|~|🌺Separated Yet Together: Rosestar(OC)xTailstar(OC)🌺|~|

Thank you @countryuk for requesting again! You're amazing :]

Remember to tell me if you have any suggestions for it and I'll probs get to fixing it!

Now let's read the one-shot :)

"Tonight is the gathering, Moonstar," Mouseheart, the deputy of Roseclan, mewed.

She had noticed that her leader had seemed reluctant to acknowledge it. She hadn't the faintest idea why.

"Yes, I'm aware," Moonstar sighed. "You can choose the cats to go if you like."

Okay, this really wasn't like Moonstar. She loved choosing the cats for the Gathering.

"Is something wrong, Moonstar?" Mouseheart asked, worry lacing her voice.

"Yes, I'm fine."

Clearly, that was a lie.

But Mouseheart wasn't going to pry.

"Okay, I'll choose the cats," she said. "Tell us when you're ready to go."

Moonstar sighed deeply as her deputy left. She really didn't want to go to the Gathering. Because... Tailstar would be there.

StarClan, she loved him.

The small leader of HailClan was sweet, brave, and everything you could ever ask for in a mate.

"Tailstar, we're not supposed to be here!"

Moonstar's voice came out more like a giggle than a reprimand, which was quite unlike her.

"I know, but I had to see you again," Tailstar meowed, touching noses with Moonstar. "You know I can't go too long without you."

"Yeah, I know," Moonstar purred.

"Wanna go on a little walk?" Tailstar suggested. "It would be a nice, moonlit walk."

Moonstar looked up at the cloudless sky, the stars of Silverpelt shining.

A fleeting thought raced across her mind.

What did StarClan think about this relationship? Did they approve of an inter-clan relationship?

She shivered slightly, not from cold, but from the reality that they probably didn't.

"Are you okay?" Tailstar asked, looking at her with concern in his eyes.

"Tailstar..." Moonstar began shakily. "What if StarClan doesn't approve of our relationship?"

Tailstar looked up at the stars, letting out a deep sigh. "I don't know."

She shook her head, looking at her paws.

I can't! she thought. I can't let him go, he's mine!

But she was the clan leader. She should be setting an example, not breaking the warrior code.

"Tailstar..." she felt like she was choking. "We can't meet anymore."

"What?!" Tailstar cried out.

StarClan, that made it all the worse.

"StarClan can't approve of this!" she choked. "We're leaders of clans! I can't even imagine the example we are setting..."

Tailstar looked away, his tail drooping so low it looked like he had no control over it.

"But I love you!" he finally exclaimed.

"So do I!" Moonstar cried. "But... but we can't!"

Her heart felt like it was being torn to pieces by dogs. She couldn't bear the pain. She couldn't let him go...

Tailstar took a deep breath. "I'm upset because I know you're right."

"We can't talk anymore," Moonstar breathed. "Not even at gatherings."

Tailstar's eyes were pools of misery as he looked at her as if drinking up her image.

Without a word, he walked away.

|~|🌺End of Flashback🌺|~|

She would be there.

The love of his life, the light in a starless night, the water in a drought.

And they couldn't be together.

The agonies he was suffering were almost unbearable. The constant ripping apart of his heart.

He felt like part of him was missing. He couldn't put his paw on what, but he knew something was missing.

Her love, perhaps? Her affection? The feeling of her fur rubbing against his? The purrs that echoed in his ears whenever she saw him?

He couldn't go.

Maybe he'd pretend he was sick or something.

No, that would waste medicine herbs.

He sighed and walked out of his den. He absentmindedly chose who would go to the gathering and turned away, plunging into the forest.

His tail swishing, he made his way into the gathering area.

Moonstar reluctantly leaped off the meeting rock, her eyes longing to look at Tailstar one more time.

But as she turned, he was right there.

"What the heck, Tailstar?" she exclaimed angrily.

He turned and looked at her and the look in his eyes almost broke her heart.

"What do you want?" she asked with a cool tone.

A tone that obviously hurt him.

"I just wanted to tell you..." he choked.

"Spit it out!" she growled.

He turned away, shaking his head.

She looked away, her heart being torn to pieces. She felt like she wanted to die.

Her ears perked as she heard Tailstar's voice for the final time.

"There shall be no boundaries in StarClan, Moonstar.

I love you to Silverpelt and back."

So long a wait for so short a chapter?

That's so lame, me.

Anyway, sorry for the long wait and how short it is! But I have other requests to take care of :P
