28. Birchfall

Thanks to drizzlesky- for suggesting this cat!

I always thought Birchfall was really sweet.

He was so cute as a kit/young apprentice, and I always felt sorry for him having no littermates to play with, especially as Hollykit and Larchkit died so young.

I loved the slow-developing relationship between him and Whitewing, and how there was first admiration, then a spark of jealousy and annoyance, then the final love. It was dainty and pretty.

I wasn't such a fan of his naivity when he joined the dark forest without knowing, but he soon for back into my good books when I realised that it wasn't for real.

I love how he treats his kits with love. Some toms, naming no names, (COUGH COUGH, SPIDERLEG, COUGH COUGH) seem to forget that they are as much a parent as the mother is. But not Birchfall. He seems to love his kits with everything he has, and also his mate. I love this.

However, at points he does seem to be a filler character. He isn't mentioned as much in a few of the books and hardly does much. I would've loved to see him in a few more books. But that can't be changed now. No point crying over spilt milk, as they say.

So overall, I quite like Birchfall. He isnt quite favourite character quality, but he's definitely up the top end of my character. Definitely on my nice list.
