"I'm going to go fetch some more marigold," Jayfeather told Briarlight. "If any cat wants my help tell them they have to wait."

"You're going to see Willowshine again, aren't you?" Briarlight asked, her amber eyes serious.

"No," Jayfeather replied. "I am loyal to my Clan, not to some RiverClan medicine cat."

"Stop lying to me," Briarlight sighed. "I know you've been seeing her. I can smell the faint scent of a RiverClan cat on you sometimes. I may not have attended any Gatherings, but I know the smell of RiverClan when I scent it." Jayfeather let out a sigh.

"Okay, I have," the blind medicine cat admitted. "She actually understands me almost like Half Moon." Briarlight blinked.

"Who's Half Moon?" she asked.

"Will you stop asking me questions?" Jayfeather questioned, his tail twitching with annoyance. "Just don't tell any cat about this, okay?" Briarlight remained silent but gave a nod. Jayfeather walked out of the medicine den and then he could feel something pouncing onto his tail. He heard squeals and recognised Brightheart's kits; Amberkit, Snowkit and Dewkkt. "My tail is not a leaf or anything."

"We're practising our fighting," Amberkit mewed. She unsheathed her tiny claws and dug them into Jayfeather's tail.

"Stop that!" Jayfeather hissed, swatting Amberkit away with his tail. He began stalking out of the Stone Hollow and into the forest. At least I'll get away from the Clan for a while, the grey tabby thought. I'm sure the Clan will cope with Leafpool. After all, she was Cinderpelt's apprentice.

Soon the ThunderClan arrived at the ShadowClan border and paused. The scent of the ShadowClan cats filled up in his nose. Good, the scent is stale.

"I thought you weren't going to come!" Jayfeather got a fright as he recognised Willowshine's voice.

"I couldn't tell you were there," the grey tabby mewed. "Your scent was well hidden."

"I did have to roll about in a ShadowClan bush for a while," Willowshine answered. "Out of curiosity, what took you so long to get here? Did you get lost?" The RiverClan she-cat let out a mrrow of laughter.

"No," Jayfeather replied. "Brightheart's kits kept stopping me from getting out of the Stone Hollow."

"It is hard to sneak out of a camp," Willowshine agreed.

"By the way, what was it you were going to tell me at the Gathering?" Jayfeather asked as he settled himself onto the ground.

"I was going to say we should meet somewhere else," the dark grey tabby replied. "ShadowClan were suspicious of a cat trespassing on their territory."

"Okay," Jayfeather said. "Where should we meet?"

"I don't know," Willowshine answered and began to think. "The Moonpool. No WindClan cat can stop us from going there."

"That sounds like I good place," Jayfeather mewed.

"I have to get back to camp. I would like to stay but Mothwing says she needs me."

"Okay. I'll meet you at the Moonpool in two moonhighs." Willowshine gave a nod and began to race away. Jayfeather decided to walk away to collect some marigold from his herb patch.
