Chapter 1: (Softblue pov)
My paws struggled to get grip as I woke up and got off of my nest. Plumetail was still sleeping peacefully, with his tail over his nose, his white fur gleaming in the sun that was coming through the reeds.
Plumetail had lost a leg, due to an injury, but he was still sweet and kind as ever. He was my mate, we had 3 kits together, Slipstrong, Violetkit and Soakkit. Slipstrong was the only one who had made it to a warrior. Or even to an apprentice. The past still haunted me.
My beloved mate deserved this calmer life. We both did.
I padded outside. Leafnose and Bowstrike were arguing, it was all they seemed to do. But they were littermates so I guess it made sense.
The early morning sun was perfect against these old bones, I felt immediately warmed up.
I sat down next to Leafnose, listening in on their argument. It was the most interesting thing I would probably see the whole day. I knew something was wrong with our border with Windclan, but nobody ever informed the elders. I had even asked Slipstrong several times, but he passed it off as nothing happened. Maybe he thought that I would get worried for no reason.
"You scared away that mouse Bowstrike, I'm not even sure why they made you a warrior." Leafnose remarked. "You were and still are way too clumsy."
"For Starclan's sake that was moons ago. Back when I was a new apprentice. And let's not forget you let a Thunderclan warrior cause pray onto our land." Bowstrike snapped back.
They started bickering and I sighed, same old, same old.
Chapter 2: (Still Softblue's pov)
Something tapped me on the shoulder, I murdered something and relaxed in the sun again. When it happened again, I raised my mouth slightly to say something. "Violetkit, please let mother sleep."
"Who's Violetkit." Meowed a kit.
I raised my head a little bit more and saw my son's kit, Troutkit looking at me. Where was Violetkit? Then I remembered she had passed away many moons ago. Too many.
"Oh, hey Troutkit." I meowed.
"Who's Violetkit?" Another voice said from behind me, I recognized it as my son's other kit with his mate Olivestorm, Breezekit.
"Violetkit is your father's sister." I said sadly.
"Father has a littermate? How come we never met her?" Breezekit chirped.
"She, she's with Starclan now, along with Soakkit, your father's other littermate." I smiled softly, trying to mask my pain.
"What's Starclan." Breezekit asked.
Troutkit whispered loudly. "That means that Soakkit and Violetkit are dead."
I sighed.
"Darlings, how about we leave Softblue alone." Olivestorm made a welcome intervention.
Troutkit and Breezekit went with her, I relaxed again. I must have dozed off during Leafnose and Bowstrike's argument.
The smell of fresh fish hit my nose, and my belly grumbled in response.
I pulled myself up and went over to the fresh kill pile. Fish were piled up on it.
"Mother, would you like to share a fish with me?" I heard Slipstrong's voice ask.
I turned and saw him dangling a fish from his mouth.
"Sure." I meowed.
We sat in the sun and feasted on the fish. It tasted amazing.
"Whitepaw actually caught it." He told me.
"Oh really." I said, Whitepaw had been having a difficult time catching prey, I was glad that was over.
Slipstrong and I continued talking, him still refusing and pretending that nothing was going on.
Chapter 3: (Still Softblue's pov)
"Is this okay?" Whitepaw asked, she had remade my best.
I laid down on it, it was acceptable. "Whitepaw, Thai is fine."
She nodded and went on to clean Plumetail's nest.
Plumetail came over to me. "You good Softblue?" He asked gently.
"Yes dear, I'm fine." I said, my voice giving away my sorrow.
"It's okay to dwell on your loss, they were our kits, they mattered. I know you miss them always, so do I. But don't keep your grief hidden." He laid down next to me.
My head rested on his shoulder. He was the only one able to console me.
"Windclan! Windclan!" A cat screeched outside.
Plumetail and I exchanged worried glances. Ten we hightailed it out of our den. Whitepaw, Bowstrike and Leafnose on our heels.
Pebbleear stood in the middle of camp, screeching about Windclan.
Olivestorm quickly gathered Breezekit and Troutkit to her side.
Warriors got in position, with our leader at the very front.
Our medicine cat and his apprentice gathered herbs galore.
Pebbleear already bleeding out of a deep scratch on her side, can over to us, denying medical assistance.
"All elders, queens, kits, come with me. That includes you Whitepaw, you are too young to fight." Pebbleear collected us, and guided us to the secret exit in the dirt place.
I saw Windclan warriors enter our camp and throw themselves at our own warriors, Slipstrong was somewhere among that mass, I would not let another one of my kits die.
Breaking off from the protected group, I hurled myself into the fight.
The End (until I make a part two)
It was supposed to be a normal day for elders but it kind of changed. So... idk.
My sister still had yet to write her own warrior oneshot. Thank you for reading my book.
