Leopardfur sat by a river, staring into it as she waited for a fish to swim near-by. Her shadow was not in the water and her eyes stared closer at the sight of a small shadow swimming in the water. Fish. When the fish swam very close to the riverbank, the RiverClan deputy swiped her forepaw swiftly in the water. The fish was scooped out and was in the air. Leopardfur stared up at a descending fish. It landed by the she-cat's paws, flopping helplessly. With one blow with her unsheathed claws, Leopardfur killed the fish in one blow.
"That was amazing, Leopardfur." Leopardfur turned and noticed her mate Whiteclaw standing by reed beds.
"Thanks," the she-cat purred. Whiteclaw padded over to his mate and sat next to her. "I thought you were on Mistyfoot's patrol." Whiteclaw nodded.
"Yeah. I picked up your scent and told Mistyfoot I was going to check the river over here."
"Okay," Leopardfur mewed.
"I can't stay for long although I'd like to because Mistyfoot and the others are waiting for me. Blackclaw will start complaining if I stay for too long." Leopardfur imagined an impatient Blackclaw complaining to Mistyfoot about Whiteclaw taking too long. To her, Blackclaw was the most impatient cat she'd ever known. Still, he was a good warrior. Leopardfur let out a sigh.
"I wish we could spend more time together. I hardly get to talk to you ever since Crookedstar made me deputy."
"I wish that too," Whiteclaw agreed. "Perhaps we could see each other at moonhigh when the Clan's sleeping?" Leopardfur thought about it.
"Okay. I can't stay out for long, though, because I think Crookedstar is going to get me to lead a dawn patrol."
"It's okay. We could meet at Sunningrocks," Whiteclaw mewed.
"Okay. But make sure to be aware of any ThunderClan cats."
"I will, although I doubt ThunderClan cats would be sneaking over to Sunningrocks," Whiteclaw said.
"Bluestar might send out a patrol to reclaim Sunningrocks."
"Leopardfur, there's nothing to worry about. Bluestar wouldn't cause a fight after what happened to Redtail," the RiverClan tom mewed.
"Yeah, I guess so. Bluestar did lose Redtail to the battle at Sunningrocks a few seasons ago," the deputy mewed.
"Anyway, I better get going now before Mistyfoot gets Blackclaw to look for me," Whiteclaw said.
"Okay," Leopardfur mewed. "I'll be waiting for you at moonhigh." Whiteclaw got onto his paws and began to trot away. Leopardfur watched and when the tom disappeared, she picked up the fish in her jaws and began to make her way back to the camp.
