Burn (Part 5) - Roshan x Kento
**Oh boy it looks like this is the end of this...challenging series. Probably. Maybe it'll come back. At this point, I've totally forgotten why I decided to write Roshan x Kento oneshots in the first place.**
**WARNINGS: Breakup, intimacy preceding said breakup, probably crying, accusations of cheating, probably swearing, most likely a heated argument. I'm sorry if I miss some details from the books that make this inaccurate - let me know if you notice anything wrong. Enjoy the bitter end to this ship >:D**
Kento had gotten back from Seoul not too long ago. Roshan had welcomed him with a warm hug at the airport, smiling gently and touching their lips together after being apart for so long.
"I missed you so much," laughed Kento as he snuggled into Roshan's grip.
"I missed you more, babe," Roshan responded, grinning.
"Nuh-uhh," Kento giggled. "I missed you most."
The parade for Team Andromeda was magnificent and crazy and all-out. And of course, being the supportive partner he was, Roshan was a spectator. He watched and cheered as his boyfriend waved to Team Andromeda's adoring fans. Kento had taken a second to make a heart-shape with his hands in Roshan's direction.
When he and Kento had first started dating, there was something truly perfect and beautiful between them that they couldn't find anywhere else. They never could've felt happier, nothing could bother them in those first few days. They were equally smitten, they knew everything about each other, and going anywhere without each other was not too far off from going without oxygen.
But...it had fizzled out since then. As much as Roshan loved him, there were no more fireworks whenever they kissed. The connection began to seem more and more superficial as time went on, with no true meaning behind it except physical intimacy. With Tremaine, it felt as if they were made for each other, complimentary to each other. There weren't constant reminders of 'I love you', it was just a known, unwritten fact. They could see it in the way their hands fit together, in the way they looked into each other's eyes, in the intimacy and trust in their conversations.
Ugh. Tremaine. That was a whole other story. That night in the hospital was on constant replay in Roshan's mind, but...not in a bad way.
You know, I'm not over you.
I'm not either.
That was exactly what Roshan was thinking of as he walked into Team Andromeda's dorm the night after the parade. He had been planning on spending yet another night in Kento's dorm. Speaking of, Kento came walking up to him and smiled as they exchanged a kiss. "Hi sweetheart," Roshan murmured as they held each other close. "Hi, Ro," he responded.
"Sorry I'm late," Roshan apologized, noticing that the sun had already set and he'd promised to be there earlier that evening. "I got distracted."
"Oh. With what?"
He shrugged. "Talking to the Demon Brigade. Just checking on Tremaine. You know, only because Emi needs his help, and he just now got back from the hospital and I wanted to check if he's recovering alright." Solid excuse.
"Oh. Cool," Kento said, grinning half-heartedly. He didn't believe that that was the only reason Roshan was talking to Tremaine.
As Roshan detected this, he smiled gently, cupping Kento's cheek. "I promise that's the only reason I'm checking on him," he said.
Kento hesitantly nodded. He did trust Roshan, after all.
~~~~~~
An hour later, Roshan and Kento were tangled in the sheets of Kento's bed, a mix of arms and legs. Their lips inseparably connected, neither of them daring to pull away for air. When they finally did part, the gasping moan of Kento's name on Roshan's lips was music to Kento's ears. They lay there together afterwards, in a comfortable silence, gazing into each other's eyes for a good minute.
"Something's bothering you," Kento murmured after another moment passed. Their Link made it easier to read each other's emotions.
"I'm fine," Roshan replied. "Better than fine, actually, because I'm with you."
Kento rolled his eyes. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," he repeated.
Another moment.
"What does Tremaine have that I don't?"
"What?"
"You still love him, don't you?"
"Of course not, Kento. Not after what he did, how he abandoned me and the rest of the Riders. Besides, I love you and only you."
Kento remained silent.
"Please don't look at me that way, love," Roshan sighed.
"I want to trust you."
"You can trust me."
"But you've been different since I got back. Something's been distracting you, and you tell me about all the times you visited Tremaine when he was at the hopsital, all the times you've talked to him, and I can't help but worry-"
"Well, you don't have to worry," Roshan said, and the lie hung there in the air, its defensiveness imminent.
"Roshan, look me in the eyes and tell me that you do not have feelings for Tremaine anymore," Kento whispered, his eyes shining with a pleading intensity that snapped Roshan's heart in half. He didn't want to have to do this. He didn't want to lose Kento, and he did not want to admit that he still loved Tremaine.
But...he did. Deep down inside, he did.
But Kento was there, waiting expectantly. God, he didn't want to lose this beautiful man.
He must have been silent for too long, because Kento said, "That's what I thought."
"No, babe, I-"
"You don't have to explain yourself to me," Kento said, sighing.
"You don't understand-"
"I understand just fine," Kento snapped. Roshan went silent.
"Sorry I'm not good enough for you," Kento mumbled angrily, moving away from him.
"I never said you weren't good enough," Roshan said, sitting up and trying to move closer to him.
"Get the fuck away from me!" Kento shouted, standing to make more distance between them, his voice cracking. Then in a softer tone, in one last plea: "Did this mean anything to you? Was...was I just a distraction?"
"Of course not, Kento."
Kento sighed. "Whatever."
"You believe me, don't you?"
"The only thing I believe...is that I'm done with your bullshit," he hissed. He gathered up Roshan's clothes and threw them towards him.
"Get out."
"Bu-"
"Now, Roshan."
"I thought we were okay..."
"I thought we were, too. But you fucked up. Next time you find someone that loves you, don't try to hide things from them. It leads to things like this."
Roshan was near tears. "But, babe-"
"Don't call me babe, Roshan! We're done! Get the fuck out of my room!"
Roshan quickly got dressed and was two steps from the door before he lingered.
"Kento?"
"Mm."
"I-I love you. I'm sorry."
"Fuck off."
Roshan left, exiting the dorm quickly and quietly into the night air. The air stung his eyes, but it was like a comforting summer day compared to what had just happened.
The Phoenix Riders' dorm was in sight when he had an idea. His tears dried. His heart leapt. He stopped dead in his tracks. Squaring his shoulders, he turned around and headed for the Demon Brigade's dorm.
