Chapter 24

Amos

The two were disgusted by the horrible creature appeared in front of them. Clara first took a disgusted glance to the monster and then a homicide glance to Amos, considering him responsible of the current situation!

<<Can you tell me how we could get rid of this monstrosity? And how come did you and him get here?>> The young woman asked shocked and furious.

<<Hey, before misunderstanding, I just followed him on that crazy priestess' request.>> He replied, even if he was not saying the all truth!

Actually, he was already ready to his tracking once heard the news of the imminent attack, but he would have avoided giving her this detail!

<<Oh yes and could you tell me how and why did he come here?>> She kept interrogating him while trying to decode the monster's intentions, who, in the meanwhile, had started producing a disgusting and yellowish smoke from what they thought being his mouth.

<<Please, tell me this this thing is just due to years of poor dental hygiene and not a highly toxic substance.>> She begged him, covering her nose and mouth with her foulard, even if she didn't know how useful it could be.

<<I am afraid I must disappoint you, but, don't be scared, I will get rid of him in no time. You, meanwhile, wait there for me, understood?>> The dragon replied, extracting a hilt.

<<Hey, James Bond, before playing it cool, I would suggest you, at least, to make sure to have a weapon, since you have only a hist in hand. What should he do with it, cleaning his teeth or whatever he uses to chew, after he will have finished feasting with our rests?!>>

<<First of all, I don't know what are you talking about and, secondly, this is the sword with which I fought all my battles since when I have memories.>> The Obscure exclaimed fiery.

<<So, we can consider ourselves already dead, considering your age, that sword will be in ashes.>>

Amos avoided responding to the provocation, unleashing the much-vaunted blade! It was completely black with an endless number of shining points on it; it seemed representing Cosmo's beauty.

<<Tell me, is this enough satisfactory?>> He answered, seeing her astonished expression.

<<All right beast and now back to us.>> The creature, or a kind of greenish-greyish giant warm kept squirming and throwing everywhere his acid, eroding walls, floors and whatever came with range.

In this mess, Clara asked herself how come there were no a scream or something like this. Well, the kind of disgusting giant blob was difficult to hide, not to talk about the fact that he made noise at every movement or even the its disgusting smell. Moreover, before there had been a strong earthquake with consequent black out and, normally things like these scare normal people, so the girl starting hypothesizing if these strange phenomena were linked to the arrive of the unrequested guest!

In the meanwhile, Amos was having some little problems reducing him into a skewer, since that, despite his huge and slimy size, it was definitely rapid in its movements and, in addition, the black-haired man had to avoid its acid splashes.

<<Are you sure you don't need any help?>> She offered giving him a hand again, hidden behind a steel surface enough sheltered.

<<Stay where you are. I have enough to do on my own, let alone if I had to avoid that you melted.>>

<<You are a peasant, but please, go on. Anyways, I want to make clear that since we met I have already saved you twice, so I am not so useless as you keep thinking.>>

<<I consider the term "saved" a little excessive, don't you think so? I have been alive for more than five thousand years and I am still here, and yet it doesn't seem to me to know you since then, but, please, correct me if I am wrong.>> He kept mocking her.

<<All right damn beast, I have enough of you. Get ready to die.>> With a quick and light boost, the Obscure pounced with his blade on it, creating a super rapid sort of swirl which leaved very little of it. Once landed with a snowflake's lightness, Amos cleaned the sword and, in a few seconds, it had already disappeared. The battle must have tired him very much and the monster's acid on his clothes was starting leaving scratches and bruises on his body.

<<Oh God, we must find you cleaned clothes or, at this rate, will remain little of you.>> The girl told while inspecting on him.

<<Don't worry, I am not a feeble human like someone I know, so the acid of that being can't tickle me either.>> He explained, trying keeping playing it cool, at least, in her opinion.

<<Sure Superman, how could I doubt of your words seeing you in this state?>> She mocked him.

<<Stop being an idiot and wait here while I go looking clothes of your size, even if I still don't know where, and then I will be back. You, in the meanwhile, don't move from here. Is that clear?>> She informed him, before going out on scout.

She went away so fast that Amos didn't have the time to tell her that even Elijah had come with him, but, at the moment, he had no idea of where he could be. As much as he didn't want to show it, the injuries were starting to hurt and, taking advantage of her momentaneous absence, he sat on the floor, leaning on the wall to get a bit of rest. Considering the narrow escape, he succumbed to fatigue, closing his eyes for a moment; at the end, he hadn't rested well for days, so some minutes of relax couldn't surely hurt him. He didn't know how much time had passed, but surely not a lot considering he still felt really tired, but the smell and the touch of the young woman waked him up.

<<I am sorry, I was trying taking your shirt off without waking you up, but I failed. I took you some clothes, I leave there here, ok? I turn, so you will have some privacy.>>

<<Can't you really resist to my charm, right? Well, no one could blame you, but if you want to feast your eyes, I have no objection, after all, I don't think you have so many opportunities to do it due to the men you date.>> He told her, starting to undress, much more slowly than normal. He really wanted to have fun holding her on the rope.

<<Firstly, you have no idea of my acquaintances who, just for the records, are much more able-bodied than you (a lie as big as the Sistine Chapel!) and, secondly, since you don't need any help, I will wait for you outside and be quick.>> She informed him huffy, making Amos smile, until he remembered they still don't know where Elijah was!

"Idon't think he is dead, but it would be better that I informed Clara, even if Idon't think she will be too happy about my "little" oblivion." The black-haired thought, sighed.
