Power of Three Arc (ESPECIALLY LONG SHADOWS)

Oh, Ashfur. Ashfur, Ashfur, Ashfur. Your name might as well be ASSFUR.

So this little angry bean was originally in love with Squirrelflight during the time period when she was still mad at Brambleclaw, even though he is like a gagillion years older than her. So then when Squirrelflight made up with Brambleclaw and they became mates, he was furious. Eventually he got over it. But of course, BOOM, turns out he never actually did, so then that leads into the forest fire and him trying to murder Hollyleaf, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather by letting them burn. Yeah. Pretty harsh, man.
So then he learns that they're not really Squirrelflight's kits, causing Hollyleaf to murder him after he threatens to reveal the secret at the gathering(which she literally did only a few moons after he died).

So. Ashfur as a character.
You'd think that he would have gotten over that Squirrelflight didn't want to be mates after, what, a couple seasons?! I mean, dude! She was way out of your league anyway.
I honestly did NOT see Ashfur's betrayal coming, even after all of the hints that were being thrown at us. Ashfur was one of my favorite characters, and I loved him so much BECAUSE of the fact that he had supposedly "accepted" that he could never be with Squirrelflight. When I came face to face with clues to a possible betrayal, I just ignored them, like, "Oh, he probably just... ate a bad mouse beforehand or something." It was a great plot twist, but I actually wondered how he was able to hide it so well. And I also wonder, had he planned to murder Squirrelflight's so called kits from the beginning? Did he actually get over it at once point, until he somehow influenced by something to take his revenge(*ahem* Mapleshade *ahem*)? Because I honestly thought that he had gotten over it. Maybe the "training" with Lionblaze triggered his anger again. I don't know exactly what it was, but it had to be major.

Overall, I'd give Ashfur a 9.5/10. The only thing amiss is how old Ashfur was compared to Squirrelflight. Him wanting to be mates with her was like a 50 year old wanting to marry a 25 year old. It's just messed up.
