Fear of Heights
**Alex’s POV**
After what went down yesterday I realized that I was really going to have to start from the basics for the boys. In this case, I think it would be best to teach them how to work around in the trees, since they all are surrounded by them.
I woke myself up early in the morning, just as the sun was peeking through the sky, and got myself ready for todays practice. I tired braiding my hair but after failing for the third time, I thought it a lost cause and just tied my hair up into a ponytail.
I jumped down from my tree house with my knife tucked in my belt, ready to hunt today’s breakfast. I headed toward the north side of the island to hunt, since that held the best game and I was lucky enough to earn a few kills to my belt.
Then I headed over to the camp and I was glad to see that barely anyone was up.
The blond lost boy that I met yesterday saw me first and ran up to me with signs of curiosity in his face.
“What are you doing here so early? Pan was going to send me over to get you when the sun was half up in the sky.” He asked as he tilted his head to the side.
“Oh I’ve decided to start training early today, since it seems that we are going to need all the time we can get for this practice.” I replied and then turned and walked over to the fire pit that was already lit and ready for cooking.
The lost boy followed me to the fire pit and watched me prepare the birds as I skinned them and started adding them on the fire.
“Hey kid, can you start waking up the other lost boys? Breakfast is almost ready.” I asked the lost boy as I flipped one of the birds in the fire.
“I have a name you know.” He replied as he sat down cross legged right in front of me.
I took my attention and looked at the lost boy with curiosity. He had dirty blond hair that was a little long and shaggy. His eyes were a bright green and he gave off the impression that he was an innocent child.
“How old are you?” I asked, as I continued to look at him.
“I’m 12 and my names Chuck, thanks for asking.” He replied with a little sarcasm in his voice.
I laughed. “Sarcastic I see.” I remarked with a smile. I turned back to the birds on the fire.
“So Chuck, are you going to do as I asked or will I have to chase you with a knife like I did once before?” I asked as I raised my eyebrow at him.
He chuckled and turned toward the hide out tree.
A few minutes later I was joined by most of the lost boys and I started serving everyone something to eat. When everyone started to eat I stood up and took out my whistle and twirled it around my fingers as I paced around the campsite, waiting for everyone to finish eating.
To the lost boys, it looked like I was pacing around restless, waiting for them, but really I was going through everything in my head. I still had questions for Pan, since I still don’t trust him, especially on the subject of my brother James, whose face kept appearing in my dreams at night. Also I noticed that I haven’t seen Tinker Belle for a while now. It’s been over a month since I last seen her and every time I pass her tree house, it seems deserted. That thought worried me. What had Pan done to her?
The longer I thought about my problems, the more I wondered why I was still in Neverland and not back home with Emmy and my brother Dan and Papa.
“Hey Alex!” Pan called out as he started walking toward me from across the camp.
I turned to face him just as he stopped in front of me.
“I’m surprised to see you here so early; I thought I was going to have to get Chuck to drag you over her.” Pan joked with a smirk on his face. I rolled my eyes.
“Well we are going to need all the time possible today to teach all of you guys how to move around trees. I never realized I would have to teach you boys the basics to all this training!” I remarked with a laugh.
“I think the lost boys are ready to begin so I’ll call them over for you.” Pan replied, completely disregarding my last comment.
“Don’t forget Pan, you’re going to be joining the Lost boys on the training today too.” I added. Pan turned to glare at me for a moment then sighed and called out to the lost boys.
Quick as a Flash, the lost boys circled around both Pan and I. Pan then turned his attention back to me with his eye brows raised.
“Well? What have you got planned trainer?” He asked.
I turned my attention to the Lost boys. “Everyone follow me, and no, do not bring any weapons. You won’t need them.” I called out and then I turned and walked out of the campsite with the lost boys following me.
A few minutes later
We finally reached the clearing with two huge trees 20 feet apart. I then stopped and turned to the lost boys.
“Alright so Im going to have to divide you guys, depending on how well you guys can climb and control yourself up in the trees.” I stated.
I than started grabbing boys arms and making four different groups of lost boys. As I dragged a boy to a group I would ask him for his name, since I know that the only way I was going to teach them anything was first by learning about them all.
I started with dragging an irritating boy called Will to form the terrible climbers pile. Next was a lost boy named Ben who I dragged to form the good climbers pile.
I then grabbed Felix and placed him in the Expert pile. Next came Chuck who I placed in the quick learners pile.
I then turned around and grabbed another lost boys arm, but then found out it was Pan.
“The names Peter.” He remarked with a grin, making me roll me eyes and placed him in the expert pile.
This went on for a while until every lost boy was sorted into a group.
I then turned to them. “All right you guys, I hope you like your groups because whenever I tell you to get in your groups, these will be it so don’t forget them.” I stated.
“Are we allowed to name our groups?” Pan asked giving me an annoying smile again. He was definitely messing with me. I forced down my smile and rolled me eyes.
“I’m going to take that as a yes!” Pan called out making me smirk.
“Alright now two groups go on each tree. So get going now, and I don’t care if you’re afraid of heights! Just climb up to a branch.” I called out.
The expert group and the pretty good group climbed the first tree and then the fast learners and the terrible climbers climbed the second tree.
After five minutes of trying not to laugh at how bad most of them were at climbing, the lost boys finally had their own branches.
“Wow Alex, this is definitely hard! I’m so glad your teaching this to us.” Pan called out with loads of sarcasm.
I laughed and turned to Peter. “Thanks Pan! But we haven’t even started the actual training yet. I was just getting you guys in position.” I called out with another laugh.
“So boys, the first lesson I will be teaching you is how to defeat your fear of heights. So everyone turn around so that your back is facing me.” I called out. Most of the lost boys became a little concerned as they slowly rotated themselves to face the opposite direction, but then there was Pan who quickly turned around, ready for the next step.
“Alright, now we are going to play a little game called Trust Fall.”
“Now everyone fall backwards” I called out with a grin on my face.
Hey There!
So here is another chapter for you all. I've decided that every sunday I will add another chapter since sundays are always my lazy days and I normally have nothing to do.
So what do you guys think of this chapter? Is Alex being to harsh about this new game called trust fall or are you excited to see how this game plays out?
