Chapter 10

Chapter 10- Explaining

( Brambleclaw's p.o.v. )

"Brambleclaw...." Meowed Firestar hesitantly. His emerald green gaze burned into Brambleclaws's pelt with dissapointment. "I... I think you have some explaining to do." he meowed finally.

Brambleclaw gulped for three reasons- he felt satisfied when he killed Mistyfoot, but also guilty whenever someone glared at him for it, especially Squirrelflight. She seemed to totally have lost trust in him. Lastly, he can feel in his fur that Firestar didn't trust him anymore. Firestar could seduce his almost- deputy rank because of this. Well, at least he hoped Firestar would ever trust his with deputyship.

After a moments' hesitation, I spoke grudgingly with my words.

"I'm sorry, Firestar. I don't know what I was doing, I... I was just defending Thunderclan territory from the mangy fush pelts..."I had nothing else to say. A low growl arose from Firestar's throat.

" 'Sorry' does NOT fix the fact that you broke the warrior code. Cats who break the warrior code get punished, Brambleclaw." he hissed, but I could tell he was trying to stay calm despite his bristling fur. Firestar seemed swallowed a pound of anger. "KILLING a leader's life?!" he hissed.

There was dead silence in the air; it was as thick as a rabbit's fur. My eyes pleaded for him not to exile me. He seemed to understand, his face was thoughtful.

I sighed.

Firestar opened his jaws, like he was going to talk, then he closed his eyes, then fluttered them back open in distress like a leader's job was a lot on his paws. "Brambleclaw, I always thought of you as a honorable cat but.... I might have to exile you. His voice held regret, making my stomach twist guiltily.

"No." I growled threateningly. "You wouldn't dare discard the most strong member of Thunderclan."

He blinked in surprise. "Are you questioning my orders, Brambleclaw? What kind of cat have you become?"

I wish I had Squirrelflight beside me. Hrrrgggh, no I don't. I don't.

"Sorry Firestar." I bowed my head in mock respect that Firestar wasn't aware of. "I'm not sure what's gotten into me all of this time."

Firestar narrowed his eyes. "I will decide soon. Let me be in peace for this moment."

I couldn't do much more but sulk around and wait for an answer.

He trusted me, and I failed him. He maybe even wanted me to possibly become Thunderclan's leader one day, but he won't now, I failed him, I failed him.
