Phantom's Call Prolouge:

Purrwhisker stalked a mouse, he heard his sister's pained cries. His kin was about to be born. They were special, he knew, he could tell just by looking at a kit that they were special, and that hey had more goodness or badness than others.

He knew his sister Darknesscurl could sense it too. They might had have kittypet in their genes, but they had the gift.

Purrwhisker, as a medicine cat was supposed to run to her rescue, though he however withheld himself.

"Where is he?" Darknesscurl's pained meowed cut across the field. "I need him!" she gasped.

Purrwhisker recoiled from his bush, he stalked his way the his sister, his mate Echovanish besides her.

"I'm here now." he grumbled. He needed to visit the Wildstone, he could feel it.

Moonglimmer was besides him in a flash, together, they worked their way. He felt a shimmer of delight as their pelts brushed, but he ignored it, they were medicine cats, they were not allowed to mate.

Their mentor Smokepuddle had died a moons ago, leaving them, well him, in charge.

The first kit made it's way to the forest. It gave a cry and meowed for it's mother. Moonglimmer moved to lick it, he began coaxing out the second one.

When it was delivered, his sister's meows stopped, and he warmed the second on. He had this gut feeling, he needed to visit the magical stone--quickly.

The kits, as he expected, were bursting with light, a sigh of goodness in their hearts. "Are we done now?" he asked.

Echovanish didn't reply as the family brushed pelts and licked each other. He sighed.

"What's the rush? You aren't usually this short-tempered or this rushed." Moonglimmer whispered to him softly, concern in her eyes.

"I need to visit the stone!" He gasped. "Now!" the emotion tugged his pelt.

"Let's go as soon as you sister is fine." she replied.

He didn't want her to come, but a the same time he did. "Okay." he agreed softly. Once Darknesscurl was settled, he snuck away.

"Did you think you could sneak out without me?" hints of amusement and affection shone in Moonglimmer eyes.

His face burned. "Right." he muttered. "Come on, I have this itchy feeling." he said. Moonglimmer kept pace with him as they ran into the forest. Soon, the shining stone glimmered like a thousand stars, and they ran into the cave and breathed in the cold air.

"Okay, ready?" Moonglimmer asked, settling in besides him, they were so close that they're pelts touched. His pelt stung and he nodded, speechless.

They touched their noses to the stone, and he instantly fell asleep. Stars appeared in his vision and the sky turned dark purple and blue. He was on his way to Starclan.

A cat appeared, and he recognised Smokepuddle. "Helle my dear apprentice." she greeted him.

"Snokepuddle!" he cried. "I missed you!" he purred. "But why did you lead me here?" he asked, the tug in  his chest gone.

"Your sister's kits, they are special." Smokepuddle replied, dead serious. "You need to dissapear for a while, I promise that you will come out again. Soon, but for now, you need to observe from the shadows. I come with a warning,

'When the forest of no stars will rise,

the Phantoms and Ghosts of cats will soar and fly,

the wings of the Phantoms will save the forest from peril,

the Ghost's leg will protect the clans,

the shadows will reveal a secret and bring forth light. '

Understood?" Smokepuddle asked.

"Um, yes." he replied. Then, scenes of fire, death, war, battle, flashed in his mind, a grey and white cat was cackling wildly, as cats died. His fur was full of stars, but they were dim and barely shining.

"I will destroy you guys!" he snarled. "Just like you destroyed me." he sinister smirk faded, and Purrwhisker's eyes flashed with horror as he watched the cats he loved fall with each vital blow.

"Good, your 'light' will also recieve this message, when it's time, I will send a message telling you to appeared again. Oh, by the way, when I said 'light' I meant your dear little Moonglimmer." she clarified.

"I know." he rolled his eyes, and a blush spread on his face. "I understand." but did he really? Did he want to leave his famliy, his clan, or... Moonglimmer?

But it had to be done. "Okay." he said determindly. "I understand." he repeated.

"Good." Smokepuddle said. "I bid you farewell, good luck. Remember, observe from the shadows only."

The scene disapeared, and he found himself on the Wildstone again. He was on the floor, Moonglimmer's nose in his flank, her eyes closed.

She must still be dreaming. He thought, his mind moved to the strange riddle or warning his mentor had gave him. A prophecy. He realised.

Moonglimmer suddenly stirred. "did you receive that prophecy too?" she breathed.

He nodded, a grim look on his face. He had received mush more than just that.

"Did you find out why you were so drawn to the stone tonight?" She asked.

"I did." he whispered. he closed his eyes. "I need to go." he said.

"Purrwhisker?" Moonglimmer asked, a trace of alarm in her voice. "You're scaring me, are you okay?" she asked.

"Yes, I just, need to go." he stammered. "I'm sorry, but I can't stay." he rambled. He dashed away, but Moonglimmer's tail tripped him.

"Are you okay?" she repeated. "Please, what happened in your dream?" she asked. He drew his breath. This was way harder than he thought, but his kin couldn't die. He had to go. To protect Moonglimmer, and his future kin. "Please, tell me what happened." Moonglimmer's voice was panicked. "This isn't you." she looked him in the eyes.

"I can't, I'm sorry, I really am, but this is go-" he started.

Moonglimmer faced him., her eyes shining. " You're scaring me, no one has to leave." she said, her voice trying to stay calm. "Whatever happened in there can be fixed."

"No it can't!" he cried. "No one has to die! Not you!"

"Are you crazy?" Moonglimmer stopped him. "Sto-" Purrwhisker shoved her on the ground, his heart breaking when Moonglimmer slammed on the ground.

She lifted her head. "Purrwhisker." she tried weakly. "This isn't you, please, just talk to me."

"I can't. I-I love you." he touched his nose to hers. "Remember that." He ran away.

"NO!" Moonglimmer yelled, he turned around a saw her chasing him. "You've gone insane!" she shouted. "Come back!"

Suddenly, he knew his kin's names. Phantomkit and Ghostkit. He knew it, they were part of the prophecy.

Then, a landslide came, They were separated as the rock blocked Moonglimmer's way.

"Purrwhisker!" Moonglimmer shouted. "Please, we can fix this."

"No you can't, but I can." he said. "the cats  from the prophecy are- Phantom- and - Ghost- them!" he raised his voice as the rocks dropped from the sky.

"Where are you? Wait!" Moonglimmer yelled, and the landslide fully consumed them.

Silence.

Purrwhisker didn't know how many hours or minutes it had been, but the landslide finally stopped. Dust was in the air as he crawled into a bush, resting his leg that had gotten bruised, it would be sore tomorrow.

He searched for Moonglimmer, and saw her under a piece of rock, unmoving. At first, panic flared, and he thought she was severly injured, or even worse, dead, but she stirred after a moment and gave a rasping cough.

"Purrwhisker?" she whispered. "No, you can't be dead!" she sobbed, and he felt his heart break, he felt his eyes water watching her.

"Moonglimmer!" It was his brother and sister Alderstrike and Willowbramble, along with his own mother Mothshimmer and Clawtuft. "Are you okay? When we saw the landslide, we were worried you got caught in it!" Clawtuft meowed to he frantically.

"Where's Purrwhisker?" Mothshimmer demanded. "Where's my kit?"

"I'm sorry." Moonglimmer choked out. "He's... dead." she finally whispered.

"No way." Mothshimmer growled. "Liar, where is my kit?" she raised her voice. Clawtuft put his tail on her shoulder.

"I'm really sorry Mothshimmer, but he's gone, if he was on the other side, he would had have it way worse, he either way buried, or had fallen into the river." he stated calmly, though his eyes were sad.

Or he could have taken shelter underneath this ledge. He thought.

"We just lost Smokepuddle." Willowbramble sighed. "Another valueble cat gone." Alderstrike nodded in agreement.

Moonglimmer sobbed.

"I know how close you guys were, when Smokepuddle died, you guys clung onto each other for reassurance." Alderstrike said sympatically, his grey and white pelt brushing Moonglimmer's.

Oh it was much more than that. He said sadly. Goodbye Moonglimmer, Goodbye Mountainclan, until we meet again. He whispered in his mind and backed away slowly, leaving his old home behind.

...

He needed to check on them, just a peek. He pushed past the ferns and brambles blocking the camp entrance.

It had been three sunrises since his "death". And he felt a need to check on his clan, and the kits, and Moonglimmer.

There she was, pretty as dandelions and sunshine, Moonglimmer sat in a small crowd of cats, it took him a moment to realised that it was his vigil.

That was weird, attending his own vigil. He headed to the nursery, just keeping low and slow, his pelt was rolled in mud, and his pelt still smelled of Mountainclan anyway.

Phantomkit, the kit in his dreams, the kit destined for greatness, was there with Ghostkit, they were playing with an exhausted Darknesscurl.

"I'm going to sit vigil, why not you guys play with your father first." She said. Her mate took over as she sat for his vigil.

He watched the kit, unaware of all the things they would do.

Finally, he went away, he gave a last look to Moonglimmer, they headed away, he couldn't keep coming, someone was bound to notice at some point.

Once every two moons. He promised. He cast a look at the kits. See you soon Moonglimmer, kits, I will guide you, even though you won't know.
