Chapter 10
My head dazed by the mass of his throw. I felt woozy as my head felt like my brain flew out of my head and may never come back. Why am I the only one getting hurt here? The echo returned and repeated once again as it seemed nothing was there to stop it in my head and as it rang. Troutpaw started to notice what just happened.
He gasps but it seemed he was on the edge of laughter, but he kept a decent facade "Wildpaw are you okay?" His voice had a hint of joy as maybe he did not know he threw me out of a bush and just laughed at an injured she-cat on the floor trying to get up.
"Yes completely take the blood on my paws and my woozy demeanor and just think I'm okay. Because you deal with this all the time!" My voice was filled with sarcasm as it was usually was when I was not an apprentice. I now don't have the time to be sarcastic and a reality force. As my paws are in a significant role and cats lives may depend on me and how I react.
"Alright, Wildpaw need any help getting up?" Was he seriously just rubbing it off that I'm bleeding, and I have some reopened cuts that he also caused. I stuttered trying to get up as the force of my weak muscles from the impact, but I fell back. "I'll take you failing to get up as a yes! Okay, let me find some sticks in the area we'll have you feeling better in no time." He leaves my side in an instant.
Faded yelling from the distance it sounded like Mistystar and maybe Reedwhisker " Troutpaw where are you! You are evading your punishment!" No, this tone was cold raw and maybe even. Riverclaw. Hiss echoed the Horseplace I've heard too much. He saw me first across the lake water I could feel he was just as confused as angry to the disappearance of his apprentice, and my new injury could connect in a way. "TROUTPAW COME OUT THIS INSTANT!" His yowl shocked my ears and made me shudder What is going to happen if Silvertail finds out that I'm hurt again?
"Riverclaw please help me up..." I meow for the aid of standing on my own was quiet and almost seemed nonexistent. Thankfully his hearing was probably the best in the clan from what I've seen.
"Where is Troutpaw Wildpaw? He left the camp without telling me and just when he was to check for ticks on the elders." His motives were elsewhere, but at least he was a gentle-tom for help me up without an interrogation about my whereabouts and why I chose to go here for herbs. "Silvertail said you asked to go out for herbs. I wished my apprentice was not so mouse-brained to leave without telling me." This new tone and acceptance were new yet most likely short lived as next moon or so he may treat me like fox dung again, I will try to prolong it, but my efforts may go in vain.
"He went to get me some sticks from what he said. Can you track him using his scent?" I looked at the tom with a hope of a decent answer.
"Sadly no, I lost his scent at the wading waters same for you, but it shall not be long until he comes back for you although I'm still unsure if he can smell me, so you wait here I'll wait under the thick herbs so he will be sure to come back." The silver and black tom hopped in a bush of yarrow and some Sweet-sedge. His fur almost covered by the bunch of herbs all I could see now is his mostly covered paws which were sheathed in his one paw I was sure he would kill Troutpaw for disobeying him if he could.
It felt like moons until Troutpaw came back but the little apprentice did, and I have overjoyed that well Riverclaw's plan worked he did not even notice the tom "Hey I brought rush I heard it works well for bones so just in case here." He drops the herbs to the ground. "Well, time to do your thing!" He pushes the lavender colored headed stalks towards me. I never used rush before if I do something wrong I bet Silvertail will correct it, but she is not here.
I wrap the rush around my hips and clamp my leg to my upper body. I looked around and noticed some fennel by the shore. I wobbled to it and snapped the stalk with my paws as Silvertail taught me moons ago when she was taking care of a queen that had kits the following night. I squeezed the juice into my mouth; it tasted horrid, but it should be to help the pain in my hips.
A hush in the air as the winds blew me over. "Troutpaw!" I tumble of dust and fur was all I saw from this fight that well looked like Riverclaw was winning which did make sense.
As the dust settled, on the winner of this rumble. There was not a shock of who won and sprang into the action with no fear "Riverclaw and Troutpaw are you two okay?" I mew from a fox leap or so away from the fight. Troutpaw had many scratches on his lower right flake and one longer scratch on his shoulder I began to lick his wounds and put light pressure on the wounds with my paws as although small in how wide it is, a lot of blood was spurting from the slight wounds as he maybe popped a vein.
I look around the Horseplace for anything that can suck up the blood in any way. In a frantic haste, I grab a flower pull off the petals and lay them on his wound as the morning dew would still be there.
