II.7 Helico Soline

Helico feels nothing but pride in his actions.

The Ra-Dimar isn't getting back up. There's a large rock piercing his arm, pinning him to the ground. The Inphernos is still moving and remaining vigilant. He was hoping to catch a hint of terror in the fire neytive. That he would beg for mercy. Instead, he's inexpressive and prepared to protect a neytive he hardly knows.

This is what Helico has been anticipating. A challenge.

Things have gotten quite boring over the past few dials on Novennéa. The most thrilling moment Helico got excited about was the attack on Auroris. He was caught off guard at first, but that quickly changed once he took several lives. The only issue with the attack was that it felt too easy.

The Psyke neytives have the ability to manipulate matter. To others it may seem impressive, but to Helico it's nothing special. The attacks thrown at him lacked power and the wielders were amateurish. He wanted a neytive who'll throw everything they have, including their lives. Like the Inphernos.

The rocks surrounding him glow to life and push the shadows back.

Helico clings to a large stalactite that doesn't glow like the others, composed of regular minerals and salts. His webbed wings twitch with impatience for any sign of retaliation. He peers past the rocks to find the Ra-Dimar left alone. The small puddle of blood gradually gets bigger.

Scanning the chamber, the Inphernos is nowhere in sight. He's hiding and left the other neytive defenseless. A tinge of disappointment filled Helico, then again he shouldn't judge. He was hiding from them.

Nothing moves within the cave and he can't hear anything, except for the trickling water on the walls. He starts to suspect that the Inphernos ditched the fight and escaped through a nearby tunnel.

His judgement is mistaken when he feels a source of heat rising near him.

A pillar of fire hits Helico and blinds him from seeing what comes next.

The Inphernos levitates toward him and tosses several fireballs. His lower body is engulfed with red flames. If the fire neytive could handle aerial combat, then this will make the challenge worthwhile. He has much experience in aerial attacks.

The Inphernos closes in on Helico and grasps his jacket. He pulls his other hand back and delivers a punch to his face.

He loses his grip on the rocks and falls back, but he's ready for that.

Helico's wings stretch out and he soars above the sharp rocks from below. The Inphernos neytive changes direction and pursues him.

Dodging rocks left and right, Helico flies with ease inside the chamber with the Inphernos following behind him.

The labyrinth of crystals disappears and an endless dark pit replaces it. Not a single light source is near the pit, as if nothing but darkness exists in this part of the cave.

He hovers above the endless void, his wings beat up and down to stay where he is.

The Inphernos stops his own flight and lands at the edge of the pit. He has to reach out for a nearby stalagmite to avoid a long fall.

Helico uses this chance to summon a large amount of solar energy. It forms in his hand and covers his entire arm like armor. He wields a piece of the sun and intends to burn the Inphernos. From his past experience during the rebellion, Soline triggers are hotter than Inphernos triggers.

He starts to wonder how the fire neytive was able to withstand the effects of his solar orb. Normally, neytives who are close to the blast radius would end up dead. Maybe it's because he's from the Inphernos trybe. He hasn't used much of his solar trigger since the Trybal Rebellion. He grins at the memory of those dark revolutions. The battles, the bloodshed, the kills.

He snaps out of his head and focuses on the Inphernos. Fire appears in his hands, ready for a second round.

Helico swoops down and plunges into the pit. Once he feels the wall, he flies back to the edge where the Inphernos is waiting.

The energy on his arm hardens and he throws a punch at the Inphernos.

The neytive dodges the hit, but the force absorbs into a crystal.

The stalagmite glows like the others, but it doesn't stop getting brighter. The crystals can collect fire and it won't change. It can't take a single strike of solar energy. It's too much. The rock explodes, sending thousands of molten shards everywhere.

The Inphernos is quick to recover and lunge at Helico.

It's a desperate attempt to throw his balance off. He's taller than the Inphernos and the added weight of his webbed wings makes him heavier.

He plans to summon more solar energy, but his target has another trick to throw, or breath. The Inphernos takes a deep breath and exhales fire right in his face.

It doesn't have much of an effect, but it compels Helico to stagger back.

The Inphernos runs up to him and throws a fiery fist.

Helico sees the punch coming and avoids it in time. He grabs the Inphernos by the neck and forces him into a headlock. The fire in his hands extinguishes as he struggles with the arm around his throat.

"I was expecting more from you, warrior," he whispers into the neytive's ear. Helico molds his solar energy into a strip and places it on the Inphernos' arm.

A painful scream echoes in the chamber. The fire neytive struggles to break free, but eventually stops moving.

Helico thinks that he must've passed out, but feels something sharp against his torso. The sensation pierces his shoulder, chest and abdomen. The Inphernos used the spikes on his spine to stab him.

He winces through the pain and lunges backwards, carrying the Inphernos with him as he flies.

The spikes on the neytive's spine recede back into his body, scraping the blood off and letting it drip down his jacket.

Helico's blood seeps out of his wounds, but it doesn't stop him. He grabs the Inphernos by the hood of his jacket, and holds him out in front of him. This comes as a surprise to him. Perhaps the neytive in front of him isn't who he thinks it is. He put up a good fight, but it didn't satisfy him one bit.

"Am I wasting my time?" Helico tells the half conscious Inphernos.

Seeing that he's flying over the pit again, he might as well end this fight the way he wants.

Helico releases his grip and watches the Inphernos fall helplessly into the void.

He was expecting the fall to last longer, and not to hear a loud thud.

Helico looks down to see the Inphernos lying on top of a silver mass, covering the entire pit.

He's confused at what's happening and his suspicions grow once he sees something floating next to him. It's small and similar to his own creation, but it's flashing light blue. A lunar orb.

The frigid explosion is big enough to knock him against the stalagmites. He shakes off the debris and starts searching around the cave.

Helico doesn't bother hiding his bloodlust and the sinister smirk on his face. He has a new target to search for..

The Lunilla neytive.
