Amos
«I don't believe to this version and the implication of fairies is even less reassuring. They have never liked we Dark Dragons and I can't say that the thing is not mutual, but I ran away from jail and I wouldn't like that this was some kind of trap.» He whispered at Clara's ear, leaving aside a copper lock of her.
«Oh, she made me a really good impression. Anyone against you is a dear friend of mine. Indeed, not to point out the obvious, but the action of that blessed woman was providential! God only knows what would have been of me if she hadn't rushed to my rescue.» She replied in a fake relieved tone.
«Don't you know that the role of the damsel in distress doesn't suit you?» The dragon told her, with a little smile. We could actually say that he hasn't done it for centuries!
Clara, in a brave sprint, asked: «Sorry Madam, but we have been here for a while and, for as much I am massive fan of nature, even of that of others worlds, we were wondering where we are headed to and, for as much it concerns me, I would need to know if you know the reason of my arrival in this reign or whatever it is. And, if so, could you tell me how to come back home in order to say goodbye friendly and coming back to our lives?»
«Be sure that she knows all the answers to your questions, but I doubt that she'll answer to us until our arrival to this phantomatic place. They know how to be elusive, almost like fairies and I can assure that they are unrivalled. Am I wrong?»
«Well, well, I can see that neither a century of imprisonment was enough to quench your burning fire. Don't be scared my dear, when the time comes, you will have all your answers. It's not much further and, once there, I assure you that you will be paid back for your effort. In the meanwhile, my brave girl, can I ask you a thing?»
«Usually, it would be a good practice answering before asking another question to your interlocutor, but since it seems that the one who decides the rules of the play is you, ask and it shall be given to you or, at least, we'll try.» The young woman replied.
«I can't understand why, but I think to know the question. Do you want to know how she managed to free me, right?»
The woman tried to keep her impassive and quiet expression, but it seems not standing very well his continuous intromissions and the Dragon couldn't do without being happy about it.
«Since you are so witty, I suppose you won't have any problem in letting her answer freely, right?» She asked with a fake quiet tone.
"I don't know her intentions, but I already don't like them. And then, what does she want from us? She seems to know everything and this aspect is already enough irritating." Amos thought, trying not letting on his frustration to a Clara yet sufficiently shocked.
«Hey, hey, let's make it clear. I don't need this kind of feathered man taking my side, understood?» The red – haired woman spoke, suddenly woken up from her momentaneous torpor.
«Who did you call "feathered man? And what makes you just think that I want to defend such a weak and insignificant being like you?» He answered. He didn't even know for what reason he had reacted in that way, but teasing and seeing all the expressions she could make made him have fun like anything else in the world.
«I was referring to you. Nothing but a dragon, you seem one of those crows that one hears at the sunset.» She made fun of him, ending with an "elegant" big mouth.
«Did you seriously compare me to a crow?» The dragon asked, surprised.
In so many centuries no one had never used such a simile talking about him; indeed, he was considered incredibly handsome. Many people envied him for this reason and for his superior powers. It was a two – edged sword, because on the one hand this had always allowed him to defend himself from the evil of the world, but, on the other hand, it had forbidden him to be integrated.
He was neither fish nor fowl and it's well known, people fear the unknown. He had to deal with reality very soon, not having a family neither.
His only trace was his purple eyes. Since when he remembered, he had never met someone with the same color and he still hadn't had an answer.
He had been found near the bank of the river nearby the Forbidden Valley and considered his wings' color, the Dark that had found him decided to keep him with them and to raise him as one of them, even because they gave it for granted that he was.
«Hey, what's the matter with you? I don't like when people ignore me, you know? Anyway, my nosy and not collaborative partner and I can answer to you with a sounding "I have no idea." Right when this one was getting ready to foretaste me like a tasty chicken leg, thing that he keeps doing since the few hours that I know him, suddenly, my hands have enlightened and a sort of light beam managed to break the chains that kept him imprisoned. But why do you care?» Clara asked all in one go, anyways knowing that, probably, she would have not received any answer. It came naturally to her looking at the sexy feathered man and he didn't avoid her gaze.
«Listen, I know that in your surely sad and monotone existence, you have never had the opportunity to see someone like me but, please, try holding yourself from eating me with your eyes. At the end, we are at the sight of prying eyes.» He advised her, keeping observing her reflected image in her green like hope eyes. The young woman blushed and thing didn't pass unnoticed to the dragon, who had achieved a triumphant expression on par of a peacock which shows its showy feathers!
«I am sorry for bothering you, but we have arrived. Welcome to the Water Temple. Following the path, you will find yourself in front of Lundren Mount and, beyond, your research could finally begin.» Lillybet exclaimed satisfied, lifting in the air her stick and dissolving in a one shot the chains at Amos' waists.
The two of them looked at each other and, in unison, exclaimed: «Our what?!»
«We don't know anything else, but we are sure that you are the right people to do this trip. You'll have to regain the blessed objects of the magic reigns and giving them back to the legit owners before ending up in wrong hands. Every reign's destiny is in danger. A powerful enemy is getting ready and we should be ready to the battle and to prevent the worse from happening. The research will be difficult and full of obstacles, but you won't be alone.»
«Hey, time out, ok? I have no intention to take part to any war or anything like that. I just want a way to come back home and pretend that anything happened, all right?» Clara shouted in shock. Honestly, even Amos was appalled.
«Just for one time, I agree with her. I don't want to become a hero or something like that, indeed, I want to get on the trail of those bastards that locked me up the soonest possible and then rip the heart of all of them with my own hands. So, find the second two and leave us in peace.>>
«Girl, if you give me your word that you'd help me, I will let you come back home, but I must know that you won't abandon us once back. I could always pay a visit in your beautiful world and...»
Clara had been put back to the wall, her family and even the entire world were in danger. Could he maybe back down?
«I made a mistake in judging her, I thought she was a good person, instead you are a damn shameful who uses blackmail to bend people to her will. And thank God that you should be the good ones! I accept, but if you just dare to lie or harm my beloved ones, well, I assure you that I'll learn very soon to use my new "toys". Have you got it?» Clara explained, in the most threatening tone she was capable of.
«I can't back down either. At the end, I still owe you a favor and, maybe, this story could reveal some useful implications.» Amos agreed.
«She would be killed in less than a few seconds and it would ruin my day, so I agree too.» Amos told, getting nearer to the girl.
«Fantastic, then let me explain everything and good luck be with you.»
