|two ─ moving|

veronica and vanessa packed up their luggage to move to district 21. it was around 2am and they were sneaking out so their mom couldn't see or hear them. they were talking to each other near the front door.

"roni, we're gonna get caught by mom." vanessa whispered.

"no we're not, calm down would ya?" veronica said as she was scurrying around to find her luggage.

"roni i don't wanna go anymore." vanessa whined.

"nessa we have to c'mon." veronica said stopping.

"what are you girls doing?" wendy, veronica and vanessa's mom said as she walked up behind veronica, veronica winces.

"hi mother!" veronica said jokingly, turning around.

"gee i really like your hair tonight." veronica said touching wendy's hair.

"get your hands off me!" wendy said smacking veronica's arm.

veronica grabbed her arm mouthing out "oww."

"you're moving to dirstict 21, aren't you?" wendy asked crossing her arms.

"how'd you know." roni asked confused.

"i figured." wendy said walking to the kitchen grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.

"have fun!" wendy waved as she walked back to her bedroom.

"what?!" vanessa yelled.

"she's not gonna yell at us?!?!" vanessa yelled.

"thankfully no." veronica sighed in relief.

"mom come back!" vanessa yelled.

"nessa, what are you doing?!" veronica asked whispering trying to turn vanessa around.

"what nessa?" wendy asked poking her head out the door.

"isn't district 21 bad?!?!" vanessa asked in concern.

"yes but you guys can handle it, i'm getting really old, you're getting really old." veronica and vanessa jaws dropped in rudeness.

"i'm not telling you guys what you can and can not do, you're 18 years old now. it's your choices now." wendy said going back into her room and shuts the door. there was a short silence.

"c'mon nessa, we need to go." veronica said breaking the silence, setting her hand on vanessa's shoulder as she turned around.

"c'mon grayson, we need to go!" ethan yelled looking up from his phone to the ceiling.

"yeah yeah, i'm coming." grayson said as he was carrying his luggage down the stairs to front of the door.

"okay gray let's go." ethan said putting his phone in his pocket as he walked out the door.

"wait!" grayson exclaimed running back upstairs as ethan stopped in the middle the doorway, ethan sighed.

after 2 minutes grayson came rushing down the stairs with a stuffed turtle in his hands.

"what are you gonna do with that?" ethan asked in concern.

"putting it in my luggage, duh."

"no you stupid duck, what are you gonna do with that." ethan said.

"well, i'm taking it to district with me." grayson answered.

"why?" ethan asked.

"well, because when-" grayson got interrupted by ethan.

"yeah, yeah okay lets go. we have to stop by starbucks first." ethan said walking out the door.

"wait?!" grayson exclaimed.

"what now grayson?" ethan asked turning back frustrated.

"why starbucks?" grayson asked.

"god we're not getting drinks i just want a cake pop." ethan replied as he continued walking.

ethan and grayson arrived at starbucks and parked their car fairly close to the entrance.

"i'll go in by myself." ethan said. "you want a cake pop too?" ethan asked looking over as he was just about to open the car door.

"nah i'm good thanks." grayson replied looking up from his phone.

ethan walked in and suddenly he bumped into a woman in the middle of the entrance and her drink spilled all over her and ethan.

"oh my gosh!" the woman yelled.

"oh, i'm so sorry ma'am i'll go get napkins." ethan said as he rushed in to grab some napkins.

the woman kneeled down to pick up the sandwich and the two cake pops she bought as well. ethan came back out with a handful of napkins.

"here, a hand can fit so much." ethan said handing her the napkins. he
kneeled down to pick up her glasses that were covered in iced coffee, luckily it wasn't shattered but really scratched.

"i think this is yours." ethan said with a blushed embarrassed face as he handed her her glasses.

"again, i'm really sorry i'll go buy you another drink and even pay for new glasses i-" ethan got interrupted by her.

"it's fine don't worry." she said wiping the coffee off her glasses with a napkin as she walked off. ethan stared at her as she walked off then looked down and let out a sigh.

"god ethan, why do you have to be so stupid?" ethan thought to himself "she was cute too." then he went back inside the starbucks to get his orders.

August 2017
District 21

they arrived at district and saw a big gate that lead to different buildings

"welcome veronica and vanessa merrell." said some sort of voice that sounded like a guy, the girls both jump.

"what?" veronica asked in confusion.

"oh sorry look to the right of you." the voice said. the girls saw a small speaker with four small red buttons that was connected to the wall where the gate ended.

"i'll click this button." vanessa said as it made a cartoonish click noise.

"nessa what are you doing?!?!" veronica yelled pulling her hand away from behind her as the gate doors opened.

"well it opened right?" vanessa exclaimed looking back at her.

"well done girls." the voice said

"what?" veronica asked confused.

"you passed the first task." the voice said.

"oh please they're just messin with us." vanessa said turning back then started walking

"your dorm house is 455 by the way." the voice exclaimed, roni stopped just as she was about to walk and furrowed her eyebrows then started walking.

the girls reached dorm 455 and vanessa stopped and veronica also stopped right behind her almost running into her.

"i think i found it!" vanessa yelled looking up.

"yeah no kidding look at your feet." veronica said sarcastically as vanessa looked down and it said in big writing "455" on the ground near the front of the door.

"oh." vanessa exclaimed. the dorm house looked like a big house and it looked like a modern day house but it had a company look to it. it had grey outer walls with a black roof and a big door that was a slightly darker grey as the walls and had a white line that outlined the outside of the door.

"let's knock." vanessa said but just as she was about to knock the doors open.

it looked like a big living room, it looked really new and futuristic-like, the walls were plain white so was the flooring with a big carpet. it had no kitchen, no sofa, nothing, just a big room with one single desk in the middle. there were stairs on both sides as rooms wrapped all around. almost like a small motel.

"hi!" a lady said as she opened the door. i'm cassie." she said. veronica and vanessa both had a confused face.

"cassie thurmann?" she repeated. "i'm the one who called you." she said.

"ohhhhh." veronica and vanessa both said.

"yeah, well anyways come this way." cassie said, still having joy in her voice as she lead them up the stairs to another door.

cassie opened the door and showed them their room. it was like a studio, a small room with a kitchen, living space and two bunk beds.

"wow it's small but it's really nice." veronica said as she pushed her luggage handle down.

"yeah it is. well you guys make yourself at home because we have some other people who'll be living here as well." cassie said going out the door.

"like who?" veronica asked.

"you'll see." cassie giggled with a smirk.

"well okay." veronica says to herself.

"we have this whole place to ourselves?!" vanessa exclaimed.

"wow! roni c'mon!" vanessa yells jumping on the couch.

"nessa, stop being childish." veronica said while carrying her bags next to the bunk beds.

"i call top bunk!" vanessa yells raising her hand up.

"wait, nessa.... why are there two bunk beds?" veronica said turning her head quickly which flipped her hair as well. vanessa shrugs but then the door opened, it was carrie and two other guys but she was trying to hide them from the girls before showing them.

"girls, these are your roommates." cassie said stepping back showing ethan and grayson.

"... you!" veronica said fast walking up to ethan.

"oh no." vanessa exclaimed as roni was walking.

"you spilled coffee on me!" veronica yelled pointing her finger in his face, putting both her hands on her hips.

"i didn't mean to!" ethan said raising his hands up to his chest.

"oh boy" vanessa exclaimed.

this is gonna be a bumpy ride.

wow yes I finally updated this book. i hope you guys really liked that chapter and yeah anyways i'm really excited for more chapters to come because i've been thinking about this book for quite awhile so stay tuned for that but for now i hope you guys have a wonderful day/night. oh and that shirt looks great on you ;)
