five. kisses goodbye

Michael enters his room, a smile on his face as he wiggles his greasy digits.

"As you can hear by the humming, Papa Mike got that engine revving." He chuckled, heading for his bathroom.

Aaran throws on a smile, one that's half genuine and half not, quiet as he turned on the sink.

The boy noticed and looked at the girl over his shoulder as he lathered his hands.

"Someone's quiet. I thought you'd be all over me after knowing that." Michael said playfully, turning the knobs and grabbing a hand towel.

Aaran let off an airy, small, short chuckle, one that didn't last too long and made the boy only more concerned.

"You already know you don't have to do all that for me to be all over you."

"That's what I like to hear." Michael winked, making the girl giggle then roll her browns. He soon hovered over the girl, cupping her face and caressing her cheeks.

"You're really pretty, Aaran." The boy complimented, giving her nose a peck. The girl giggled at both his cute words and even cuter action.

"So are you, pretty boy." She replied smoothly, mimicking his motion but he moved so her lips could find his own.

Aaran smiled into the kiss, reaching a hand up to cup his cheek.

They've never kissed on the lips before, only on the cheek or forehead, but never on the lips.

But boy, was Aaran not complaining. She was actually happy they waited to kiss because that made it even sweeter.

The way his pinks lips molded with her two-toned, brown and dark pink pair would've pleased the greatest sculptor.

How she could taste the sweetness between their moving folds as if sugar rested behind each of their tongues.

It was magical and it was only until he pulled back that she realized that.

"Wow." She blurted out, making the boy chuckle. He kissed her forehead and shrugged.

"I mean, I get that often so." Michael rolled his eyes like it was nothing, making the girl fondly suck her teeth and smack his arm.

"Yeah, I bet." Aaran let off a breathy laugh, following him with her eyes as he sat next to the girl, throwing an arm over her shoulder.

He smiled up at her. "I'm really glad you decided to come over. I know this probably wasn't the 'neighborly' visit you expected and I'm sorry if I overstepped my boundaries it's just that--" Michael cut himself off, sucking his teeth and furrowing his brows.

He began to feel bad for being so forward with the girl.

Aaran was quick to shake her head, bringing a hand to his face to move it to her direction.

"No, you don't have to apologize. I mean, sure, this wasn't the most 'neighborly' visit but it was better than that." She smiled, caressing his cheek with her thumb.

Michael smiled, his cheeks pink as the blood rushed to them. The girl continued. "You didn't overstep any boundaries in my eyes...at least none that I didn't want overstepped anyway." Aaran mumbled the last part but he heard according to the chuckle that escapes his lips.

He squinted at the girl and smirked. "So, you had this planned, huh?" Michael joked, per usual, making the girl roll her eyes, per usual.

"Michael, be quiet." She sighed, a grin finding her face when he giggled then soon, the thoughts of leaving took over, causing her frown.

The blond caught her expression and leaned over to see the girl better.

"Hey, you alright, babe?" Michael asked, moving his hand to her back and comfortly rubbing it.

Aaran sighed, giving the boy a look he couldn't decipher. He couldn't make out what she was expressing but she surely wasn't happy.

"Mike, I talked to my parents--"

"Aw, wait! You didn't tell 'em about us, did you? That'd be weird since I'm you neighbor and I'm old--"

"What? Mike, no just--let me finish." Aaran shook her head, sighing for maybe the tenth time that day. Michael nodded and gave her back a small squeeze.

"They told me that the blizzard would be blowing over soon in a few hours." The girl bit at her lip.

Michael raised his brows and smiled, making the girl knot her pair together.

"Really? That's awe--Oh." The boy came into realization quick, dropping his pair below his forehead. Aaran nodded and moved her head towards the wall ahead of her.

Everything kind of fell silent because these were literally the last few hours they had together and neither of them wanted it that way.

No way they'd be able to turn this into something serious, not with Aaran's parents.

The first thing they'll bring up, besides the fact that he's their neighbor and that's weird, is the six year age difference between the two. Both Aaran and Michael knew that.

So trying that out would be a dead end, really.

Which meant she couldn't tell them about what happened or even the fact that she spent the night.

Aaran hated how she couldn't find a way that her and Michael could work.

Not like their feelings were deep, if there even were feelings like that, it's just they enjoyed each other's company...and lips.

Maybe somewhere down the line something deeper could develop but that wasn't here nor there.

Right now, it just bugged then both that the night they shared, all cuddled up and whatnot, would be the last, at least for a long while.

"Who is going to keep me warm for the rest of winter?" Michael blurted, bringing a chuckle from Aaran's lips, breaking their silence completely.

Michael laughs along with her then nudges her gently with an elbow. "I'm serious. I really enjoyed having you over." He said, green eyes looking the girl over.

A smirk slowly formed on Aaran's lips, turning to face Michael and raising a brow. She had an idea.

"It doesn't have to be the last time I come over." She said and the boy gave her a puzzling expression.

-

"So, I put my number in your phone." Michael said as he escorted her to her front door. Aaran looked up from her feet and scrunched her brows up at her cute neighbor.

"When did you get my phone?"

"Uh, don't worry 'bout that." He said playfully, nudging the girl. Aaran squinted up at the boy as she searched her pocket for her keys.

The sky was now clear, the storm blown over and no longer bringing misery to poor ol' Utah.

Now the sidewalks were slippery and the trees were covered in melting snow. You could hear the cars forming on the roads.

As if they didn't have a blizzard a few hours ago.

"So, we're friends now?" Michael asked as she unlocked her door. Aaran lifted her curly head and smiled.

"Yeah...to my parents we're just friends so I can have a reason to come over." She explained and the boy chuckled, stepping over to wrap his arms around her waist.

"Mm, but little do they know." He hummed against her lips. Aaran giggled, pecking his lips twice then pulling away when she hears a familiar horn.

Her parents were just pulling up on the other side of the house.

The girl was thankful they couldn't see her from the way the house was built.

"You got to go." She said softly, peeking behind the wall near the porch.

Michael nodded then kissed her forehead three times quickly before walking backwards.

His last words making her smile from ear to ear.

"See you around, neighbor." He winked, turning to face forward as he headed for his house.

Yeah, Aaran was glad she made the decision to ask her neighbor for help.
