Mistykit's POV

I looked up with blurry eyes as my mother nudged me awake and motioned for me to be quiet. I watched as she woke my littermates, Stormkit and Mosskit. My mother motioned for us to follow her and I stumbled out of the nest and into the frosty night air.

The snow crunched softly under my paws as I followed my mother, curious as to what was going on. This is exciting!

"Bluefur, where are we going? Its cold out and I was having the best dream." Stormkit complained loudly as he pushed through the snow at the entrance to camp.

"Shh, my dear kit," Mother whispered to him,"We're going on an adventure." Stormkit immediately perked up and started to push through the snow with more excitement. I heard Mosskit whimper as we climbed up the steep boulders of the ravine.

"Its so cold. Can't we go back to camp?" Mosskit cried. I was starting to feel the chill as my excitement faded away. I shivered with cold as we finally reached the top of the ravine. The cold was forgotten momentarily as I stared up at the huge trees and the twinkling stars up above.

Suddenly my scruff was gripped by my mother and I was shaken out of my trance. "Come now, its not too far now." Bluefur murmured and set me down in front of her.

We trekked through the barren forest, with the moon's light shining down on us. The chill got colder until I was shaking to my bones. My paws were numb and I kept slipping on hidden pieces of ice. Mosskit was trailing behind as we reached a huge drift of snow.

My mother ran forward and dug her paws into the cold white snow,I could tell she was shaking too. She scrabbled at the snow until a hollow large enough to fit all of us was created and she shoved us inside. Bluefur darted away and grabbed Mosskit, who had collapsed in the snow. Mother started vigorously rubbing her fur and licking her,but I knew Mosskit was just sleeping. Bluefur let out a cry and curled around Mosskit. She covered Mosskit with snow and then Mother brought us to a tom,then,she just left....
