, fun personality that a cat could want in a friend. Not only his acceptance of Pinestar but also his utter devotion to Tallstar during that book - their parting scene will always have me in tears because it became so clear about how much he had affected Tallstar, an impact that would probably stay with him his entire life - is just so admirable.

Jake was willing to make sure that Tallstar was happy even at the cost of his own happiness, which shows how selfless he was. If that isn't mate material, I don't know what is.

I think the only thing that bothers me slightly is the idea that he doesn't care about his kits; as far as we know, he had no further interest in Rusty's litter - although that's hard to tell, since we never meet his mother, or any of his kittypet kin outside of Princess - and didn't visit Quince with hers, though if I recall correctly in the Scourge manga there is a picture of him...

Hold on, sorry, a bit off topic here, but I just realised... Why did these random twolegs who don't own Jake have a picture of him? If I'm not remembering right, there might not be a picture, but I'm pretty sure Quince was looking at a framed photograph of Jake and thinking something like, "I wish you could see them now"... I would check, but I don't have the physical copy. It's on my Kindle, and my sister is borrowing it (I got her hooked onto warriors! She's reading Leafpool's Wish right now).

Okay, back on topic.

Actually, there's not much more to say. Jake is an adorable fluffy ginger cat, and has the best relationship with Tallstar, though I wish we could know whether he cares for the kits he had with those two cats, or whether his heart was with his old friend the entire time. But yeah, he's pretty awesome.
