Whitepaw blinked and looked up at the sound of her mentor.

"Whitepaw, you up?" Auracall asked as her head poked into the den. Whitepaw sat up and quickly licked herself, remembering her dream vividly and nodded now filled with a new feeling of self confidence toward controlling her powers.

"Ya, I'm coming." She meowed seeing her mentors head bop out of the den entrance so the white she-cat could leave the den.

Whitepaw blinked her eyes open so they could adjust to the sunlight realizing the sun wasn't just rising like at dawn. She turned to her mentor curiously and the mentor replied,

"With what happened yesterday I thought you could use a bit of extra sleep." Auracall elaborated before pointing to the fresh kill pile next to the meeting log. "Have something to eat then meet me at the camp entrance," before padding to the entrance. Whitepaw blinked as she noticed her mentor waiting next to Flamepaw's mentor, Scorchtrail.

She trotted off to the fresh-kill pile picking up a small mouse for a quick meal and sitting down to eat.

She finished after not to long and licked her teeth and muzzle swiftly in contempt before padding over to her mentor and Scorchtrail.

"I'm ready," She meowed smiling prepared to train with determination gleaming in her eyes. Auracall nodded to both cats before leading them on once more to the training hollow.

Their paws soon wandered onto stone and they came to the stone plains.

"Now, Whitepaw. Just start by trying to summon a fire on those piles of dead sticks." The white mentor instructed pointing to a pile of sticks in question. Whitepaw nodded stepping a little closer and plopped down starting to so what she did for wind. She let go and let her fur and body move naturally. She opened her her eyes when nothing happened and glanced at the mentors. Auracall was calm and curious as usual but Scorchtrail had a look of skepticism. She frowned to herself and turned back to the sticks wondering if controlling fire different, differently triggered powers was even possible.

It'd make sense, she mused to herself. Why else would there be different element mentors?

She took a breath ready to try again but blinked as she felt a touch on her shoulder. She turned to see Scorchtrail his eyes now unreadable but his face set grim.

"I knew she'd need my help. Over there doing nothing." He took a moment to scuff before focusing on the apprentice. "When controlling fire it takes another type of control. As does every other power." He explained to the 6 moon old as if she was 2. "First you have to take hold of your emotions and power. When in a fight you don't have time to relax or let go you need to take in the moment and use your adrenaline!" He stated firmly. With that he meowed for her to try again this time instead of relaxing, creating.

Whitepaw hesitated a little unsure what to do or how. Why can't he give me normal instructions... With a upset but determined huff she took a breath now ready to try again. She focused on the sticks before pouncing forward trying to mentally shoot a fire at the dried old sticks but nothing happened.

"Again!" Snapped the senior warrior practically in her ear causing her to flinch but nod. "Focus like your striking an enemy!" He meowed fiercely staring at the she-cat with a stern, unforgiving gaze.

"O-ok." She replied starting to get shaken by the tom. She took a breath trying to calm herself before biting her lip and forcing herself to focus on the sticks and only the sticks. She tried glaring at them, imagining them burnt and charred even leaping at it like an opponent and hoping it would light on fire under her paws. Nothing. Not even a spark or bit of smoke. She hissed with frustration as she slunk back to her starting point after leaping on the sticks.

Useless! that's what this is... I don't see why he can't just tell me-

"Try again!" The tom hissed with the remorse completely cuttng off and startling her out of her thoughts. His deep almost brown scarlet fur  seethed and he only made the apprentice feel worse. "We aren't leaving until you light those sticks on fire!" He growled at the apprentice who now had enough. She turned on the senior cat no longer holding onto the thread of patience to respect those cats above and older then yourself.

"I can't! Cant you see that?!" She spat her ears flat in pure frustration and dissapointment. Can't he see shes struggling, and all he can say is try again? "Try what?! I've done what I can now help me! Mentor me!" She screeched her fur fluffed as she felt helpless and upset. The mentor just seemed to fan the flames. She flug her head to her mentor seeing pure wonder and no source of escape from the older she-cat.

"Good, use that fury and helplessness. Channel it inside your heart then let it turn into a burning sensation." The tom said his voice no longer forcefull and instead more instructing and direct. Whitepaw blinked taken aback by the change of personality but seized her emotions and tried to do as he said. At first she wasn't sure if she did it right mentally pulling her emotions to one spot and just focusing on it. Suddenly she flung her eyes to the sticks and with a mini pounce forward fire suddenly kindled the sticks and they burned.

Whitepaw's eyes widened as she watched the fire, knowing she cast that fire and she had done it with her emotions. Emotions that once seemed useless and blinding but now used to channel herself into a fire that now licked at the dried and perfect-for-burning sticks. Of course the flames couldn't go anywhere since they were surrounded by stone and soon died out as the sticks charred but the white she-cat didn't mind. She made a fire and she couldn't be happier.

"See, now you know you can. You just needed the right motivation." The tom meowed no longer  just yowling to get under her skin. She nodded turning to her mentor and saw a smile on the mentor's face.

"Good job, Whitepaw. Keep this up and you should have used your powers before a moon is up." She encouraged walking up to the apprentice and nudging her proudly. The two mentors spent the rest of the day working on Whitepws basic knowlege of the element and making her light multiple sticks in a row or at a time but soon she started to get the basics down and the mentors decided this was enough for today.

"Now which way from here would we need to go to get to camp?" Auracall quizedd twitching an ear toward the apprentice curiously. She didn't need to wait long as the she-cat mapped the territory out and pointed with her muzzle to camp with a determined, unfading smile. "I remember because there are two jutting rocks, one that's toward Crystal Caverns so the other is toward camp." She meowed with confidence and only grew prouder as Auracall nodded.

As they walked back Auracall gave Whitepaw a few tips on how to sneak up on birds and small creatures, how to stay on the right angle of the prey, and demonstrating hunting forms as the two mentors hunted to fill the clan's stomach.

"When you're more prepared we will go into depth about each prey." The mentor added as they walked on back to camp.

Whitepaw stepped into camp, now watching two mentors walk back to the warrior den speaking once more to the warriors there like the day before. She turned away from them, proud of how she did once she had the right encouragement. To her surprise she saw Sparkpaw resting in the shade seemingly waiting for her.

"Hey, Sparkpaw!" The she-cat greeted as she padded over to the tom. "Where are the others?" She asked curiously glancing around to no avail of seeing Bluepaw's russian blue fur nor Tigerpaw's striped pelt.

"Tigerpaw and Flowerpaw were invited for a patrol, and Bluepaw and I had a dueling training session so Bluepaw headed in to rest. I wanted to stay up since I wanted to know how training went." Sparkpaw explained curling his tail over his paws before finishing and turning to her with interested eyes.

Whitepaw didn't understand at first but blinked in understanding, of course he knew about Scorchtrail's 'training technique'.

"It was surely difficult at first." She admitted frowning at the thoughts of her endless efforts followed by him agitating her. "But I suppose he had good motives in the end." The she-cat conceded thinking back to the training session.

"Ya, the first time he took me training he swore I would of burnt the whole forest down if I was any more riled."

With a muffled chortle from Whitepaw Sparkpaw smiled softly.

"Guess I'm just that good!" He stated with a cocky smirk before chuckling at himself as his statement amused Whitepaw more.

Once they both calmed down a bit they agreed to head in for the night gladly gossiping about Scorchtail as they went.

(Sorry ending seems rushed I'm out of practice)
