-Prologue-

It was six in the morning and Rainbow Dash was fast asleep. Next to her, her phone was ringing, playing the familiar alarm tone she always woke up to.

Slowly and reluctantly, she uncovers her face, the first thing she sees is the sunlight leaking into her room. The ringing is still carrying throughout her room, to which irritatedly, she extends her hand hitting the snooze button. She groans and rolls over, wrapping herself in her blankets. But right as she shut her eyes, an unusual chill travels down her spine, which kept her from drifting back into unconsciousness.

She sits on her headboard, rubbing her eyes. Something was wrong. That was the only thing she seemed to know. The past days had been rough on her, she wasn't surprised she felt this way. But, this was all so new to her.

She sighs, doing a small stretch, before swinging her feet over. She immediately hit the headrest and yelped in pain. This was enough to wake her up.

Cursing at the harsh pain, her feet met the polyester carpet. She continued to drag herself all the way downstairs towards the washroom.

When Rainbow finally made it to the bathroom, her gaze met her own reflection. She tugged the sides of her mouth, forming a small smile. Her hair was an unbrushed mess, her eye bags were as dark as bruises. Nothing stood out as different. But the spine-chilling feeling from earlier still remained.

She managed to somewhat shrug the feeling off, finishing the rest of her morning routine. She shrugged on her book bag, saying her usual goodbyes to her family.

She glided her way to CHS, her hands shoved in the pockets of her light blue hoodie. She was listening to music, as if that was an attempt to get rid of the strange feeling. Once Dash saw the school, she tore off her earbuds, sliding them into her pocket.

She took a second to stare at the nicely laid out school. The stairs led up to the entrance. Beside her was the flag pole that represented that everyone was equal. She arched an eyebrow realizing that it looked like someone had dumped trash everywhere. Wrappers laid, the ground was spray painted, it had a weird smell to it.

Canterlot High School was one of the cleanest schools in Equestria, so it was strange to see it like this. Insulting almost. Dash continued up the stairs. And when she pushed open the doors to the entrance, it all seemed to catch up to her.

Everything was different.

The noise from all the fighting was loud, which made Dash want to go back home, curl up into a ball, and forget about it all. She strolled through all the hallways, nearly stopping in her tracks once she saw her friends.

Her friends were supposed to be representing the element they carried. That was the exact opposite of what they were doing. They were all fighting, Fluttershy being the main cause of it. Rarity's hair was a tangled mess, Pinkie's hair wasn't a tangled mess.

I will now introduce the main characters before and after their changed forms.

Twilight Sparkle

BEFORE: Nerd. She tops in all her classes, reads all the time, is the teachers pet, and a grammar nazi. Her classmates attempt to steal her notes before exams, but since she studies so much, she really doesn't care.

AFTER: Dumbass. She is always tardy for class, looks messy, and can't answer the easiest questions.

Applejack:

BEFORE: Musician. She's really a mix of everything, but is pretty popular. She's seen around with the band members for her love of country music. She lives on a farm, with her family and works for money on it.

AFTER: Talentless. She isn't able to strike chords on her guitar, and her voice can't hit a single note. She lies about everything, is very weak, and just doesn't seem to care about anything.

Rarity:

BEFORE: Celebrity. All the boys fall for her beauty and money. Her clothes were brought from the finest shops and she is against the teachers. However, towards her friends, she is generous.

AFTER: Horrible at fashion, can't even match her shoes and clothes together. She doesn't share anything with her friends, because she feels like it's all made for herself.

Pinkie Pie:

BEFORE: Party planner. She takes birthdays very seriously, and she's known for her crackhead energy. Pinkie has close relationships with all her friends and does her best to make their days filled with smiles.

AFTER: Always grumpy, she isn't able to make anyone happy. In fact, she makes everyone sad. The only thing that remained in Pinkie was her love for rocks, though.

Fluttershy:

BEFORE: Shy. Fluttershy has six pets, her most popular being her rabbit, Angel. She means no harm to anyone and is bullied a lot due to her scared nature. She takes her love for her pets to the extreme, and doesn't eat meat or dairy products to spare their lives.

AFTER: Ruthless. She didn't care about her pets at all, and would eat meat and dairy all the time. She was the bully at school and would get detention for being one.
Staring at all the polar opposites of all the students, Dash knew right away she had to fix this. Her mind trailed off into her thoughts, thinking of endless possibilities of what could have happened over night. She wasn't new to Equestria magic, as her group of friends had been exposed to it in the past. But, it's never been - like this.

As if on cue, she felt a hand touch her shoulder. Dash flinched, spinning around. In front of her stood Principal Celestia, with a serious look painted on her face.

"Principal Celestia?" Dash quaked. "What's going on??"

She removed her hand, wasting no more time to announce what she had to say next. "He's returned."

"What-?"

Principal Celestia heaved a sigh, placing her hand on her forehead, trying to gather up her thoughts. "I'm wasting time saying this."

"Time?" Dash trembled.

"Rainbow Dash," Celestia spoke with a lot more volume. "You've got thirty  It appears that Tirek has cast a spell and, your friends - everyone - isn't normal anymore. And if you don't save them in time, they'll be like that forever." All of this was sinking in, and Dash didn't know how she was supposed to react. "Your friends are living in fake souls, their lives are completely turned around. Eventually, they'll wither up and die as time goes on."

Rainbow's eyes widened. "Is this a joke?" she was barely able to choke out. Celestia's lack of response made her panic arise even more. "What the hell am I supposed to do?"

Celestia reverted her gaze up, her eye catching something. "He might know."

And just like Principal Celestia directed, Dash looked in her direction. There, Soarin Skies stood, picking things out of his locker. Out of everyone else in the school, he seemed to be the only other student who didn't seem to be affected with whatever spell Tirek cast on everyone.

“You must go with him, Rainbow Dash. It won’t be too long before the rest of Equestria is affected.” She looked back to her younger sister who was impatiently waiting for her with a gun in her hand. “Luna and I will try to take control of Tirek’s power. But eventually, even our help will succumb. Go now!”

"Yes, ma'am!" Dash shouted with the tension in her neck.

“Oh and Dash?”

Dash looked back at Celestia, nodding for her to go on.

“Legend says that you might have to fight against your friends. Please Dash, keep that in mind.”

She stood there, watching the both of them walk outside. They left the door open, just enough so I could see outside. Right away, their attention turned to who she  assumed to be Tirek.

Shit. It's Tirek, and he's the magic killer. Lord, that nickname existed since my childhood, she thought.

Dash turned behind her, where Soarin was presumably standing. And there he was, his locker was now closed, and his gaze was directed towards where Celestia and Luna were. Soarin and Rainbow were the only ones in the hallway, everyone had gone somewhere else after Celestia had appeared. A loud boom was heard, making Dash wince and spin around.

And right as she turned around, it was like a spell was cast on her. She was too curious to ignore, and she couldn't not see the full battle between them. From where she was standing, she could make out Celestia's hand clenched against her arm. Dash's eyes widened, realizing that she was hurt. She took a few steps forward, and right away, Soarin was commenting on this movement.

"Rainbow Dash, what do you think you're doing? Tirek's too powerful and he's going to kill you!"

She didn't look back. She only had one thought in her mind. "I'm going to help Celestia. She's not going to survive."

Going out, she sees Celestia and Luna using their weapons against Tirek's magic. Luna was the ruler of the night, and Celestia of the day. In their hands, they firmly held their guns. They both had it aimed to the ground, Tirek stood only a few feet away, with an amused look on his face.

Tirek extended his hand, grabbing Luna by her feet. The cold metal she was carrying, was dropped onto the ground. He made it look so simple, while she dangled in his grasp. He was twice her size, Luna, herself, couldn't do anything to defend.

Celestia gasped, her grip on her gun became even stronger. "PUT. MY. SISTER. DOWN!" she demanded. With shaky hands, she raised the weapon up, pointing it directly towards Tirek's head.

"I won't do it, you prick!" Tirek screamed. The soulless clunk of metal was in her hands, many thoughts swirled in her mind of what to do. She held her breath, her stance only becoming more resistant. Her finger was next to the trigger and at any moment she could shoot.

Luna's desperate voice was the next thing that was heard. "Celestia, sister, do not do what you're about to do. I will die, either way. If he kills me, his power will reduce. But if he doesn't, he's just going to get stronger and stronger."

And just like that, the words struck Celestia like a thunderbolt. Her grasp against the gun loosened. She dropped the piece of metal, nearly hitting her feet by a few inches.

All Luna's life, she feared death. She feared departing the world, not knowing what came next. But there she was, lying in Tirek's grasp. Her life was in his hands.

And not even a minute passed before Luna's life blinked before her eyes. Tirek squashed Luna in his hand, suffocating instantly. And as if she was nothing, he dropped her to the ground. Her lifeless body hit the cement, to which she remained no more in.

With a smile on his face, he walked away, almost laughing maniacally. And Celestia was left there, with only her thoughts to mend.

Dash felt a tug to her arm, seeing Soarin's green eyes staring at her. "Let's go," he demanded.
