Chapter One

Falconblaze

Wails of pain and exhaustion echoed from the nursery, sending chills down every cat's spine. The wails grew louder when Falconblaze, the golden-pawed warrior, came rushing out. His amber eyes searching wildly for the brown she-cat.

His eyes locked onto her as she rushed from the medicine den, she carried in her mouth a large leaf, which Falconblaze knew held poppy seeds. The she-cat hurried to him, she gave him a respectful nod before she entered the nursery.

Falconblaze followed her, he fretted that the apprentice may be too late but was relieved when Amberdawn, the medicine cat, calmed down. Her tail twitched in pride and approval, turning, she gave the brown she-cat a lick between her ears.

"You've done well, Doepaw." Amberdawn turned to leave but froze, calling over her shoulder, she mewed. "Oh, and Stonepelt? I'll being you some borage leaves tomorrow."

Stonepelt nodded as she watched Doepaw and her mentor leave the two mates alone with their newly born kit.

"What should we name... Him? Her?" Falconblaze froze as he realized he didn't know his own kit's gender.

"Her," Stonepelt purred in amusement at her mate, her yellow eyes shining. "And... I don't know."

Falconblaze stared down at the frightfully small kit that was snuggled up to Stonepelt's belly. The kit was white with big splotches of a silvery gray with darker stripes hidden within and she also had patches of dark gold. On her flanks were dark brown dapples that resembled Falconblaze's pelt. He didn't yet know her eye colour, seeing how it will be awhile before she is able to open them.

"Hmm..."

"What are you thinking?" Stonepelt questioned in curiosity, twining her tail with his. Falconblaze blinked.

"Well, her pelt has so many colors I was thinking maybe..." He shook his head, his ears pinned to his skull. "Nevermind. It wasn't a very good name."

"Please, Falconblaze, I want to hear it." Stonepelt meowed, her voice tinged in exhaustion as she laid her head down to rest.

"Well.... What about.... Brokenkit?" Falconblaze asked quietly, watching his kit suckle.

"That seems fitting for her looks... I love it..." And before Falconblaze could utter another sound Stonepelt was sound asleep, her sides heaving silently.

Falconblaze's eyes glowed in pride and joy as he looked down at Brokenkit and watched her curl up under Stonepelt's tail. "May StarClan bring you sweet dreams." And he left the nursery, nodding to Ivyheart and her kits, telling them they could go in.

Ivyheart smiled at him and murmured a "Congratulations" as she passed him and herded her three kits back inside.

Falconblaze kept his pace even after he encountered the deputy, Darktail, on his way to the warrior's den.

"How did it go?" Darktail asked as they padded side-by-side while on their way to the den. "Is Stonepelt alright? She was awfully loud..." Falconblaze nodded.

"She's fine, we have a she-kit we just named Brokenkit. But they're sleeping now."

"I can imagine it," Darktail purred as they entered the warrior's den and went to their seperate nests.

Falconblaze closed his eyes, heaving a silent sigh as he drifted off into darkness...

Runningleap

Runningleap found herself in an open meadow, bright flowers glowed all around her while the moon shined down.

"How did I get here?" She wondered aloud but, to her surprise, she was answered.

"I brought you here. There is a prophecy in which you need to know," a thunderous voice meowed from behind the tortoiseshell.

Runningleap leapt over a fox-tail into the air and spun around, her amber eyes searching wildly. Her gaze calmed when she found a slim brown tom with green eyes.

"Who are you? Where am I?"

"I am Bearflight and I am here to show you what you need to be shown." The tom turned and began to pad away, his thick, bushy tail raised high.

Runningleap followed in quick, graceful steps that almost made her look to be hopping. Well, my name is Runningleap! She thought for a moment before her mind came back to the tom. She knew she had heard his name before but she couldn't remember why.

"Stop. Look." Bearflight stopped suddenly, sending Runningleap barreling into - or through him? Yeah, the medicine cat landed on her belly in front of Bearflight, her ears pinned to her head.

Then Runningleap looked up, remembering what he had said. What she saw blinded her greatly; a glowing cat stood before her. The cat glowed brighter than all the stars Runningleap had ever seen.

The cat's details and gender was obscured by the golden light but it was certainly small and slim. It's slick tail waved from side to side rhythmically.

"Who...?" Runningleap was at a lost for words but, as she watched, another cat appeared. The cat was glowing just as brightly as the first, it was taller and had more muscle than the other, though.

"Only StarClan knows," Bearflight murmured.

Runningleap blinked, "Aren't you part of StarClan?"

"Yes but few get to know prophecies," he sighed, "Expecially ones like this."

Runningleap went silent as the two glowing cats walked passed them and disappeared into the sky.

Runningleap was about to mew an extra thought to Bearflight when she was suddenly back in her den, lying in her nest. She looked up, it was almost sunup and the birds were just starting to chirp.

Hmm....
