( Prologue - War of hearts )
THROUGH HER GLASSY vision, the dull clouds that day seemed to form together, above the commotion around the orphanage. Red and blue lights blared, it had been two days since she decided to run away.
Her stomach growled angrily, like a beast thrashing against metal bars within its confinement. Due to feasting on only packets of crisps for each vital meal, her limbs were growing tired.
Autumn shook her head, some stray hair danced along the polluted winds. Maybe it was time that she accepted the fact that no one would love her.
A wrenching feeling settled within her stomach. The same one Autumn got whenever she saw another person in the orphanage go. She would glare, alone in the sidelines, feeling unbelievably pained.
She would see how gleeful the families were, as they chose that person over her.
Why wouldn't they choose me? She always thought- every time.
Trying to convince herself, that she would be alright, Autumn braved a smile. With much courage upon her shoulders, and without a plan, she fled from the path.
Leaving no traces of her being there, branches scratched her arms as her surroundings blurred. She had nowhere to go to. With her feet swiftly moving across the rocky pathway, Autumn began to feel lost. Wiping away hot tears that streaked her flustered cheeks, she kept her head held high.
"There's no going back now." She muttered.
Was she doing this out of spite? Or for herself? Did she even think of the consequences? With her mind clouded, she tripped over what seemed to be a fallen branch, causing her to tumble.
Wincing through gritted teeth, a wave of pain formed within her right leg. "Oh my God . . ." Starting to feel light headed, she treaded lightly. But, she was not going that far, not by limping.
Frustrated, she brushed away the specks of dirt that was stuck on her cheeks. Perhaps it was time to take a break, especially with only crisps in her system, it was too arduous to continue.
Snapping her head around the corner, a dark shadow flittered past her. It left trails of mystery, leaving unanswered questions within Autumn's mind.
Snap.
If she was to survive out there alone, there was no use in feeling fear. Dipping between trees, crows squawked and flew out of the clearing. Using a large twig as self defence, Autumn held it before her, ready to strike.
Swish.
The peculiar figure swooped low, and aggressively placed its palms onto her mouth. Her pleas were muffled, skin chilled from the ghostly feeling of the beastly shadow. All that she could make out were forest green eyes. They gleamed back at her enchantingly.
Her body began to feel drowsy, bones benumbed. Autumn had no idea what she attracted. She made herself fall into a loop hole.
She left London just to be free again, but instead, she found a new way to be trapped.
There was someone awaiting for her in Neverland.
Demanding for change, and for the better.
