Chap.6 A Mission and A Propechy
The patrol slowly made their way towards FlameClan's camp, the enemy's clans scent steadily growing stronger.
"Here we are." Cedarstar hissed, leaping down from a tree. "Their camp is just over there, surrounded by a wall of thorns."
The patrol crept over to the camp and found that two cat's were guarding the entrance.
One of them was a good tabby she-cat with yellow eyes, the other was a tom with long brown fur and blue eyes. "Greetings Longreed." Cedarstar said, slipping out of the undergrowth, her patrol following.
"Cedarstar, how can I help you?" The she-cat asked, her eyes narrowed. "I would like to speak with Dawnstar." She answered.
"Your patrol will have to wait here." Longreed said. "Either they come with me or I don't go at all. She replied stubbornly. "I guess you won't be going in then." The she-cat hissed.
Without warning, Cedarstar suddenly takes her claws across the she-cat's face, making her screech in pain and fall to the ground.
"Deerfeather!" Longreed cried. "LeopardClan is atta-" Longreed was cut off as Heatherfall leapt on top of him, his head slamming against the ground.
"He's unconscious." Heatherfall assured everybody. "Come, let's show FlameClan what we're made of!" Cedarstar hissed before turning and racing into FlameClan camp, the rest of the patrol screeching battle cries.
As soon as they entered the camp, Wavepaw realized they had made a mistake. Cats poured out of the den, their teeth bared furiously. "We have no time to lose, we need to get out of here!" He thought, quickly looking around the camp. Owlpaw was sitting in a car corner with three cat's guarding him.
Shouting at Barkpaw be raced towards Owlpaw, glancing back and finding that his litterbrother had heard him and was quickly running afte him.
Wavepaw leapt, sinking hid teeth into a tom with blue eyed and messy black fur. The tom have a surprised screech and going him off, blood trickling from the bite.
There was an annoyed hiss and Wavepaw turned to see a brown she-cat with long fur throwing Barkpaw to the ground. Wavepaw was about to help him when Barkpaw rolled out of the way, leaping to his paws.
The two brothers nodded at each other before Wavepaw turned back to the tom. Remembering his first training session with Acornpaw, he managed to spring over the warrior and run to Owlpaw' s side
"Are you hurt?" He asked. Owlpaw shook his head. Suddenly the tom's eyes widened wirh horror and he opened his jaws to speak, but before the words could come claws tore through Wavepaw, flinging him to the ground.
Dazed, Wavepaw found he was looking up at the apprentice he had beaten. The tom smirked at him before raking his claws across Wavepaw's throat, everything slowly fading into darkness.
"A wave will come and quench the flames that threaten the forest." A voice said.
Confused, Wavepaw tried to get to hid paws, pain shooting through his body. He managed a small groan and opened his eyes.
"Your awake." Beechfern stated, padding over to him with some herbs. "Eat this." She said, nudging it towards him. "It'll give you strength." Wavepaw nodded and quickly chewed up the herb, making a face as he swallowed it.
Seeming satisfied, the pretty medicine cat turned and padded away. Glancing around the medicine den, Wavepaw found that he was not alone. Both Rainchaser, Heatherfall, and Owlpaw were sleeping in nests across from him.
"Rainchaser attacked the warrior who took you down along with the other cat guarding Owlpaw, he couldn't take them both." Beechfern said. "And your sister fought bravely, defending other cat's, taking on three or four warriors at once....." The wise she-cat trailed off, her mind full of thoughts.
"Oh yes, and Owlpaw is fine. Just sleeping, I had to give him some herbs for the shock." She explained, noticing his worried expression.
"When can I leave?" He asked, wincing when he realized how rude he sounded. Luckily, Beechfern took no offense and answered. "For a while, but not too long." Wavepaw nodded, sinking back into his nest and thinking about the strange voice he had heard.
"Hey Beechfern?" He asked finally. "Have you ever received a prophecy before? He asked. "Why? Beechfern asked suspiciously.
"I just wanted to know what getting one was like." He admitted. "Well, usually when I go to the moonpond out ancestors tell me." She replied.
"How do you know, have you ever received a prophecy?" He asked. The she-cat hesitate. "Yes, not long after Silverfern died."
"Who's Silverfern?" Wavepaw asked curiously. For a moment Beechfern' s eyes clouded with grief before she shook the thought away. "Silverfern was the medicine cat before me, she was also one of LeopardClan's greatest." Wavepaw nodded, feeling sorry that he had asked.
"Hey Beechfern, what was the Propechy you received?" He asked, changing the subject. "None of your business." She replied. "Now, would you like some fresh-kill?"
