Change of Plans
****Peters POV****
"Alright Tinkerbelle, you better start talking about why you brought another girl on to this island." I stated as I crossed my arms and stared at her as she folded her hands onto her lap.
"I found what you wanted me to find Pan. That girl was the one who was holding on to it, and if I did not bring her, then I would not have been able to give it to you." She replied in a small but steady voice.
I frowned in concentration. "You mean to tell me that you found out how Alex got onto this island?" I asked in return. She nodded.
"Well then tell me, what is it?" I asked as I walked up to her. She stood up right as I walked up to her, but it didn’t make that much of a difference, since she is pretty small.
"It’s a thing Pan. Actually it’s a book, full of fairy tales including your story." She replied.
"What do you mean by my story?" I asked. She gave a small laugh.
"Why Pan, didn’t you know that you are famous with all the children down below. Someone made up this story about you, that is not exactly true but it still works I guess and well kids everywhere love it." She answered.
"Well then I'm guessing that you have the book then if you brought this other girl... "
"Emmy. That’s her name." Tinkerbelle cut in.
"Yeah well since you brought her here then you must have the book right?" I asked her and she nodded.
"Well then give it here." I replied as I stretched out my hand, waiting for her to give me the book. She turned around toward her little bag and pulled out a big book that looked to big to ever be able to be held in the bag, but I did not ask.
I grabbed it from her and started walking toward the rope ladder when she stopped me.
"What do you plan to do know that you have the book in your hands?" She asked as she stared at me.
"Not that it is any of your concern, but I plan to destroy it and get rid of everything that it caused."
Then without her giving me any reply, I climbed down the ladder and disappeared into the forest.
**Alex POV**
"Get up!" I heard someone say from far away in my mind. I groaned and turned my head so that my ears were deep into my pillow.
"I said get up Alex! Or else I will have to drag you!" I heard a voice say.
"Trust me Emmy, I am very skilled at staying on my bed when others try to get me off." I murmured quietly. I heard her chuckle.
"Fine then, if I can’t drag you off then I will have to improvise."
I surprisingly did not expect what came next, even though it had happened before, but surprise surprise, Emmy decided to drench me in cold water. That woke me up.
I jumped out of bed expecting to find James staring at me with the water bucket still in his hands but instead I found myself staring at an evil grinning Emmy with her glass of what used to be water in her hands.
"Good you are up, now let’s get going. I want this training thing over with." She replied as she turned to grab my clothes that she had somehow packed for me in her bag.
"Why did you bring me clothes?" I asked as if that was the stupidest thing to do. She rolled her eyes.
"Because silly, after Tinkerbelle told me what you were doing up here, I suspected that you would be a complete mess, and boy was I right. Now go get changed. I will be trying to find their camp site." She replied and as she did so, she lifted up the little door on the ground that had the rope ladder hanging down from it.
"But you will get lost Emmy!" I exclaimed. She just smiled and said; "Well then you better hurry."
I took me no time what so ever to get my clothes that consisted of a grey skirt with a black shirt. I decided to ditch the skirt and put my normal pants back on, but kept the black shirt and grabbed my jacket as well.
Emmy and I ran through the forest and I showed her how I hunted which she found to be very strange. When we reached the camp, Emmy decided that she would cook instead of me for once, for she wanted to "do something".
Most of the boys were already up and they watched Emmy while she cooked. A few talked to her and seemed to be nice, including Chuck, who seemed the happiest out of the rest.
Once everyone had gotten something to eat, I started telling everyone what the plan was for the day.
"Ok you guys, Since Pan does not want me to teach you water tactics since it is I guess to "dangerous", I am going to teach you all how to use a bow and arrow, properly."
"Actually, I think the boys already know how to use a bow properly Alex. I have something else in mind." Pan replied from behind me. I turned around to find him walking out of the trees with his hands crossed in front of him.
"Oh really Pan, tell me what is that?" I asked. He smiled.
"You have yet to teach the boys how to hunt in the dark. Why don’t tonight, we play a game of Hide and Seek that you made us play on your first training session, to see how they improved."
I thought it out for a moment and then finally nodded.
"Fine, but today I am still going to teach some of the boys how to use a bow, including you." I replied.
"Sure thing, but I hope you are also going to make your friend over there do the same thing, since I don’t think any of the boys are in the mood to watch her." He replied as he stared at Emmy. Emmy gave him an annoyed look.
"You sure? I thought Felix would love to watch her." I replied with a smile. Emmy elbowed me in the ribs and I thought I heard Felix snap something from behind me. Pan just smiled at me.
"Just get on with it Alex." He replied. And so I did.
I made the boys go back and grab bows and arrows while with Emmy's help, we made more targets on trees around the camp. Once the boys got back I started making them learn how to shoot, and Pan was right in saying that most of the boys knew what they were doing, but a few still did not.
At one point Chuck, who was getting a little red in the face every time Emmy and I passed him, shot and arrow so badly astray that it was coming right at me. I quickly grabbed it by the end before it hit home and threw it on the ground, while I listened to multiple apologies from Chuck.
We were half done with the session when I found Pan walking toward me with his bow and arrows in his hands.
"How do you catch something like that heading toward you?" He asked me curiously. I smiled.
"What, do you want a private lesson about how you catch deadly objects being thrown at you?" I asked with a smirk.
"Yes if you could." He replied sounding surprisingly serious. I turned toward Emmy standing right behind me.
"Watch the boys. I will be back in a little bit." I stated and she nodded.
Pan and I walked toward the opposite side of the camp and with my dagger, I made another target.
"Stand in front of the target." I demanded as I grabbed the arrows and bow from him. He did as he was told and waited.
"You will know when to catch an object when you feel like it’s about to hit you. You have to clear your mind and use that extra effort to swing your arm around the back and grab it." I replied.
"First I will use sticks that are not sharp, and then when you have caught at least a good few, I will start using arrows."
He did not ask a single question, but instead looked determined. The first few I shot at him hit him square in the chest but the seventh one he caught and after that he started catching almost everyone. Talk about fast learner.
The time seemed to pass by very fast, for as soon as Pan caught his 12th arrow in a row, it was getting dark.
Pan walked away from the target and called all the boys to head towards him. Instead of me explaining the rules, he explained them, giving it his own little twist on the rules.
1) We were able to go anywhere on the island
2) We could use any weapon to protect ourselves
3) No goodie bag to help us
4) Emmy and Chuck were it
I stared at him as he explained what we had to do and when he was making all the boys run to get a weapon, he turned to me and told me that I was to play to, expect that I could not use any weapons, except my knife.
I felt like that was not fair, but then again it was only Chuck and Emmy. It's not like they will kill me.
A few minutes later we were all by the line and Emmy and Chuck stood on the other side. I walked over to Emmy and handed her my whistle.
"Make sure you give that back to me when this thing is over. I like that whistle." I replied with a smile.
"That stinks; I was really hoping I could keep it." She replied and I gave her a nudge and walked back to my side of the line.
"On your mark
get set
go!" Emmy yelled out and we all sprinted through the forest.
I ran through the trees thinking of what was the least likely place that Chuck would ever go, and immediately I thought of the mermaid beach. As I ran that way, I heard the crushing of leaves and sticks and out came Pan. He was going the same way as I was.
"Buzz off Pan, the beach is my spot."
He smiled and ran past me, heading toward the beach. That Jerk.
I decided to run after him and it took only a few minutes to finally reach the Beach.
I was looking for a place to hide, but there really was not much there. I turned my head to see Pan trying to get my attention. He pointed toward the Rocky side of the island, which I had never been to before but I nodded.
I followed him until we were up on the cliffs.
"I made all my lost boys know that they should never come up to these cliffs, just in case they do something stupid causing one of them to fall." Pan said as he walked with me toward the edge. We had to be at least twenty feet up, making the water look bright blue even though it was dark out.
"You forgot to tell me about how the mermaids played with your hair Alex, yesterday." Pan remarked at he leaned on one of the rocks by the edge. I stared at him surprised.
'So what if mermaids were playing with my hair." I stated as I sat down on one of the rocks opposite Pan.
"You might think the mermaids are all friendly but you are wrong."
"I know that Pan. It’s hard to forget those girls trying to push me into the water like they are about to drown me." I replied sarcastically.
"That’s not what I mean. I know that you ran to the beach yesterday, and it was not because you wanted to feed us fish. You went to see the mermaids since they must have been "Kind" to you but you are terribly wrong." Pan stated. He stared at me but I could not see his facial expression that well since it was so dark out.
"It has happened before you know." He added. That made me look up.
"What do you mean?" I asked quietly.
"Their used to be a girl here by the name of Wendy. She came here looking for some boy I guess and she met the mermaids. They were friendly to her. They gave her things like seashells and told her supposed secrets that made her want to go back to them. One day she messed up and did something stupid that made her almost drown, but thankfully I was there with some of the boys so we got her out of there." Pan answered.
I felt myself tense up, for it all sounded so much like what the mermaids did to me, but I did not want to show Pan. He didn’t seem to notice though, because of the darkness.
"What happened to that girl, Wendy?" I asked. I watched him shift in his seat as he thought for a moment.
"After the mermaid attack, she wanted to go home, so I let her. I have not seen her since." He finished.
I heard the noises of people running out in the forest making me stand up.
"I think it’s time to split up Pan. They seem to be...”
Pan stood up just as fast but before I could finish my sentence he had his hand over my mouth and my dagger in the other the was wrapped around me and stayed by my neck.
I tried to flip him, or do anything to get out of his hold but he just squeezed me tighter making me unable to move my arms at all.
He stood so that he was facing the side of my head.
"You actually think that you could get past me with hand to hand combat? I thought you were smarter than this. I have been watching your ways of strategy ever since you came onto this island." He whispered quietly.
I was now trying anything to get out of his hold but I was failing miserably. I heard people running in the forest, this time closer. Come on, please find us, please...
I saw Pan move away from me and lifted his hand from my mouth making me free. I tried to move but to my surprise I could not. He laughed at my weak attempts to move.
"You must have forgotten that I have magic. I guess you were right in thinking that I should not use magic during the training sessions, otherwise you would remember what I can do and then maybe you would have been smarter, but here we are and look at you." He said quietly but with an evil smile on his face. His facial expression was something I have never seen before. He had shown himself to be a completely different type of evil.
I tried to scream to get everyone’s attention but I found that my voice was so quiet all of a sudden, as If I was whispering.
"What have you done to me? Why are you doing this?" I demanded in a whisper. Pan only smiled.
"You have decided to come to this island even though you were not welcome here. You broke the laws I had placed here and made me look like a fool to the lost boys. You and your sarcastic remarks did not help you in the slightest. And because of that I am going to kill you Alex. I am going to get rid of you and everything that your stupid brother’s book did to this island. It’s my island! Not yours, not his, and not your friends either. Be happy that I am not doing something far worse for your death. At least here you might have a quick getaway to death once you hit the water. But if you don’t, then that is not a problem for I am sure the mermaids will love to have you."
I started shaking, no matter how I tried to calm myself I could not. I had only been this scared twice before. The first time was when I was five, and I was by myself in the forest behind the house. It was dark and I had no idea where I was and I had no one there with me. The second time was when Papa was off at war, and a telegram was sent saying he was missing in action. I wasn’t scared of Papa dying. I was scared of being an orphan. In some ways it is the same here. I am not scared of dying. The fact that I will never see the rest of my family again, the fact that I left Emmy and Tinkerbelle at the mercy of Pan scares me.
The noises from the forest were getting closer but I knew it was too late. Pan lifted his hand so that it was facing me like a gun. He had his smirk on his face, like he normally did during training.
I was wrong. Pan was smarter than me.
I got too far ahead of myself
And now I'm going to pay the price.
In one motion I felt the invisible bindings break free from my arms and the spell making me whisper leave me. But I also felt a push, sending my off the cliff.
Maybe now I will see my brother and mother again...
I could only hope.
Please dont get angry at me! It's part of the story line and trust me when I say that it will get better... Well hopefully, I'm not sure yet since one of my friends saw my timeline for this story and she reads this story so I may change what I had planned. I know that most of you are most likly thinking that I took this from an ending of a really good book, but I will not say its name because it would be mean to spoil a book for everyone. I am just going to say this once. I did not copy this idea from any popular book. I made this timeline for the story way before I looked at the series.
I will not be able to upload until next weekend, because I will be traveling...
Lots of Love
