Chapter 1 - Mist of Confusion
The sky growled as storm clouds swirled and loomed over a school building. Thunder roared, drowning the voice of a teacher and causing a commotion between the students.
Instead of talking to my partner, I fidgeted with my pen, waiting for the class to continue. The teacher silenced my class with a loud "shh" and continued rambling about balancing equations.
I zoned out, wistfully staring out of the window. In a cold day like that, I should have been lying on my bed and peacefully reading Warriors, one of my many hobbies.
At last the bell rang, signaling the end of the last period of school. Barely containing my excitement, I shoved my textbooks into my bag and left the classroom.
Back at home, I took out The Last Hope, the final book of the Omen of Stars, where good and evil would finally meet their match and fight for dominance.
I sat down and began to read.

That night, I could not fall asleep. My head was spinning with the thoughts of the wonderful book, and the confusion I had with Firestar's death. I was unable to figure out whether he died from a tree or something.
I tried to get the thoughts out of my head and shifted to the other side of my bed, hoping to sleep.
With much difficulty and frustration, I dozed off.
A harsh bright light shone on my eyes and I stired, groaning. "Who turned on the lights?" I complained, opening my eyes reluctantly.
Instead of waking up to a white wall, the first I saw was the sun. I turned away, only to realise that I was in a forest.
I gasped in shock, my heart pounding rapidly as I tried to comprehend what happened.
The surroundings looked bigger and more menacing than before. That was when I realised that I was not myself. I rushed to a puddle and yelped in surprise at the unknown creature that stared back.
My reflection was that of a small, light grey cat with patches of white and blackish stripes. It was simply unbelievable.
As it slowly sank into my brain, others stired. They were cats too, of different pelt colours and for some reason, they seem familiar.
"Oh my gosh!" one of them gasped, shocked. "What on earth happened?"
"We are cats!" a grey tom yowled.
"I demand an explanation for this!" a white she-cat growled.
The three cats turned to me. "I have no idea what's going on," I meowed quickly.
"Wait a minute..." I realised out loud. The grey tabby tom is the most hardworking student of my class, the brown she-cat with spots is the one I avoid speaking with and the white she-cat is - oh no - my worst enemy. All three of them were from my class!
Oddly, I couldn't remember their names. I tried very hard, but no names came to my mind, not even my own.
"Intruders!" a new voice burst in.
Within moments, we were surrounded by hostile, battle ready cats. I stiffened as our fear scent became stronger.
I bristled in fear as one of the cats studied us carefully. A smaller cat rushed forward, his fangs bared.
"Greypaw!" a she-cat mewed, her voice ringing with authority. "Leave them alone."
"They are intruders!" he snarled. "They should be dealt with."
"I agree," another cat spoke up. "We have too little prey to share and little time left. Let's chase them out immediately."
My eyes reflected shock and anxiety. They must be a Clan! From the look of this place, they must be ThunderClan! While it was rather cool to meet real ThunderClan warriors, we could be ripped to shreds in mere heartbeats.
"Wait," a voice commanded.
A light grey tom with amber eyes entered the clearing. He look one look at each of us. "Who might you be?" he asked.
I was at a loss for words.
"The one who will claw your face out if you don't let us go!" the white she-cat spoke aggressively.
Beside her, the grey tabby tom shot her a pleading look for her to stop talking.
Greypaw looked furious, preparing to spring onto the white she-cat. "How dare you speak to Strikestar like that?"
I gulped. The white she-cat just insulted the Clan leader. At this rate, we will end up with claw marks all over our fur by night time.
"That's enough," Strikestar commanded. "I would like to take these rogues back to camp for investigation." As he spoke, he gave me a quick glance.
The Clan cats nodded and led us through the forest. Greypaw obeyed, though he seemed rather eager to sink his claws into our fur.
They could smell our fear scent. It was overwhelming and distinctive. We were still filled with questions, but at least I know what might happen.
It seemed that we were going to join ThunderClan.
