Chapter 19
Mousepelt paced around the camp, her heart beat fast, her eyes wide with worry. It couldn't be true, she couldn't be part of Silversol. The Clan tried to look calm, but Mousepelt could see the worry and fear in their wide eyes.
"Mousepelt," Jumbledstar finally spoke up, "relax, you're alright."
"So what if you were born part of Silversol?" Limptail meowed. "We know you're not cold hearted like her!"
"How can you be sure?" Mousepelt cried. "I could do something awful and I wouldn't even know, she could talk me in to hurting you guys and I wouldn't be able to control myself!"
"Mousepelt, we know you would never do that to-" Ravenclaw began as he neared to put his tail on her back, but she quickly moved away her ears back and body lowered.
"Don't touch me!" She yowled. "Please... I don't want to hurt you." Ravenclaw looked hurt and Mousepelt felt terrible, but she couldn't hurt anyone, especially him.
"Look," Mousepelt jumped to look behind her and see Coldeyes near her, "how about I take you to the Moonpool tomorrow night, I'll speak with StarClan, and you'll see nothing about you is evil."
Mousepelt had been to the Moonpool only once for Jumbledstar to see if she was a good choice to be a warrior. Nothing happened there. All she saw were paw prints from past cats that had walked there before any of the cats before her. The pool was made from a waterfall and it was peaceful, making Mousepelt fall asleep while Jumbledstar drank from the water and fell asleep.
"I will come with you," Jumbledstar stepped up, "I need to share dreams with StarClan anyway."
"If you're still not sure about being near everyone, you may sleep in my den for the night." Coldeyes assured.
"I'd rather sleep outside," Mousepelt looked down her legs shaking. She didn't want to be forced to hurt anyone while she slept. She laid down on the ground and wrapped herself up with her tail.
As everyone headed to the dens, Mousepelt noticed Turtlefur watch Snaketooth limp in to the warrior's den. The old ginger tabby was stubborn and refused to go to the elder's den. Brokenjaw and Limptail followed after. Then Ravenclaw headed in. He looked over to Mousepelt, before lowering his head, walking in to the den.
At the crack of dawn, Coldeyes woke Mousepelt and went to retrieve Jumbledstar. Mousepelt went and grabbed a frog to eat. She then thought about Frogstump. Would Coldeyes share tongues with him as well?
Jumbledstar and Coldeyes didn't eat. They weren't supposed to on their way to the Moonpool. Mousepelt wanted to see Ravenclaw, but remembered how she pushed him away last night. She didn't do it to hurt him though. She did it to protect him.
The three trekked through ThunderClan territory, but they seemed to be fast asleep. They came to the river that separated ThunderClan from WindClan and headed up the stream. The sun was coming over the trees as the padded through bushes and down a small hill. Mousepelt then froze when she saw Amberheart and Silvertail.
"Good morning, Silvertail," Coldeyes bowed his head and blinked at Amberheart. Then Flowerstem appeared from the bushes, wet with dew. She looked over and saw Coldeyes and quickly shook herself dry.
"Oh... Good morning, Coldeyes," Flowerstem bowed her head.
"Good morning, Flowerstem," Coldeyes nodded, his eyes with unreadable expressions. Mousepelt looked at Flowerstem then to Coldeyes. The medicine cats would meet during a Half Moon and Coldeyes had been an apprentice along with Flowerstem.
"Mousepelt, Amberheart," Jumbledstar looked at the young warriors, "lie down over there and we'll wake you when it's time to go."
"But I thought I was going to speak to StarClan?" Amberheart tilted her head.
"Warriors are not allowed to drink from the pool unless they are receiving their nine lives as a leader," Silvertail explained to the ThunderClan she-cat, "I meant me and Flowerstem would speak to StarClan and then we'd tell you if there's something you need to know."
"Fine," Amberheart sat down.
"Now rest," Coldeyes spoke, "we will wake you when it's time to leave."
Mousepelt lied down as the medicine cats and leader lied down at the edge of the Moonpool and drank from the water, falling asleep to speak to StarClan.
After a while Mousepelt woke with a jolt. She found herself alone in a dark Moonpool. The clouds covered the moon and Mousepelt realized how creepy it looked without light. Her fur prickled as she tried looking for her companions.
"Amberheart! Coldeyes!" Mousepelt cried out running around the Moonpool. She looked for a way out, but the entrance to the forest was gone, covered in vines, bushes, and trees. "Jumbledstar! Silvertail! Flowerstem! Help!"
"They're not here," Mousepelt shivered at the sadistic voice of Silversol, "it's just you and me now," Mousepelt turned and realized the voice was coming from the Moonpool. "Foolish she-cat, you think no matter where you go, you're safe from me?" Mousepelt stepped over and looked in to the water, "you'll never get away from me or the truth!" Mousepelt was too terrified to move. Instead if seeing herself, Silversol looked back her through the water.
"No!" Mousepelt stepped back. "I won't accept it! I'm not you!"
"You can't run away from what you are!" Silversol purred. "Don't you see you are me!"
"No!" Mousepelt wailed.
"If you die, you'll die in me, I'll be you!" Silversol laughed.
"No!" Mousepelt fell to the ground and covered her head with her paws.
"Kill Amberheart and I'll make your wildest dreams come true!"
"Shut up!"
"Mousepelt!" the brown speckled she-cat jumped awake to see Amberheart and the others looking worryingly down at her. She got to her paws and noticed Amberheart was bleeding from her sides.
"Wha-What happened?" Mousepelt shook.
"You were clawing at me in your sleep!" Amberheart cried. "You almost killed me and you were shouting 'die, die' over and over again!"
"I... I didn't mean-" Mousepelt began.
"Mousepelt, what were you dreaming about?" Coldeyes asked.
"S-Silversol, sh-she... I... She..." Mousepelt panted when she saw the blood on her claws. She looked up and saw the fear in Amberheart's eyes. "Y-You... Do fear me..."
"No, Mousepelt I-" Amberheart began.
"Leave me alone!" Mousepelt wailed bounded off to ShadowClan camp.
