Song: H.E.R - As I Am

We spent the rest of the ride quiet. Once we arrive, Sean dropped me off and disappeared into the night. Heading into the diner, I looked around and saw Lucifer sitting at a booth. Walking up to him he gave me a warm smile to which I returned before sitting down across from him. We ordered food and ate for a while until we were full.

"I want to start off by saying I'm really sorry. I just wanted to find you so badly and I shouldn't have done that. I just didn't want your humanity to flip off forever. I'm really sorry. I hope you can forgive me," he paused as he shoved his hand in his pocket searching for something. He then pulled out my engagement ring and passed it to me, "I really love you Skylar and I'm sorry. It was wrong of me."

I could hear how sincere he was about this situation. I looked down to the ring on the table in front me and picked it up in my hand before looking at it.

"I know you're sorry. I understood why you did it," I mumbled as I looked at him, "But it doesn't excuse you. Throughout the years I've been with you, you've hurt me uncountable times to which each time, I forgive you without hesitation. Somehow, you've always gotten to me and I just accepted it but not this time," I spoke in a stern tone as I slide the ring back to him across the table.

"Sky-"

I quickly got up and sat down next to him.

"Please, let me talk. I know this isn't what you want but you've always gotten what you want. I want something for me this time. It's time I put myself first instead of everyone else and yes, I know it's destiny for us to marry but at the moment, no. Maybe in a few years or decades. I don't know. It will happen, just not now," I spoke with my voice cracking.

He held my hand in his gently. "I'm so sorry I hurt you. Please don't leave me. I want to be with you now not in a couple of years or decades. I want to have a family with you and children," he begged.

I nodded, "I do too but I'm not going to marry you until you get your act together. I thought by now you would be different but deep down you're the same Lucifer in the beginning and as for children, I don't want them knowing their father runs when the situation gets tough. You always try to take the easy way out of stuff," I spoke trying to hold in my tears but Lucifer was now crying instead.

"Skylar, please, I love you. I promise to change. You can't leave me," he sobbed. It honestly broke my heart as I could feel how much pain he was in.

I wiped his tears away and cupped his face.

I watched as his eyes started to glow as I was now in control.

"I'm leaving for a while. Maybe a few years or decades but I will be back. I want you to forget everything you know about me. I want you to forget every memory of us. I want you for forget the past we had together. Forget everything about Skylar Marran as if you've never heard of her before or seen her. If you see pictures of me, see my name written down or if someone mentions me, you'll have no memory of who I am from the past. You'll try your best to remember too but you wouldn't," I compelled him before kissing him, "The only way for you to remember me is if I kiss you again which would bring back all your past memories of me and you'll remember everything about me. Once you change yourself and your mortals into being good or at least decent, I will be back. I do love you but you make it impossible to do so. I'm putting this hold thing on pause and you're free to be in relationships as you please. If somehow you do remember if, you'll feel all the pain you inflicted on me," I spoke in a stern tone as a tear slipped out.

I released his face and watched as the glow in his eyes were slowly fading away. I took that chance to quickly pay for our food and walk out. Looking ahead, I saw Sean leaning against the car smoking a cigarette. Once he saw me, he gave me a smile and dropped the cigarette to the ground before stepping on it.

"How'd it go?" he asked with a smile as I walked up to him.

"Pretty good," my voice came out a bit broken as I smile. His eyes trailed over then with his eyebrow raised. His mouth opened getting ready to say something but was cut off.

"Sean! My man. What are you doing here," a voice came behind me. Sean and I both looked to see Lucifer walking out the Diner with a smile as he walked up to him. They did a handshake before settling back down.

"Just giving picking her up," Sean replied looking at me with a smile.

Lucifer's eyes then landed on me, "And who's this?" he asked.

Looking closer into his eyes, I could see he really didn't know who I was. "Name's Ocean and yours?" I asked.

"Vincent. What's the relationship between you two unless you want to go home with me instead," he winked with a grin. "No relationship and no thanks," I commented.

He hummed in response before his phone rang. He peeked at it before looking back at Sean. "Duties call. I'll see you around," he spoke before walking to his car and driving off.

"What did you?" Sean shrieked.

I let out a chuckle and got into the car to which he hopped into the driver's seat before looking at me with a glare.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes, "I erased his memory of me. He'll remember me when I want him to. Also, can I travel with you?" I asked.

"YOU ERASED HIS MEMORY?! " Sean shouted.

I nodded, "Yes," I paused then started laughing, "It's honestly funny how you didn't see me doing this when you literally can see the future," I laughed.

He started the car and rolled his eyes, "Oh fuck off and of course you can travel with me. What did you tell him exactly," he asked as he started to drive.

"I told him he wouldn't remember anything about me or who I was. He'll remember when I want him to and yes we will marry in the future but not now. Maybe in a few years or decades but until then he could do whatever he wants and not remember me. I also told him that it's time I get what I want instead of him always getting what he wants," I explained.

Sean glimpsed over to me, "You know you just gave him permission to mess with other woman too."

"Full aware. I also told him I'll be back when he puts himself in check and his mortals are good or at least decent," I shrugged.

Sean shook his head, "I still can't believe you pulled this off though."

"Same but I knew he wouldn't resist me since we weren't fighting so it was easy to slip into his mind" I mumbled.

The car drifted into silence as the song on the radio was playing. Sean held my hand in his as he continued driving and I looked out the window. Part of me wanted to cry for Lucifer but the other part of me felt free and happy.

I had no regret of what I did. I'm finally where I'm suppose to be and there was no going back until I was ready.

I know you guys have been waiting for this book to be updated and I'm sorry it took so long. I spent so much time putting this off just because I didn't know how to end this book. I spent so many time rewriting chapters and erasing it after only to rewrite again. I also know most of you might hate this ending (as a reader, I would hate this ending too) but I have my reasons.

Reasons:

1) Sky deserves time for herself and to do what she wants to do. She's always constantly worrying for everyone else and taking care of them. 

2) Lucifer has fucked her over many times including kissing random bitches, fucking her ex best friend, lying about certain things that were important and much more.

3) I didn't want a cliche ending where they live happily ever after.

Also, I will be writing a final FINAL chapter if you guys want which would give us a glimpse of the future when Sky and Lu does get married and having children along with the chaos that comes with it. I'm only writing that chapter if I get at least 10 comments saying "Write it". 

Lastly, this is the last book in the Devil Series. I want to thank everyone that has kept up with me from Book 1 to Book 4. Also I will try to edit these book (I will most likely have someone edit them for me because it is too much for me. I will also mention them and tag them).
