Chapter 19

Mousepelt woke up to the smell of smoke not far from ShadowClan. She quickly jumped to her paws, waking Ravenclaw up. She bounded out the warrior's den to see the newly appointed warriors, Vinetail, Silversun, Midnightmoon, and Beetlechaser, were standing up and their backs were bristling, teeth bared, and claws unsheathed. Amberheart's scent hit Mousepelt's nose along with the rest of ThunderClan.

Vinetail let out a yowl as Whisperstar stalked in to the camp, her pelt covered in soot. Flowerstem appeared as the Clan came out their dens, Coldeyes froze as he looked around at the newcomers. Amberheart was helping Foxtail in to the camp. He was coughing badly along with Cherrypaw. Badgergrowl dragged the limp body of Snaggletooth and all of ShadowClan let out a gasp.

"What happened to you?" Jumbledstar asked, coming out his den with Yellowstone.

"The storm set ThunderClan on fire with lighting," Whisperstar answered with a growl in her tone, "it has been made clear SkyClan will not help us and there's no way for us to get to WindClan, or just dodging them to get to RiverClan. We ask that ShadowClan take us in until our warriors are fit enough to fix our Clan. The rain should also rid our camp of smoke."

Jumbledstar shared a look with Yellowstone and Stoneheart. "Come to my den and we'll discuss this there." Jumbledstar spoke. He went into his den, followed by only Whisperstar. Yellowstone stopped Stoneheart from going after them. Blackclaw retrieved the deputy to go on dawn patrol with her, Ashface, and Moonglow.

Amberheart helped Foxtail to Coldeyes, who moved away for the two to walk in. Cinderpaw and Flowerstem helped Cherrypaw in to the medicine den. Docilekit had slowly made her way out the nursery and bolted over to the medicine den. Sirenkit and Spotkit poked their heads out after their sister and quickly made their way to the apprentice's den.

Mousepelt let out a long sigh. Viperfang was unfit to be a mother. The brown speckled warrior began making her way to retrieve the kits until Amberheart came out and ran to Mousepelt.

"What do you think Jumbledstar will say?" the golden she-cat asked.

"I'm not sure," Mousepelt admitted. "Is Cherrypaw okay?" she was more concerned with the apprentice than the ThunderClan camp.

"It's Cherrynose now," Amberheart meowed, "her and her littermates received their warrior names yesterday. Cinderfoot, Breezepelt, and Thistleclaw."

"Mousepelt!" Docilekit called from the medicine cat den. "Coldeyes says he needs more chamomile!"

"I'll get it!" Badgergrowl announced.

"Absolutely not!" Ravenclaw hissed. "We're not letting you look for anything in our territory!"

"they're my Clanmates!" Badgergrowl retorted. "I should be the one to help!"

"I don't care who gets, we need it need it now if we want Cherrynose and Foxtail to recover soon!" Docilekit yowled like a medicine cat.

"Amberheart, you come with me!" Mousepelt hissed. "Does that please you Badgergrowl?" She shot before bolting out the camp with Amberheart close by.

When they were far enough, Mousepelt turned on her friend. "You should take this as a sign from StarClan!" she spat. Amberheart stopped and looked at her friend through narrowed eyes and lowered her head. "If we want to stop Silversol, we're going to have to save SkyClan and WindClan first, before we think of ourselves!"

"The warrior code says we have to think of our own Clan before anything else!" Amberheart snapped. "Besides, you don't have to worry, because I stopped Badgergrowl from killing Foxtail and Cherrynose."

"He was the heart broken warrior I take it." Mousepelt sighed. Amberheart just nodded. "Good that means we only have WindClan and SkyClan to take care of, then I need to make sure that the kits don't get lead by Silversol."

"How are you supposed to get to WindClan or SkyClan?" Amberheart asked as Mousepelt began scraping up the camomile from its roots.

"The fixing of your Clan will provide an excellent cover for us to go toward there and see what information we can get from them." Mousepelt explained. She picked the white flower up and began heading to camp.

"When would we go?" Amberheart asked.

"After I check to see if Coldeyes needs warrior help, you go tell Whisperstar that we're going to see if any of the fresh-kill made it and if not, then we'll hunt for some." they came in to the camp to see ShadowClan were hudled on one side and ThunderClan on the other. Spotkit tried escaping Ravenclaw's tail to get at the ThunderClan cats.

"They shouldn't be here!" the tiny kit snapped at the black warrior.

"They need help," Ravenclaw explained calmly, "this is the only place they can get to. The warrior code says we must help any Clan if it could harm the code."

"That's stupid!" Spotkit growled. "For StarClan's sake, can I at least go sit next to Sirenkit? Her and Docilekit are the only quiet ones in the nursery!" Ravenclaw let the kit go and run to his sister, who was playing with Crazyfeather. Stripekit was bragging to Silversun about how he would be appreciated soon and how he was going to be the toughest warrior in the Clan. Vinetail shook her stubby tail, while rolling her eyes.

Whisperstar came out Jumbledstar's den and looked down at Snaggletooth's body. "Jumbledstar has allowed us to stay until our camp is rebuilt and Foxtail and Cherrynose are healed." ThunderClan shared anxious looks with one another and ShadowClan let out low growls. Spotkit hissed as he stormed to the elder's den with Sirenkit. "I will choose a new deputy before moon high, in the mean time we need to respect ShadowClan for letting us stay, no hunting unless ShadowClan allow you to hunt with them."

"Whisperstar," Amberheart stepped up, "may I bring Mousepelt to ThunderClan to see if any of the fresh-kill survived the fire and if not, we'll hunt there in our territory."

Whisperstar took a moment to think, then nodded. "Very well, but if you return with no food then I will ask Jumbledstar if he'd be willing to share his fresh-kill or territory."

Amberheart nodded as Mousepelt made her way to the medicine den. Coldeyes was showing Docilekit what was wrong with Cherrynose, while Flowerstem worked on Foxtail with Cinderfoot. Mousepelt set the camomile down, allowing Docilekit to retrieve it and hand it to Coldeyes. The ShadowClan medicine cat nodded his thanks as he took the white flower.

Mousepelt then pelted to Amberheart and the two made their way to ThunderClan territory. It was black with ash and the area smelled like smoke. Amberheart nodded her head toward where WindClan's border sat.

"We'll check WindClan first," Amberheart explained, "if we see everything is fine, then we'll head off to SkyClan." Mousepelt nodded.

The two made their way to the stream that marked the border between WindClan and ThunderClan. They jumped from the stepping stones and quietly made their way through WindClan territory. The wind on the moor was making it hard for Mousepelt to make her way through the bushes to stay hidden.

When they finally made it to WindClan camp, they hid behind a couple of bushes that smelled sweet with catmint. They looked around to see Bunnyfoot speaking to Tallstar as he shared a rabbit with Appleseed. Mousepelt and Amberheart tried to hear what they were speaking about, but they heard the cracking of a twig and the familiar smell of Larkfeather.

"What do you think you two are doing here?"
